The DCTV list of heroes keeps growing! Falk Hentschel has been cast as Hawkman and will appear primarily in Legends of Tomorrow. According to the official announcement, Hawkman will also appear in crossover episodes of The Flash and Arrow. This is a key piece of info as it is reported that Hawkman will appear in crossover episodes BEFORE Legends of Tomorrow.

It’s possible we’ll get an origin of sorts during the crossover event. More importantly, I hope we eventually get an interaction between Hawkman and Vibe like this one:

You read that right! While the suit looks mostly the same, the white emblem is more than enough to get fans excited. This is coming off numerous announcements including the casting of Captain Cold’s father and other casting news announced at San Diego Comic-Con two weeks ago.

The show’s executive producer, Greg Berlanti, has previously noted that the show will delve more into comic book storylines. This change in the emblem is a start!

Who do you think will inspire the emblem change? Barry or Cisco?

 Alexander Calvert

Anarky is set to join the next season of Arrow as a criminal-for-hire, and is willing to do whatever it takes to leave his mark. During the Arrow panel at Comic-Con, it was revealed that Anarky would be working with Damien Darhk.

Anarky

Those who read the comics know Anarky works with tech and fights for what he thinks is right. He is also a Batman villain and has also appeared in the video game, Batman: Arkham Origins. Alexander Calvert most recently appeared in a few episodes of The Returned and Bates Motel.

Earlier today, it was also announced that Arrow has also casted Mr. Terrific!

Arrow season four is set to premiere Oct. 7! What are your thoughts on all of this casting news!?

Everyone has someone to answer to. Michael Ironside has been cast as Lewis Snart, an abusive criminal. Fans of the lore and show will realize that Ironside will be doing double-duty as a father to both Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart/Golden Glider (Peyton List).

Ironside will be making his first guest appearance in the third episode of the season, appropriately titled, Family of Rouges, in which Lewis Snart returns to Central City after being released from prison. Of course, Miller and List will costar as Captain Cold and Golden Glider respectively.

Michael Ironside

This is coming after an already big announcement of the inclusion of Wally West, Jay Garrick, Patty Spivot, and Professor Zoom.

CW has decided to give a full series order to the Arrow-Flash spinoff DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This is exciting news since Flash and Arrow are firing on all cylinders. When it comes down to the comic adaptations to television, DC seems to be reigning supreme so far. With Supergirl being ordered into a season and iZombie picked up for a second season the executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti seem to do no wrong.

‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’  is set to star Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory, Heat Wave), Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), Ciara Renee (Kendra Saunders, Hawkgirl), Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson) and Caity Lotz in an unidentified role, since her Arrow character, Sara Lance, unfortunatly died this season. Which sucks since I believe she is a more believable Black Canary than her sister.

In Legends, when heroes alone are not enough, the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat—one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

Briefly: Today is apparently a hot day for spinoff news. First, The Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead received its first short but sweet teaser trailer, and now both Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter have been cast for The CW’s Arrow / The Flash spinoff.

Law and Order: SVU guest and Broadway star Ciara Renée has been cast as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl in the upcoming (and anticipated) as yet untitled series.  Deadline notes that Saunders “is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”

Renee

Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill has also joined the project, and will portray Rip Hunter, “a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.”

Darvill

It’s also noted that the series is set to feature three DC characters that we haven’t yet seen on TV, with Darvill’s Rip Hunter being the first announced. The two join already revealed returning characters, like Brandon Routh’s The Atom, Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell’s Heat Wave, and more.

Are you looking forward to the series? Or are we already at critical mass for comic book series on television? Sound out below!

Briefly: Looks like The CW has another 90’s throwback planned for The Flash, and another original series cast member will reprise his villainous role.

It’s Mark Hamill, and he’s playing The Trickster. The CW lists the character’s bio as:

“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash’ series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.”

The CW has been doing a pretty stellar job with The Flash so far, and it’s especially cool to see all the nods and recastings that they’ve been doing in homage to the original series.

Series’ executive producer Andrew Kreisberg notes that “Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash.  Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes!  We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”

Are you down for the role? Excited to see what sort of shape Hamill’s gotten himself into for his role in Star Wars: Episode VII? Sound out below!

Briefly: We’re now just a couple of weeks away from the anticipated Arrow The Flash crossover event, and The CW today debuted a new batch of images from the upcoming episode.

A synopsis has also been revealed, giving us a much better idea of what we can expect from the first half of the event:

Barry (Grant Gustin) is thrilled when Oliver (guest star Stephen Amell), Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo, the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) is furious when Eddie (Rick Cosnett) tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs.

It certainly sounds like an action-packed episode, and I really can’t wait to see it. For now, we’ll have to settle on these images while we count down the days. Take a look at everything below, and let us know what you think of Arrow so far!

Fan favorite writer and producer Jane Espenson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Torchwood, Once Upon A Time) took some time out of her hectic Comic Con schedule to sit down and chat with Geekscape about her show, Husbands.

husbands 2
(l-r) Brad Bell and Sean Hemeon as Cheeks and Brady in “Husbands.”

Espenson co-created Husbands with Brad Bell  in 2011, solely for distribution on digital platforms such as Blip, YouTube and Roku. Husbands follows Cheeks (Bell) and Brady Kelly (Sean Hemeon) as a gay couple who drunkenly tie the knot in Vegas to celebrate the federal amendment for marriage equality, and stay married for fear that a divorce would devastate both the same-sex marriage cause and their careers.

The show quickly built up a large fan base, and for their second season, Epsenson and Bell ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, reaching 120% of their goal. The third season, and the upcoming fourth season, were  produced in partnership with CW Seed.

Husbands is known for its send-up of sitcom tropes, its brilliant humor (which often is layered over biting social commentary), and its intelligent and sharp comedic style. Guest stars on the show are another draw; Joss Whedon appears in every episode in season two as Wes; other guest stars include Jon Cryer, Mekhi Phifer, Felicia Day, Amber Benson, Emma Caulfield, Dichon Lachman, Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Seth Green and Michael Hogan and Beth Grant as Brady’s parents.

So we were very excited to sit down and talk about the show, how it started, and where it’s going with Jane Espenson herself.

Jane Espenson
Jane Espenson

Q: So, did you work with Brad prior to Husbands? How did the show come to be?

A: This is the first thing we’ve done together, other than a little stage play we worked on together. He had developed the character of Cheeks online, on YouTube, and had a number of videos up there that I found and fell in love with, and I finally reached out to him over Twitter, and we became lunch friends. We started talking about what we could do together.

He had the idea of doing an online comedy, and he had an idea of him and Alessandra [Torresani]  as young actors in LA, and I was like, ‘What’s more current events-y? What’s more, going on in LA? What’s a show you can only do now?’ and he said, “what if it’s a show about newlyweds?’ and I  said ‘Yes, that show will exist in five years, and it will be on NBC, and it will be called Husbands.”  And we were like, ‘Let’s just make it oursleves!’

Right away it was clear that this was something we were going to make ourselves, we weren’t going to go out and pitch it, we had a very clear vision for it. And that night, he did the first pass on the script that become our first story. And we filmed that, and we put it out there, and it got so much positive reception and made it so clear that there was an audience. So, we used that as part of a Kickstarter campaign for season two, and then the third and fourth stories were all through the CW Seed. And they’ve been amazing. It’s really the best way, I think, if you want creative control. We also realized how valuable it is to have good input from someone who has objectivity on the series, so we have readings and producers read the scripts, for the feedback.

Q. So the first episodes were really short, only two or three minutes each. Why did you decide to go with that format?

A. It was one sitcom length story, we just released it a scene at a time. In later seasons we released it an act at a time. But it’s the same number of scenes, and they add up to standard sitcom length.

Q. Did you know beforehand that you were going to release just short scenes?

A. We knew beforehand, because at the time no one would click on anything that was longer than three minutes. It was just how people used YouTube then. So we were like, let’s just make sure no scene is longer than two-and-a-half pages. And we were very strict about that. We’ve loosened up on that a little because we are releasing things of a longer length, but it’s still a standard sitcom length story.

Q. Did keeping the scenes so short affect the way you approached the writing?

A. A little bit, just because you had to be very draconian with yourself. You couldn’t indulge in a three page run of puns, it was like, no, this scene has to end now. So in that sense it tightened our writing up. But we both have very good instincts, about when a scene is over. If you look at our scripts now, it’s rare that a scene goes over three pages. We had a big exception, with the first scene of “I Dream of Cleaning” episode, was a really long scene, but it was really broken up into what we call French Scenes, where somebody exits and a new scene starts. So if you look at it that way, we still kept ourselves very strict. The scenes were still quite short.

Q. So the Kickstarter was very successful. What was it like using Crowd sourcing for your funding?

A. We knew it was going to be a certain amount of work. Tania del Rio, who’s an artist who works with us, she designs our T-shirts and our poster, and one of the stories in our comic book, she ran the Kickstarter campaign. Like, she ran the shipping, which is one of the bigger jobs. We already had content, since we had season one, so a lot of our work–those two difficult things–what do you present, and how do you get the rewards out–were already done. So we just sat back and watch the numbers roll. It was amazing. We knew, in just a few hours, that we were going to make our goal. I just kept texting Brad in the middle of the night ‘We just got $500 more dollars!”

But then it’s a little nerve wracking, because any one can take their money back. So we had one big donor, and for awhile, if he had backed out, we wouldn’t have made our goal. But once we had the cushion, then we started breathing.

Q. You have quite the list of guest stars in Husbands…

A. Yes. Jon Cryer, we were very happy to work in Jon Cryer. And Joss Whedon coming is as Wes was amazing. And there was Amy Acker, Michael Hogan…

Q. Including quite a few that also are on Thrilling Adventure Hour…

A. (laughs) That’s true. Nathan Fillion, Michael Hogan….I think Michael Hogan did Thrilling Adventure Hour because I recommended him, because I knew what a great sport he’d been on Husbands. I’d worked with him on Battlestar [Galactica], but with Husbands I got to hang out with Michael a lot more. Battlestar was in Vancouver, and I didn’t get up there much, so I never really hung out with Michael. Being here, on our set, what a fun guy Michael Hogan is. I would work with him anytime, any day. He’s a great guy. So different than Colonel Tigh.

I mean, I knew good people that I wanted to reach out to. And then to have all of them respond so positively to the material…and then to meet new people, like John Cryer, who Brad and I didn’t know, or Mikhi Phifer, who is just really, really great. And that was something that we wanted to do, we really wanted to have this be a part of the civil rights movement, and we wanted Brady to have a baseball friend.

Q. One of the things the series has been getting a lot of buzz about is the deftly it handles the social issues while still remaining a sitcom. Do you find that difficult?

A. That is all Brad. He is a very political animal, and a very socio-political animal. And he’s always got stuff, on any topic, and you’ll say ‘what about this? I haven’t really thought about this yet.’ and he’ll say, ‘oh, I have.’ He’s very well reasoned, and he has opinion that are the next opinion. He doesn’t go with the crowd, he’s always the guy going ‘Well, yeah, but…’

So when we all thought it was great that we have these very masculine men being written into these shows on TV,  Brad was going ‘Why is masculine being better? What’s wrong with femininity?’ And just like that, your eyes open. And in example after example after example, your eyes get opened. Like, if you say ‘Isn’t it great that so-and-so came out of the closet? Isn’t it great they’re getting all this recognition?’ And Brad’s saying ‘Not everybody had a choice to come out. Where’s the recognition for the people that were always out? That didn’t have a choice?’ And it’s really made the show something special. And Cheek’s moments, where he talks about that, are the most-watched part of our show.

Watch the Husbands trailer below and let us know what you think! Did we ask Jane all the right questions? What did you want to know?

It appears after the cliffhanger ending of this weeks episode of Arrow, we will see Diggle begin to help train Oliver in his quest to save Starling City. These new promotional photos from the sixth episode of Arrow were just released and feature Oliver Queen training with bodyguard John Diggle. We also get a peak at the Royal Flush Gang’s bank heist in the episode. In the series we will see the gang given a more realistic approach versus their cyborg versions in the comics.

THE ROYAL FLUSH GANG INVADES STARLING CITY — A gang of bank robbers, dubbed The Royal Flush Gang, hits a local bank and seriously wounds an off-duty police officer during a heist. Diggle (David Ramsey) tells Oliver (Stephen Amell) he needs to deviate from his father’s list and start helping the citizens of Starling City. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) asks Thea (Willa Holland) for relationship advice, but things get awkward when she realizes he was asking about Laurel (Katie Cassidy). Moira (Susanna Thompson) confronts Oliver about all of his recent disappearances in the middle of family functions. John Behring directed the episode written by Moira Kirland & Marc Guggenheim (#106).

The CW’s Arrow is bringing one of DC Comics’s deadliest assassins front and center in next week’s episode. While Deadshot may not look exactly like he does in the comics, you can tell they took influence from his Arkham City look for this and it looks one hundred times better than that steampunk cowboy we saw on Smallville. Oh, and they made sure and threw in the wrist gun? Awesome. I have a feeling that this episode is going to be even better than the last two as this show continually seems to improve over time. Check out the latest promo for next week’s episode that invites you to “Meet Deadshot”.

Episode 1×03 “Lone Gunmen”—Oliver (Stephen Amell) is surprised when someone shoots and kills one of his targets. As his plan is to bring people to justice vs. outright killing them, Oliver doesn’t appreciate the help and searches for the gunman. He soon learns that the man, Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe), is taking out businessmen who are scheduled to bid at an auction on an energy company and Walter (Colin Salmon) is one of the bidders. Realizing he can’t protect his family and stop Deadshot at the same time, Oliver enlists Detective Lance’s (Paul Blackthorne) help, but his plan has dire consequences. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Tommy (Colin Donnell) get caught in an awkward situation with Oliver. Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Susanna Thompson also star. Guy Bee directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Andrew Kreisberg.

In the series premiere of The CW’s Arrow this week, us fans got something that got us very excited. We saw a quick shot of a very well known DC Comics assassin’s mask and word has been out for awhile that Deathstroke would be appearing on the show.

In the upcoming episodes “Damages”, which also will see the debut of John Barrowman’s character, Deathstroke is coming to Starling City. Let’s just say we can expect things to get ugly. Arrow is definitely basing their version of the character on his comic book version when it comes to the look…and hopefully he comes with the skills to match. Honestly, I think we’re all excited for this one.

Source: IGN

The first look at John Barrowman’s character in Arrow have been revealed and we also know what episode he will make his debut in. Do we know what his role is yet? Nope. We still have no clue who Barrowman will be playing in the series. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that we will first see Barrowman appear in episode five titled “Damaged”.

His character code name at the moment is still “The Well-Dressed Man” who “is as mysterious as he is wealthy” as well as “an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City”. In the second image you can see him talking to Oliver’s mother, could he have something to do with the big reveal at the end of the episode?

If you missed the series premiere of Arrow you can catch it at 8 pm tonight on The CW.

Not too long ago we posted a review of the pilot for CW’s Arrow. The review wasn’t too positive but regardless I decided to give the show a “shot” tonight. Upon actually watching I definitely disagree with the review. The show definitely isn’t a bulls eye but I don’t think it’s far from the mark and has potential. The thing that some comic fans may miss is that we aren’t the only demographic out there. So, how exactly do you strike a balance between bringing in television audiences that have most likely never even heard of Green Arrow while also attracting fans of the source material? It’s a hard feat to accomplish at times especially with TV budgets.

And sure the pilot does lean at bringing in some new viewers for the show by giving it a CW feel to it. Keep in mind however that the CW feel isn’t too strong that it overpowers the vibe of the show. There are plenty of nods to get fans excited throughout the entire episode as well. The subtle touches that the series seems like it will have will keep the every day audience interested in the story and comic fans interested to see where they go with these characters and interpritations. They appear to be making an effort to keep both audiences happy while not overwhelming or underserving either group.

The series premiere does a great job at grabbing new viewers by introducing them to Oliver Queen’s backstory while not boring them and moving forward with the story at the same time. They did a great job of making quick work of the basics of the story, Oliver Queen is a billionaire playboy who was stranded on an island for five years and presumed dead, and now he’s back in Starling City (Yes, we know it’s not the same city name. Get over it.), and then allowed to establish him as the vigilante hero of the city. They did a pretty neat job of an origin in one episode without actually making it feel too rushed.

Under his new alias, Oliver is hunting down folks from a list of names supplied by his father, which apparently took place before commiting suicide before him, a point that even I got a tad lost on. But moving on…these people are all the people who have screwed up Starling City in one way or another, with the implied aid of the Queen family fortune.

So, let us get this one out in the open. They are definitely trying to Nolan this. And why wouldn’t you? DC has had some of their best success under the work of the man. The thing is they do this and many fans may cry foul but I guess you guys really don’t know the back story on Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow. When Oliver Queen appeared in 1941, he was basically just Batman in a Robin Hood get up. Queen was a billionaire playboy who fought crime as a hobby after surviving on desert island. He had a ward, who was also his sidekick, sound familiar? The only really difference was that that he didn’t have the dead parents to give him that spark. Well, that’s one difference they changed in the show.

Stephen Arnell succeeds at bringing Oliver Queen to life. He definitely does a great job in the role and there’s small things that you notice that make it even better. For example, if you pay really close attention you will notice that Oliver moves quite differently pre and post island. It’s a nice touch. Another thing to note is that there is this distinct lack of comfort to Amell’s performance that really helps ground the character. The rest of the cast is pretty good but nothing amazing. Katie Cassidy as Laurel has the most potential of the rest of the cast but we haven’t seen it yet to be honest. Another thing worth noting is that the premier heavily benefits from David Nutter’s directing. He seemed to make sure that the scenes were visually striking regardless of how much or how little action was taking place in them.

Of course the show had it’s share of bad things in it. Don’t get me wrong. The CGI was just awful in general. You would expect Warner Bros. to put a little more into a property like this as far as that goes. It is really bad. And I definitely was not a fan of the voiceovers in the series. But when it comes down to it, Arrow is definitely a show with potential to appeal to both fans of the comics as well as people who have zero clue who Green Arrow is. I sat down and watched the pilot with my mom who even agreed that she could see herself watching the show again. And in all honesty, I know I am sticking around at least until the episode where Deathstroke makes his appearance.

Not too long ago it was revealed that Deadshot would be making an appearance in the CW’s Arrow. The DC Comics assassin will make his debut in the third episode titled “Lone Gunman”. His look definitely looks much better than that steampunk cowboy thing they went for in Smallville. The eyepiece actually looks nearly identical to the one that Deadshot wears in Arkham City.

Also keep in mind that this isn’t a full look. He’s definitely rocking a trenchcoat in these images and there could be more to it underneath. I’m sure some of you were hoping for the metal mask but keep in mind that this show is intended to be grounded more in reality and the budget may not have allowed for it. Personally? I think it’s pretty good. But what do you guys think?

Source: The Huffington Post

Well, it seems that the CW’s Arrow is going to go at it with more villains ripped straight from the pages of DC comics. We’ve previously learned that he’d be dealing with Deadshot, Deathstroke, Chyna White, and now The Royal Flush Gang have been confirmed to appear on the show. They will be debuting in an episode titled ‘Legacies’, which most likely means that probably we won’t be seeing the groups origin in the series. While the full gang has yet to be revealed the gang already does have a confirmed ‘Ace’ up their sleeve.

Actor Kyle Schmid (The Covenant) will be portraying Ace in the show’s version of the Royal Flush Gang. Zap2It reports that his real name is Kyle Preston, which is a slight deviation from the Android Ace of the second generation Royal Flush Gang. Whether or not he will be an android has yet to be revealed.

Source: Zap2It

We already know that some DC villains would be showing up in Arrow but when producer Marc Guggenheim was asked if fans should expect to see some familiar heroic faces turn up as well. Unfortunately, his answer is pretty vauge on it.

“I would say, ‘Probably.’ One of the things we want to do is roll the show out at the right pace. For the most part, I think we’ve taken the philosophy that things are happening sooner rather than later. I always feel like every time we get the note from the network, ‘Is this happening too soon?,’ I feel like we’re on the right track. I know as a viewer myself, I’m impatient. I want to see stuff. We’re not going to make the audience wait to see characters, plot twists, revelations. I think running out of great characters and great moments is a quality problem to have, and I just want to have them.”

On to topic of the possibility of whether Batman will be one of the allies that this iteration of Oliver Queen meets up with, Guggenheim remains optimistic that the team behind Arrow will be able to use him in the series. Smallville producers wanted to do this for years but the execs at Warner Bros. wouldn’t allow it. Now that Nolan’s films are done could we see Bruce Wayne on the small screen?

“Oh, my hope is that we can use him at some point. I think that plagued the Smallville showrunners more than it plagues us because, obviously, the Dark Knight Trilogy is over. They’re not available to us yet. My hope is that they’ll be available to us at some point. That would be awesome. No question, that would be absolutely awesome. But I don’t know. That’s above my pay grade.”

So, would you like to see Batman make an appearance and team up with the emerald archer on Arrow?

Source: IGN

A few days ago I reported that Deadshot would be one of the first enemies that Oliver Queen would be going up against in the first season of CW’s Arrow. It’s also been reported that China White and Deathstroke would be amongst his enemies this season and that Kelly Hu who played Deathstrike in X2: X-Men United would be playing the role of China White. No word has hit yet on who would be playing Slade “Deathstroke” Wilson but we do know now that Canadian actor Michael Rowe has been cast in the role of Deadshot.

“Deadshot doesn’t speak much, so he has to have that physicality,” says executive producer Marc Guggenheim (FlashForward) of the Suicide Squad member who may be best known for battling Batman in the comic-book world. “And Michael certainly has that. He has that look.” As for whether Deadshot is a one-shot gig, Guggenheim’s fellow EPs Greg Berlanti (Political Animals) and Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13) both agree that Stephen Amell’s Emerald Archer will most likely cross paths with newcomer Rowe’s hitman beyond this first meeting. “I think that’s very possible,” hints Berlanti.

I was very hesitant about this show at first but once they announced Deadshot would be appearing I was on board. And this guy definitely looks like he can pull the role off. Then again anything will be better than that steampunk cowboy they had on Smallville. So, what do you guys think?

Source: TV Guide

We saw the Deathstroke mask in the teaser. Kelly Hu has been cast as China White. And now the CW has reportedly confirmed that longtime Suicide Squad member, Deadshot will be taking on Starling City’s Emerald Archer in the third episode of the upcoming series Arrow titled “Lone Gunmen”. They have not yet announced though who will be portraying the character.

Stephen Amell aka Arrow’s Oliver Queen has tweeted his take on the news. Apparently someone really wants Oliver dead as they’ve enlisted DC’s best assassins.

At first I was going to ignore this show…but now I may just have to watch it. Especially if they get Deadshot’s suit right unlike what Smallville. Let us forget about that show.

Source: KSite

By now you’ve probably heard the CW is getting a show called ‘Arrow’. And sure…strike one is that they don’t  just call it ‘Green Arrow’. Because that’s what it is. Strike two… being that it’s on the CW. Let’s be honest… minus that Justice Society arc and the hot girls… ‘Smallville’ was weak. But before it could strike out they released this trailer for the show that surprisingly looks like it could shape up to be good.

Oh and do pay attention for the easter egg towards the end.

Not too bad looking right? Wait…whats that? You missed the easter egg? Oh you missed Deathstrokes mask?

Oh now you’re a little excited.

Let me lay this out for a quick second…

The CW knows that Smallville is ending and they really need another super-hero show to fill the void being left. The best thing about the last few seasons of Smallville (I know that is a bit if an oxymoron, but all things are relative) was almost definitely Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and the character’s portrayal by Justin Hartley. It would make some sense that CW, and by default Warner Bros., would want to capitalize on that character’s popularity.

But, instead of building a Green Arrow spin-off from Smallville they decided to reboot the character completely, in a new “darker/grittier” universe (the WB’s current MO for all things super-hero. ugh) with no connection to Smallville whatsoever. They can’t even blame it on Justin Hartley not wanting to continue in the role because at SDCC 2010 he was open to the possibility!

Someday I really hope to understand the thinning that goes on behind the scenes at Warner Bros. in relation to their media strategies with DC Comics, but for now I remain baffled at their choices.

Anyway here is the clip:

The CW has released their first pic of Green Arrow actor Stephen Amell in costume from the pilot for Arrow via Deadline.com. And, unlike this time last year when Wonder Woman’s look from her doomed pilot was released, I don’t think anyone will be complaining this time about the costume. It looks pretty spot on, even if it is only from an angle. The suit was designed by Oscar-winning costume designer and frequent Tim Burton collaborator Colleen Atwood, so I’d hope it would look decent, as opposed to Wonder Woman’s outfit, which was designed at Party City.

The official synopsis for the series goes like this: “Billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell) who, after being marooned for five years on a remote island, returns with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.” That too, sounds about right. Maybe this series won’t suck? Or is that hoping for too much?

Now, lets hope they don’t screw up Black Canary when she shows up.
