We’re still waiting for an announcement regarding what director will be helming Star Wars Episode VII, but now there’s word of another Star Wars film in development. According to Vulture, director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Man Of Steel) is currently developing a Star Wars project for LucasFilm and Walt Disney. It’s not Episode VII, but the film is going to be set in that universe. However, it won’t be connected to the new trilogy:

” He is in fact developing a Star Wars project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series’ galaxy, though parallel to the next trilogy. It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.”

“…but one insider expects it will not be considered part of the “numbered” episodes, but rather a stand-alone film set sometime post–Episode VI events, meaning the next phase of the franchise development is much broader than previously thought. Our sources also say that Snyder’s would start production after Disney starts on its planned 2015 release of Star Wars: Episode VII.”

So, a new Star Wars film based on Kurosawa’s masterpiece Seven Samurai? That sounds like quite an interesting project. Could we be seeing Disney expanding upon their original plans to release a new Star Wars film every two years? Could they be establishing an expanded cinematic universe similar to what Marvel Studios has done? Only time will tell, but it definitely sounds like it.

The official Warner Bros. French website has uploaded the previously-seen image from Man Of Steel, but now uncropped and with an interesting description. Keep in mind though the description is being translated from French.

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013.

Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new full length trailer for next Summer’s highly anticipated Man of Steel. This new trailer gives us a much better look at Supes and the supporting cast, as well as some of the trials they may face during the duration of the film! I don’t want to reveal anything, so just check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Man Of Steel opens on June 14. The film is directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen), and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Lawrence Fishburne, and more!

How excited are you for this one? As long as it’s nothing like Superman Returns, we should be in for a treat!

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

A new website, which is owned by Warner Bros.,  Deep Space Radio Wave Project has appeared online. The website appears to be a bit of viral marketing for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

Mission Statement

Welcome to the home of the DSRW Project, a private non-profit research organization with a network of world-wide interstellar communication facilities that support the exploration of our solar system and the universe. We believe our research is essential to understanding the origin of life.

Our mission is to capture deep space radio waves and analyze them for patterns and messages. We share our findings with the public and work together to answer the question, “Are we alone in the universe?” Through collaboration, we will separate real communication from galactic white noise.

At the moment the messages have all been decoded and it appears to be a countdown with Kryptonian symbols, which you can check out here. Upon further investigation it appears that this is a countdown to the reveal of something at noon tomorrow!

We’re just six months from the insanely anticipated release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and Warner Bros. has just released a new poster!

In the image, you can clearly see that Supes’ is wearing handcuffs, and looks as though he’s being transported by a human military. Where is he going? What did he do? When will we know!

I know I can’t wait for the film, how about you? What do you think of this new poster?

When it was revealed that Warner Bros. was working on a Justice League film, which is set to hit theaters in 2015, one big question that many wondered is where would Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel fit in with the film. While speaking with the NY Post it seems that Snyder has hinted at what fans were hoping for. When asked about Justice League, Snyder commented:

“I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t. But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.”

Then when pressed a little more about whether or not Warner Bros. has asked Snyder to include his film in a DC film universe Snyder replied:

“I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”

Well, sounds like Man Of Steel may be Warner Bros. equivalent to Marvel Studios Iron Man and may be the jumping off point for a shared DC Universe. This also seems to confirm that we will see Henry Cavill, who has signed a three picture deal, reprise the role in 2015’s Justice League.

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14, 2013.

Or will the simple fact that a 3D version exists ruin the experience for you?

Check out the press release below!

BURBANK, CA, November 7, 2012 – Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that director Zack Snyder’s upcoming action adventure “Man of Steel” will be presented in 3D in select theaters, as well as in 2D and IMAX®, so fans of the iconic superhero will be able to experience the much-anticipated movie in their format of choice.

Snyder stated, “The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.”

The film stars Henry Cavill in the role of Superman/Clark Kent, alongside three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”), Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”), Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”), Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”), Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Michael Kelly, Richard Shiff, and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

“Man of Steel” is produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment. Thomas Tull, Lloyd Phillips and Jon Peters are the film’s executive producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Zack Snyder Film, “Man of Steel.” The film is slated for release on June 14, 2013 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

It appears so. While, this could totally be fan made…highly doubt that it is. Definitely looks much like what we’ve seen already. With a full-length trailer set to debut very soon it is highly likely that the opening animation for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel has made its way online. Either way…check it out.

Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013.

David S. Goyer has been doing his rounds to promote his upcoming series Da Vinci’s Demons. When speaking with Italian site badtaste.it, the topic of Man of Steel came up, and Goyer of course had a few words to say about it. Check out the interaction below!

Moderator: You are quite good at writing two kinds of stories: fantasy completely original stories, with a supernatural aspect, and also adaptations (especially from comic-books) that you reinvent in an original way. We know you’re working on a new comic-book adaptation, a DC Comics adaptation. What does this work have in common with you previous works?

David Goyer: Are we talking about Man of Steel? What Christopher Nolan and I have done with Superman is trying to bring the same naturalistic approach that we used adopted for the Batman trilogy. We always had a naturalistic approach, we want out stories to be rooted in reality, like they could happen in the same world we live in. It’s not that easy with Superman, and actually this doesn’t necessarily mean we will make a dark movie. But working on this reboot we are thinking about what would happen if a story like this one actually happened. How would people react to this? What impact would have the presence of Superman in the real world? What I really like to do is writing “genre” stories without a cartoonish element. I did the same with Da Vinci’s Demons, and I’ll do the same with Man of Steel.

David of course has quite a few superhero writing credits under his belt. From Nolan’s Batman trilogy to Ghost Rider, Blade to The Crow, he’s been heavily invested with the stuff for decades. I know I can’t wait for Man of Steel, how about you?

Man of Steel soars into theatres on June 14, 2013.

It looks like we’re getting even more names added to the list of potential directors for Warner Bros. upcoming Justice League film. Peter Georgiou of Thinkmcflythink Tweeted earlier this week that he had heard some more names that were on Warner Bros. radar for the upcoming and he didn’t sound too stoked on the names he had heard. He’s revealed some of the names on the list that include Zack Snyder (Watchmen), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and joining Brett Ratner on the list of people that no one wants to do it…McG (Terminator: Salvation).

Georgiou also Tweeted that they were about eight names in total on this list, and we can possilby expect more to be revealed shortly. Keep in mind that of course if these directors are on the list it doesn’t mean that any of them are going to do it. Hell, some of these name have most likely not even been approached yet for the upcoming project. Let’s just keep Brett Rater and McG away from this one please Warner Bros. I think of all the names revealed Snyder, Fleischer and The Wachowskis are definitely the best picks on the list. So, what do you think about these?

For quite some time this movie was on the “is it really even happening?” list. That was up until Warner Bros. announced that 300: Battle Of Artemisia would be hitting theaters on August 2, 2013. During the early development for Warner Bros.’ upcoming follow-up there was an interest in bringing back Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas for a cameo appearance. And now with production underway for the film, many have been wondering if Butler was still making an appearance. If you were one of the fans that was hoping that he would I have some bad news for you. During a recent interview with MTV, Butler stated:

“Oh, yeah, I’m not doing it. They’re filming [the ‘300’ sequel] right now. I wish them the best, but it didn’t [work out]. It wasn’t really my thing.”

While it would havebeen cool to see him come back in the film, I doubt that it will any difference as far as ticket sales are concerned. Let’s see if this film can live up to the first one. The story, based on Frank Miller’s Xerxes graphic novel, follows the Persian king’s struggle to become a god, as well as his battles with Greek warlord Themistocles.

300: Battle Of Artemisia makes its way into theaters August 2nd, 2013.

So, there has been a few leaks of this footage but not really any clear ones. Yesterday we gave you two teaser trailers and now we have the full trailer from San Diego Comic-Con. While it may go out of focus a few times I saw this in person and was blown away. You can definitely tell by fans reactions how good this looked. But why am I still writing? Watch and judge for yourselves!
