Note: Catch our recaps of last week’s episodes of The FlashArrow, and Legends of Tomorrow!

Last night, we got the second part of a two-part event revolving around a trip to Earth-2. While this episode didn’t have nearly as many easter eggs as last week, we got unbearably close to learning Zoom’s identity. Let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Earth-2

After Barry was captured and put in a cell near Jesse Quick and the masked man, efforts on behalf of Wells, Iris, and Cisco began immediately. With the help of Earth-2 Barry, the gang was able to locate Killer Frost and sorta convinced her to lead them to Zoom’s lair. I say “sorta” because later on, it was revealed that Frost had intended to bring Wells and co to Zoom’s lair all along. However, she double-crossed Zoom and froze him long enough for the group to get back to Star Labs and travel across the last breach.

The Flash 214

Before the breach was fully closed, Zoom’s arm came out, phasing through Jay Garrick’s chest and taking the body back into Earth-2. We can assume that Killer Frost eventually ran out of juice and is now dead. We can also assume that Garrick is now also dead. That leaves Wells and Jesse Quick having to start new lives on Earth 1.

The Flash 214

As for Earth-2 Barry and Iris, they plan on joining Barry’s parents in Atlantis in an effort to hide from Zoom. While Iris is probably the most competent officer in Earth-2’s CCPD, having lost her father and surviving multiple encounters with Zoom himself, she deserves some time off. If anywhere on Earth-2 is safe, it’s probably Atlantis. This is especially true if we are to assume Atlantis is under Aquaman’s protection.

The Flash 213

In any case, it’s unfortunate that the Justice Society of America, which would be Earth-2’s version of the Justice League, has not formed yet. And if they have, I’m sure they won’t be too happy with the death of Jay Garrick.

Velocity-9 and Jesse Quick

For a while now, we’ve been constantly getting teased with the eventual appearance of Jesse Quick. It is with great hope that we also see her father, Johnny Quick, suit up as a speedster too. In the show, obviously Johnny Quick would come in the form of Wells. I’m still holding out for a Johnny and Jesse Quick, Flash, and Kid Flash vs Zoom showdown.

The Flash 214

Velocity-9 and the next iterations may be the key for the Quick family getting their speedster-like powers. Only time will tell.

Zoom

The Flash 214

Now we get to the most important aspect of last night’s episode: Who is Zoom? We have multiple candidates, and quite honestly, this show has me guessing still. When it’s all said and done, I’ll look back at this season fondly having known that the creative team behind this show did a great job keeping Zoom’s identity under wraps. Let’s go through the list:

Jay Garrick was my very first suspect in trying to guess Zoom’s identity. However, I think it makes more sense if we’ve actually been watching Hunter Zolomon parading around as Garrick this whole time. Last season, The Reverse-Flash introduced the notion of a speed mirage in which a speedster was able to appear in two places at the same time. Since Zoom is undeniably faster, an advanced speed mirage could be the answer as to why Jay Garrick interacted with Team Flash even while Zoom was on the playing field.

The Flash 211

Garrick’s supposed death could also have easily been the product of a speed mirage as well. Pretty easy to disguise after pulling the body back in through the breach.

Eddie Thawne is another suspect as to who Zoom could be. We haven’t seen Eddie alive since the season one finale in which Eddie shot himself to prevent the Reverse-Flash from ever being born. His body was then sucked up into the singularity caused by Eddie’s action. It’s important to note that the singularity was blue, like Zoom, and was then lost. Zoom’s hatred for heroes falls in line with Eddie’s frame of mind. After shooting himself, Eddie told Iris something along the lines of wanting to be a hero in her eyes. After being mentally tortured by the Reverse-Flash, his relationship with Barry grew sour, knowing that he could never match Barry’s heroism because he didn’t have powers.

The Flash 214

Now, having obtained powers similar to Barry’s, it’s possible Eddie wants to do away with Flash for good. Zoom constant uses phrases like “Heroes die” and “I am the fastest man alive.” The latter is something Barry is known for on Earth 1 and is even referred to as such by a number of people.

Henry Allen is another suspect among fans. While I don’t think Earth-1 Henry Allen has a shot at being Zoom, I do believe Earth-2 Henry Allen should be up for consideration. We haven’t seen him in Earth-2 yet, but are lead to believe that he is currently vacationing with Barry’s mom in Atlantis.

Flash 2x1 Henry

The Masked Man

There are many guesses as to who is trapped in the cell. From the looks of the hair though, I would have to guess it’s either Eddie Thawne or the real Jay Garrick. From last night’s episode, we gathered that the prisoner spelled out the name “JAY” using a complex POW pattern system. This is interesting because none of the character’s have been affiliated with any type of war. However, Jay Garrick knowing this pattern makes the most sense.

The Flash 214

Early on in the season, Garrick made an off-handed comment about his helmet having once belonged to his grandfather as he served in the War of the Americas. If Zolomon was posing as Garrick, it would make sense that Zolomon would drop this little tidbit in an effort to provide backstory to his own persona in an effort to get Team Flash to trust him.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!

Legends of Tomorrow continues to ramp up the action and adventure with another episode this week. Along with some great one-liners, we were also treated to the return of Chronos, an appearance by a time master, and a very charming Captain Cold. Let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

The episode begins with the team traveling to Washington in 1986 to steal some documents detailing the whereabouts of Vandal Savage. After a mission inside the Pentagon, the team was able to acquire said documents, which then lead them to Soviet Russia.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

After ingesting translators, the team was able to go down to the USSR and go incognito long enough to steal a key card that would lead to a secret Soviet lab. In that lab, Stein found that Savage, using the USSR, was trying to create their own version of a Firestorm.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

The team is eventually split up in yet another mismanaged mission spearheaded by Rip Hunter. Next week, however, we’re getting an episode in which Captain Cold and company must rescue his friend, Mick, from a impenetrable Russian Gulag. Truly, this will be the ultimate prison break.

Kendra and Sara

Early on in the episode, Kendra kinda lost her cool at the Pentagon. She went into a full berserk mode and started clawing eyes out left and right. It took Firestorm to subdue her by flying her out of the mission area. After that episode, Rip tasked Sara to try and coach her up on controlling her rage.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

Their first practice didn’t go as planned and Sara’s bloodlust started to show. This spooked Sara, which caused Kendra to speak to Rip about the ordeal. Rip then suggested that his original idea was for them to help each other with their inner-demons. It makes sense, and by the end of this season, it would be nice if Sara was able to have a handle on her bloodlust enough to be able to let it out at her will, instead of it taking over entirely. While we know there is a cure for her bloodlust, something we found out last night on Arrow, I can see Sara not wanting to change anything about herself when it’s all said and done.

Chronos

The time-traveling bounty hunter was at it again this episode. Rip was able to dodge Chronos’ first attempt at capturing Rip and his team. After being shot down by Russian jets, Chronos probably crash landed in a forest not too far from where Rip made his crash landing. It can be assumed that Chronos’ ship was heavily damaged and called for aid.

Legends of Tomorrow 101.png.cf

The back up showed up in the from of a Time Master, who journeyed from the Vanishing Point. They offered Rip a way out, but ultimately they planned to betray him all along. This instance solidifies that the Time Masters will not listen to Rip’s reasoning and solely care about keeping the timeline intact.

Firestorm

The Firestorm drama showed up in a big way tonight. Along with coming to terms with being kidnapped and forced to embark on this mission, Jax made it evident that he was angry with Stein, which lead to numerous instances in which Jax would not take Stein’s advice. After their heavy argument, Stein confessed to Ray Palmer that he could not bear to lose another Firestorm partner.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

Ronnie Raymond, the first Firestorm, died last season in The Flash when he scarified himself to close a vortex, saving Central City and the world. After that, Stein realized that it was his partners who were continually putting themsleves in harms way. In an effort to keep them safe, Stein does the only thing he knows how to do and lectures Jax before, during, and after missions. However, this time was different in that Stein was purposely mean to Jax in order to get a point across.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

All of this culminated in Stein sacrificing himself to complete the mission in the USSR secret lab. Upon discovering that the Soviets planned on creating their own Firestorm, Stein risked his life scuttling the Soviet’s tools. His effort resulted in getting captured, along with Heat Wave and Ray Palmer.

Before we leave on this, it’s entirely possible we will see the Soviet’s version of Firestorm in the form of Svarozhich. Svarozhich was a character in the comics, one that fought Firestorm briefly before being absorbed by him entirely. Svarozhich was a soulless clone created by the USSR to wreak havoc on their foes. Eventually, Svarozhich would cease to exist, but his powers were used for good.

Legends of Tomorrow 104

USSR 1986

Take this with a grain of salt, but one of the tie-in’s between the show and our history comes in the form of an event that actually happened in January 1986. Dubbed “Height 611 UFO Incident,” this event came in the form of UFO crash in near some mountains. Sound familiar?

That’s all for this week! Did I miss something? Don’t be afraid to comment! As always, thanks for reading!

Note: Check out last week’s recaps of ArrowLegends of Tomorrow, and last night’s episode of The Flash!

Fortunately for us, Arrow seems to be on an upswing. While Star City seems to be in chaos at all times, Oliver and Team Arrow devised a way to solve and prevent and full on League of Assassins Civil War. Let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

League of Assassins

The episode starts off rather quickly. This is something that is to be appreciated since this League business will not be drawn out over the course of two or three episodes. Nyssa tries, at first, to get Oliver to do her bidding. In her perspective, Oliver must appease her because technicially, in the League’s eyes, they are husband and wife. For the remaineder of the episode, Nyssa awkwardly referred to Oliver as “husband.”

Arrow 413

Nyssa, armed with League loyalists, threatens to set Star City as the stage for their Civil War, should Merlyn not step down. This happens for what seems a couple of nights. Their war began for a couple of reasons, but mainly because Merlyn was not comfortable giving Nyssa the power that comes with controlling the League of Assassins. At first, Merlyn had the very good point of questioning where this Lotus elixir came from in the first place. This, unfortunately, was never answered. Katana was missing in action as well after seemingly giving up the Lotus freely to Nyssa.

Arrow 413

The dispute ends when Oliver takes up the fight, in Nyssa’s place, and defeats Merlyn, Nyssa becomes Ra’s Al Ghul for a night before disbanding the League entirely. And so, after losing his title, along with his hand, Merlyn has become a full-on villain again.

Arrow 413

This is great for the show in many ways and I hope Merlyn continues to scheme in the shadows until next season. For now, he’s told Damien Darhk about Oliver’s biggest secret: William.

Who’s in the Grave?!

The theory of the week would suggest that it’s Oliver’s son, William. When William was introduced into Arrow, I honestly thought he wouldn’t resurface until a little ways down the road. Well, it looks like William is going to need more than his Flash action figure in order to stay safe from Darhk’s assault.

Arrow 408

Of course, Oliver probably won’t know until it’s too late. Still, I don’t think William is in the grave. If anything, he might escape and be forced to change his name, along with his mother. The new alias? Connor Hawke.

Calculator

The side plot this episode dealt with Felicity’s daddy issues. Some interesting tidbits dropped this episode. First, it was revelaed that Felicity’s father has been gone for eighteen years. During that time, it’s assumed that the Calculator was a criminal for hire. He would routinely do hacks for money. Some of these hacks were documented by him and put onto a USB drive. In an effort to get Felicity to trust him, he gave her some of the jobs he did.

Arrow 413

However, by the end of the episode, Felicity found that her father had not really changed and got Star City Police to arrest him. I’m sure this earned a seal of approval from Felicity’s mom, who also told Felicity how he left her with no money and no job.

Arrow 413

Calculator will be going away, but I doubt it will be for long. Earlier this episode, Calculator did mention that he was hired to do the job he did last week. His employer is probably in a high position of power and may even be Damien Darhk. Regardless, Calculator won’t be in prison for long.

Note: Check out last week’s recaps of The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow!

Wow. I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll have to revise any past statement made regarding the best episode of this series because tonight’s episode is definitely the best this show has ever seen. There is so much here to unpack, and we’ll get though all of it together. I promise. Hold me…

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

We all knew Earth-2 would be arriving this week, but what we didn’t know is that we would have an introduction to the infinite earths. I joke about it a lot, and up until now, we’ve only had two earths confirmed. After tonight, it’s safe to say DC’s Infinite Earth’s has shown up in a big way. First, let’s take a look at what Garrick described as “Everything.”

Green Arrow

There’s a chance we’ll never see this version of the Green Arrow, but I doubt that. With the way DCTV is going, I’m sure we’ll see this Green Arrow someway or somehow. However, there are some important things to recognize here. First, that doesn’t look a whole like Oliver. I’ve previously written about Oliver’s son, Connor Hawke, taking up the mantle of the Green Arrow. Here, that looks to be the case.

The Flash 213

The metallic looking arm also looks a tad bit interesting. For all we know, this could be Oliver Queen, just at a future date.

Earth _ Flash

Back in the 90’s, DC had another Flash tv show that had good run. I’ve also previously written about this show before and it tying into The Flash we know today. Up until now, the only thing linking the two shows was the Trickster.

The Flash 213

What’s key here is the fact that in the 90’s television show, The Flash was played by the same actor playing Barry’s dad now in The Flash. Could we see his dad suit up one more time from another Earth to take on Zoom? We can dream.

The Flash 213

Supergirl

It was recently announced that The Flash and Supergirl would have a crossover next month, leaving many to speculate just how they would connect the two shows. Well, it looks like we have our answer.

The Flash 213

Supergirl is indeed taking place on another Earth, but is still connected to the Infinite Earths in the DC Universe. That just makes the crossover that much more exciting.

Grodd

The Flash 213

Grodd is currently being groomed to become an extremely formidable foe in the future. Here, it looks like Grodd has come into his own, and has embraced his position in Gorilla City.

Jonah Hex

The Flash 213

Legends of Tomorrow will be heading to the wild west at some point this season. Hex’s ‘Wanted’ poster hangs in Rip Hunter’s ship as well. Before we see any of that though, it appears we’ve been treated to a glimpse at what’s to come.

The Legion of Super Heroes

This was perhaps the biggest reveal this episode. Previous to this, there has been no mention of the Legion of Super Heroes. For those unfamiliar with them, the Legion of Super Heroes is comprised of young adults aiming to fight injustice and criminal activity on a galactic scale. Each member is given a ring that allows the wearer to fly, fly though an atmosphere, and fly in outer-space.

The Flash 213

Currently, the only non-member that uses the ring is, of course, Booster Gold. In the comics, Rip Hunter’s father is also Booster Gold. There has been no announcement of an appearance to be made by Gold, but may be one is incoming. After all, the Legends of Tomorrow can very well visit the 30th century, which is where the Legion of Super Heroes reside.

Infinite Earths

Lastly, I wanted to point out the bubbles seen while Barry, Cisco, and Harry are traveling to Earth 2. First off, those aren’t bubbles; They’re all individual Earths.

The Flash 213

You should also notice that each Earth is connected, meaning that everything and everyone in this universe is also connected.

Earth 2

When the gang shows up to Earth 2, they immediately notice the differences between the two Earths. Everything from people’s clothes, the cars they drive, the architecture, and even professions belonging to Earth 1 dopplegangers are wildly different. For example, Floyd Lawton, who previously died on Arrow as Deadshot, made an appearance in Earth 2 as Detective Iris West’s partner. We found this out while the criminal David Singh, who is the police captain in Earth 1, was being processed at CCPD. Another significant change was Joe West’s profession as a Jazz musician, something that suits him a little too well.

The Flash 213

However, if there’s one thing I’m really excited about, it’s Mayor Snart. I know I have no place to ask more of this show, but I would be eternally grateful if we could see Mayor Leonard Snart standing toe-to-toe with Zoom.

Barry and Iris eventually go to their Earth 2 home, where Barry gets a good look at where his doppleganger resides. In an emotional twist, Iris informs Barry that his mother called. Barry heads to the phone and we also get a look at some of most dialed numbers in the Allen residence.

The Flash 213

While those are indeed Leaguers, it’s impossible to say for certain that each of them live up to their alter-egos. And while we’re on that subject, did anyone notice that the Not-Justice-League mural was missing from the Earth 2 Central City Police Station?

The Flash 213

The Flash 213

Through Barry’s conversation with his mother, we also learned that civilian travel to Atlantis is indeed a thing. We’ve known about Atlantis for a while now because Jay Garrick already dropped that bomb a few episodes back, referencing that he has a bestie from Atlantis.

Deathstorm and Killer Frost

Ronnie Raymond returned, only not in a good way. Deathstorm, from Earth 2, aides Killer Frost in trying to find the “breacher” in Earth 2. After a couple of bouts with Barry, we quickly learn that Deathstorm is just as powerful as his Firestorm counterpart. What’s even more troubling is that we also learned the whereabouts of Martin Stein. According to Deathstorm, he hasn’t heard Stein’s voice in quite some time. This could mean that either Ronnie has learned to suppress Stein’s control entirely, or Stein died while trapped in Ronnie’s body. Either way, Earth 2 Ronnie wasn’t a nice guy.

The Flash 213

Killer Frost was the only villain not to be killed by Zoom in Earth 2. While she did play a good villain, Frost is extremely afraid of Zoom. She eventually escaped after Zoom left with Barry. Since Zoom was quick to kill Deathstorm, it’s entirely possible Iris and Harry convince Frost to tell them the whereabouts of Zoom and his prisoners.

Reverb and Vibe

Cisco met his doppleganger in Earth 2, and had some surprising results. Aside from Reverb being able to harness more power, Cisco was able to see what he could become.

The Flash 213

During the meeting, Reverb displayed some powers I’m sure Cisco wouldn’t mind using. Unfortunately, Reverb tried to take control from Zoom and paid the price in doing so.

Earth 2 Prison

The episode ends with Barry being trapped in Zoom’s prison. Barry wakes up to the sound of tapping on glass. This is coming from the adjacent cell next to Barry. It’s clear that whoever that is, their tapping is in morse code.

The Flash 213

If you’re wondering what this mysterious figure is saying, I’ll save you the trouble. The tapping translates to “Zoom is – ” The messenger is of course cut of by the arrival of Zoom. However, next week, this prisoner will will have a key role in revealing more about who or what Zoom is. It’s also entirely possible that this prisoner is a speedster himself. It would make sense that any other speedsters Zoom catches would be imprisoned here for a time while Zoom drains them of the speedforce. The mask is also very peculiar. We’re just going to have to wait and see, but if I had to guess, it’s someone we know under that mask.

Earth 1

Back on Earth 1, Adam Fells, a meta-human that has the ability to cause earthquakes, demands to fight The Flash. With Barry gone, Garrick must fill the void and become The Flash on Earth 1. The only problem is, Garrick doesn’t have his speed. Garrick finally levels with Caitlin and basically confesses that he became a velocity 6 addict on his Earth. Now, this is interesting because Garrick has maintained the story that Zoom stole his speed where in fact it was velocity 6 the whole time. On top of that, the effects of velocity 6 have been slowly killing Garrick as well. This change in story is a little suspicious, considering the possibility Garrick can be Zoom.

The Flash 213

Regardless, Garrick decides to hit the velocity serum again and fights Geomancer. The speedforce effects wear off, leaving Garrick vulnerable. Joe ends up saving him and Geomancer runs off to fight another day.

Note: Catch our recaps of The Flash, Arrow, and last week’s Legends of Tomorrow!

Another week, another Legends of Tomorrow adventure. With every episode, we’re starting to see more and more just how much potential this show has within the DC TV lore. Perhaps what’s most surprising is that we’re seeing some resolutions to to storylines that were started in each character’s respective show. Of course, I’m talking about Atom, Captain Cold, and White Canary. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

White Canary

Much like what we’re seeing in Arrow, Sara Lance is really feeling the effects from being healed by the Lazarus Pit. While some may feel this story arc is a bit recycled, I’d argue that we’re getting another side to the problem altogether. For example, Thea doesn’t want to kill to feed the bloodlust. This stance is supported by Oliver, but not by Merlyn.

Legends of Tomorrow 103

Here in Legends, Sara is feeding her bloodlust, but is struggling to get it under control. This becomes concerning to Rip Hunter, who personally witnesses it. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes as Sara and Rip look for some sort of cure while traveling through time, all while Oliver and Team Arrow try to find solutions that involve Darhk.

Atom

Ray Palmer had some confidence issues this week and was aided by Martin Stein. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve kept hearing this banter between Stein and Palmer regarding Palmer’s tenure at Ivy College (I assume). While Stein always seems to come off arrogant, he does always find the right time to step in and say the right things. This was the case again, causing Palmer to realize his potential and save Kendra’s life.

Legends of Tomorrow 103

Palmer’s confidence issues stemmed from losing his fiancé, something we first learned about in Arrow during Deathstroke’s terrifying siege of Starling City. It’s pretty awesome to see all these different arcs coming together in one show.

Captain Cold

Snart tried to rewrite history this week, and failed. This was a key component to loosely establish a set of rules for the timeline. In this episode, Snart stole an emerald and gave it to his father in an effort to prevent his father from ever going to prison and becoming a bad father.

Legends of Tomorrow 103

What Snart learned was that time always has a way of course-correcting itself. While the timeline is indeed fragile, minimal attempts to change the timeline may end up having the same result in the long run. In Snart’s case, even though his father wasn’t arrested for trying to steal the emerald, he was eventually arrested for trying to sell it to an undercover cop. The end result remained the same: Snart’s father went to prison for five years.

Rip Hunter

One of the big reveals this episode was the fact that Hunter made an attempt at Savage’s life while he was still in Egypt. Hunter’s failure, due to hesitation, was telling of his character. Hunter personally feels guilty for not taking Savage’s life so long ago, even though it wouldn’t have made a difference. And with that, we have a more complete answer as to why he’s surrounded himself with people to help him kill Savage.

Legends of Tomorrow 103

Another reveal that is gaining traction was one of the lines spoken by Hunter. In it, he claims he’s seen “Men of Steel die and Dark Knight’s fall.” This is an obvious reference to both Batman and Superman, though he doesn’t clearly state that Savage was responsible for both of their deaths. However, we’ve seen the state of the world from where Rip Hunter comes from, and it doesn’t look like there’s any Batman or Superman left defending the Earth.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading! See you all next week!

Note: Check out our recaps of The Flash, and last week’s Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow!

Well, it looks like we’re in for a roller coaster of a season. Last week, I wasn’t shy by expressing my disappointment in where the show was going and how the show’s characters were being treated. This week, however, we were treated to a pretty good episode. We had multiple appearances by prominent DC characters and yet another candidate for our “Who’s in the grave?!” segment. So let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

This episode moved steadily along. While I felt the flashback scenes were a little dull and frankly tiresome, the plot and subplots happening in the present day was welcomed with open arms. First, we’ll start with Felicity’s dad.

The Calculator

We knew it was coming. Even if you caught on right before Felicity muttered, “Dad,” the reveal was still pretty great. In the comics, Calculator is pretty evil. In his first go at being a super-villain, he would travel the country, fighting any hero he came across. Whenever he lost, he would have his suit analyze whatever hero was fighting him and would then return to engage in another fight. This time, because of his suit, he was able to win. In doing so, he was able to take down the likes of Atom, Batman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Elongated Man. Eventually, he was caught and was forced to serve nine life sentences. However, he didn’t stay behind bars for long.

Arrow 412

Calculator eventually caught on to the fact that heroes were talking into an earpiece whenever they were out on the field. After investigating, he found that these heroes were talking to Oracle. This inspired Calculator to become an “Oracle” of sorts, only for super-villains instead. In this sense, he became Oracle’s greatest enemy. With his genius-level intellect, Calculator was able to recruit, hire, and even work with a variety of super-villains. This lead to a membership in The Society of Super-Villains, where he also recruited the likes of Mr. Freeze.

Arrow 412

Calculator is very much a Gotham villain, but it’s not the first time we’ve seen a case like this on Arrow. Also in the comics, Calculator does indeed have a daughter. Wendy is a graduate of MIT. Afterward, she got a job working at Titans Tower. There, she helped rebuild Cyborg. After an attack by Wonderdog, Wendy was sent into a coma. She eventually recovered, but was paralyzed from the waist down. Currently, Wendy works under the name Proxy. In this sense, Proxy closely resembles Felicity.

Arrow 412

Cadmus

During Calculator’s attack, the “internet nuke” was planted physically on a console. Before Roy destroyed it, we got a good look at some of the parts labeling.

Arrow 412

It’s unclear if one of these parts was stolen from Cadmus, or if Cadmus is working with the Calculator in some way. In any case, an appearance by Cadmus is huge. In the comics and various DC storylines, Cadmus is responsible for genetic cloning, most notably Superman. Cadmus is directly responsible in creating Superboy and Golden Guardian, while also being responsible for the death of Ted Kord, aka Blue Beetle. In the Justice League cartoons, it was also revealed that Terry McGinnis, aka Batman Beyond, was also in part created by Cadmus to ensure that Batman would live on past Bruce Wayne. It’s also important to note that Amanda Waller has been involved with Cadmus in some sense. With any luck, maybe it was Waller’s clone that was killed last week. Wishful thinking, I suppose. Still, the fact that Cadmus exists in the Arrowverse is really exciting. I would expect to hear from them in the future.

Lotus

One of the subplots this episode involved Nyssa running around looking for something called the Lotus. By the end of the episode, we found out that Lotus is in fact a counter-agent to the Lazarus Pit, developed by the League’s enemies. These enemies, I presume, currently back Nyssa. After all, she informed her colleauge that should she not retrieve the Lotus, to “tell the others that the war is over.” It was also really cool to see Katana guarding what we presume to be Lotus in Japan. I honestly thought Katana was gonna go the way of Waller and get unnecessarily killed off to make room for her theatrical counterpart. Luckily, that wasn’t the case.

Arrow 412

Nyssa claims that it can cure Thea, who is slowly dying, but only if Ollie kills Merlyn. Once again, Oliver is faced with a difficult decision. If only Sara Lance could take a break from time traveling and let Nyssa know she’s been demon free since 2015.

Mr. Terrific T-Sphere

Arrow 403

It was awesome to see Curtis attempt to hold his own against Arsenal. In the fight, he threw his prototype T-Sphere. While it did backfire, the fact that it works to some extent is reason to be excited. Here’s to hoping he has a more stable sphere by the end of this season!

Oliver’s Son

Arrow 408

During this episode, we heard Oliver remark on how going back and forth between Star City and Central City has been one of the many distractions causing him to lose focus on Thea. While this could just be a remark on the crossover event a few weeks ago, I took it as Oliver making reference to his trips visiting his secret son. This was a nice shout-out, and it’s one that will eventually have a large payoff.

Who’s in the Grave?!

Well, add Thea Queen to the list of candidates. Thea is slowly dying because she’s not killing anyone. This week, Oliver set up a meeting with Darhk in hopes of offering a trade to save Thea’s life. It’s hard to gauge exactly what Oliver was willing to trade. I highly doubt he would offer himself has a trade, because that didn’t really work out last time. Instead, I think Oliver was and is willing to give up in the mayoral race for Star City, thus relinquishing his control of the city as Oliver Queen to Darhk’s wife. It’s a risky trade, but one I know Oliver would take.

Arrow 412

While Thea is in a coma, I still find it hard to believe that she’s the one in the grave. For now, I’m sticking by the theory that the person in the grave is Felicity’s mom.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!

‘The Flash’ set to take a trip to National City.

According to a press release, ‘The Flash’s Grant Gustin will be guest starring on ‘Supergirl’.

There are no other details as of yet, including whether Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) will be returning the favor and make an appearance on ‘The Flash’. If She were to make an appearance on The CW, one would hope for a trifecta event that would also include The Arrow.

2016-02-03 14_34_08-Instagram

The Team-up comes as no surprise since they all share the same executive producers, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. The crossover has been long rumored and on everybody’s wish list basically since the Supergirl’ series was announced. The only other cross network character crossover that I could think of was Detective Munch who has randomly popped up in TV popular detective shows. Kudos for Berlanti and Kreisberg for getting all the networks to play nice and make this momentous crossover happen.

The Fastest Man Alive will team up with the Girl of Steel on March 28, when the Flash is slated to make an appearance on CBS’ Supergirl’.

‘Supergirl’ airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, ‘The Flash’ airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

We’re back with another week of The Flash! The last two weeks, this episode included, have been steadily building up to something big. Tonight, we finally learned exactly what that is. Let’s get started!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Tar Pit

For the first time this season, we got an episode that starts with the particle accelerator blowing up. This week, we saw the birth of Tar Pit. Tar Pit is just as much of a menace in this show as he is in the comics, although, the same can’t be said about their origins.

The Flash 212

In the comics, Tar Pit is a career criminal in Keystone City. After ending up in Iron Heights, Joey Monteleone decides to do some meditating to get a handle on his anger. This lead to the discovery of Joey’s mutant ability. Yes, mutant. Through meditation, Monteleone was able to astral project himself and cause havoc in Iron Heights. One day, his projection got stuck in a vat of tar, thus, Tar Pit was born.

The Flash 212

Monteleone’s normal body went into coma while Tar Pit went forth throughout the world, continuing his criminal activity. In the show, he briefly took his comic book form, before being iced by Barry. While this episode didn’t focus too heavily on Tar Pit’s past, we do know he had a criminal history. It’s also safe to say we haven’t seen the last of him.

Harry Wells

Wow. Wells went on a pretty heavy guilt trip for most of tonight. After doing Zoom’s bidding and syphoning Barry’s Speedforce, Wells continued to show more and more that he had a heart. This was evidenced throughout the episode, and especially when Wells confessed that one day he would betray Barry. Well, after successfully syphoning Barry’s speed, and being inadvertently responsible for Iris’ hospital stay, Wells confessed to what he was up to.

The Flash 212

At first, the team didn’t take it well. The confession lead to a solid hook to Wells’ face. However, after deliberation, the team forgave Wells and are now primed to do some awesome things next week. But before we get into that, I would like to point out that Wells’ method of obtaining the speedforce worked out perfectly. Is it possible that his methods will lead to another Velocity – 9 drug that he developed earlier this season? I would think this has to be some sort of breakthrough. In any case, I am confident we’ll see Wells in speedster form this season.

West Family

After more than a few weeks, the West family drama seems to have been resolved. Wally is in the family fold and I think we can expect to see a lot more of Wally either this season or the next.

The Flash 212

I’m honestly not quite sure how I feel about Wally becoming a speedster. I’m fine with Garrick and the Quick family simply because they’ll eventually return to Earth 2, but it feels a little too soon for a Kid Flash. Still, seeing Barry and Wally interacting, especially with Barry saving Wally’s life for the first time, was a welcomed sight. There’s no doubt that Wally’s curiosity in the Flash will continue to build.

Next week, some of Team Flash journeys to Earth 2 in attempt to close the breaches and take the fight to Zoom. Without getting too heavy into spoilers, it’s safe to say we’ll run into some of the team’s dopplegangers in process. Check out the promo below!

As always, thanks for reading! See you tomorrow!

Legends of Tomorrow kept the momentum it built up last week and delivered another great episode. There’s really no telling where Legends is going to go to next. That’ll probably be the new norm in DCTV since, you know, they have all of time to explore.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Last week, I went over just how Savage might have come across some Nuclear Warheads in Norway 1975. In what was supposed to be an auction of sorts, our Legends crashed the party and made an attempt on Savage’s life. The attempt was thwarted when Savage activated a nuclear bomb. Before that though, we were treated by an appearance of Damien Darhk. This was a nice touch to further tie the DCTV universe together.

Legends of Tomorrow 102

In Arrow, it’s been stated that Darhk doesn’t seem to age. While we haven’t found the reason for this yet, it’s kinda nice to see same appearance, just in 1975. It also makes sense that Darhk would be there with an organization, which we can only assume is H.I.V.E.

The Time Steam

We got an even better handle on just how the time stream will be affected with all this time traveling. One of the major consequences last night was Stein’s life. Having gone back and talked to his younger self, Stein was in danger of never meeting his would-be wife and thus would go on to live the single life.

Legends of Tomorrow 102

Aside from that, we also got deeper into the relationship between Hawkgirl and Hawkman. On the dagger they were both initially killed by, a secret love poem discussed how destiny and love were tied together. Remembering reading this inscription helped trigger some of Hawkgirl’s feelings for her partner.

Legends of Tomorrow 102

However, he soon died and she was severely injured. With Hawkman dead, one would think that Rip and company will probably head back into the future to pick up Hawkman’s reincarnated self.

Ivy Town

Other than Norway, the Legends landed in Ivy Town, New England. While here, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Atom stumbled into Savage’s home to steal the dagger used to kill Hawkman and Hawkgirl in ancient Egypt. As for the rest of the team, they visited Ivy University. Of course, the name of the university suggests that they’re an ivy-league school. In the comics, the school’s students and faculty have some of the brightest minds. Part of their faculty consists of Ray Palmer (Atom), Ryan Choi (Atom Post-Palmer), and Doris Zuel (Giganta).

Legends of Tomorrow 102

Giganta is a villain that can grow in size. In the past, she has been affiliated with the Injustice League, the Secret Six, and The Legion of Doom. While I doubt we’ll see Zuel in this universe, it’s nice to know the possibility is there.

Legends of Tomorrow 102

Ivy town is also a place that acts like a magnet to happenings involving theoretical physics and vortexs. Much of this is attributed to constant experimentation at the hands of Ray Palmer. It would’t be all that surprising if Ivy Town shows up again down the line in either Arrow or The Flash.

By the end of the episode it appears Rip Hunter’s team seems to be coming together. It’s exciting to see where this show will go next. But if I had to guess? Probably a few decades after 2016 to pick up Hawkman.

That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading!

Well, I’ll be the first to admit it: This episode was tough to get through. Fortunately, we did get a couple of cool easter eggs and a tiny bit of plot advancement, so let’s get started.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Last night, we got a lot of Felicity scenes. After all, the majority of this episode was about her coping with her injury and Diggle learning how to trust his brother again. Both of these plot lines were very on-the-surface, so I’ll spare you the recap. By the end of the episode, we should come away with the fact that Diggle has learned how to trust his brother, Andy, again, and that Felicity has dealt with her injury and retains hope that she will walk again.

Felicity

As I mentioned last week, it’s entirely possible Felicty could walk again with the help of Mr. Terrific and/or Ray Palmer. But since one of those guys is currently time traveling, it would make more sense for Mr. Terrific to devise a way to get the job done.

Arrow 411

On another note, Felicity got her codename for Team Arrow this episode. Overwatch, which is a name Oliver came up with, will be her new codename. According to Oliver, “Oracle” was taken. Before we get our hopes up, I’m sure this was just a line drop by the creators to playfully jab at those in the know. Last week, I did talk about the similarities between Felicity’s situation and Gotham’s Oracle. We also know that the creators denied Felicity having anything to do with Oracle’s character arc. However, “Overwatch” feels like a major cop-out. In any case, her paralysis may not last much longer. In the flash-forward, Oliver and Felicity were seen sitting in a car post-grave-talk with Barry Allen. She wasn’t exactly moving her legs, but there was also no wheelchair in sight.

Kord Sighting

Arrow 411

Kord Industries made another appearance tonight while Team Arrow had a stakeout in an attempt to catch the Shadowspire at work. Kord Industries has a direct tie to the Blue Beetle. While I assume we won’t be seeing the Blue Beetle anytime soon, it’s nice to see the universe continue to expand. If you’d like to read more about Kord Industries and the Blue Beetle, check out the recap on an episode earlier this season.

A.R.G.U.S.

It’s extremely unfortunate that Amanda Waller was possibly killed off by a villain-of-the-week. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the DCTV Universe gets rid of one Amanda Waller just as the DC Cinematic Universe is on the verge of adding what studio probably thinks is the definitive version of the character. We’ve seen this a few times on Arrow. First, we were teased with a Harley appearance, then we saw Deadshot die unnecessarily, and the Suicide Squad disbanded all in the name of the cinematic universe. It sucks they can’t co-exist.

Arrow 411

With that out of the way, we’re all left wondering exactly what Rubicon is and why the Shadowspire wanted the codes for it so badly. There’s a variety of things that it could be.

Arrow 411

My guess? It probably has something to do with Lian-Yu. Maybe it’s the A.R.G.U.S. prison there, maybe it’s a basement full of mystical goodies. In any case, it’s extremely important to note that the presumed boss of the Shadowspire is the same man Oliver is answering to in his Lian-Yu flashbacks.

Arrow 411

With how the show is going now, any return to present day Lian-Yu is welcomed, simply because I imagine Deathstroke is getting a little tired of the beach and jungle.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!

Last week, we knew The Reverse-Flash would be making an appearance. Fortunately, we were treated as to how exactly that happened. But that’s all beside one of the biggest bombshells this series has been dealt yet.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

I’ll get right down to it. I have two theories as to Zoom is. The first:

Hunter Zolomon

Alright, for those who aren’t comic readers, I’ll do my best to explain. At the end of last night’s episode, Caitlin and Garrick went to a park in Central City so that Garrick to show Caitlin who his doppleganger was. Caitlin had previously searching for Garrick’s doppleganger in an attempt to draw healthy blood cells into our Garrick. A couple of weeks ago, we also found out Garrick was in fact dying. Keep that in mind.

The Flash 211

When Caitlin met Garrick at the park, it was to show her his doppleganger. Here’s the kicker: Garrick claimed that his doppleganger didn’t share the name “Jay Garrick.” Instead, again, according to Garrick, Zolomon’s mother died in chidbirth, forcing Zolomon to bounce around between foster homes. Eventually, Zolomon would find a foster family, and thus his name was changed to Hunter Zolomon. This would end there if it wasn’t for Zolomon’s involvement with Flash in the comics.

The Flash 211

In the comics, Hunter Zolomon goes by the name Zoom. That’s right. We had a Zoom sighting last night. That’d be great and all, but I think we’ve been seeing Zoom a lot more often than we’ve thought.

The Flash 211

In the first episode of this season, we first saw Jay Garrick taking pictures of Barry at a crime scene. I found this extremely odd. In the recap, I wrote:

Snapping the pics leads me to believe Garrick isn’t alone and, for right now, puts him in an untrustworthy light. Maybe Garrick has no idea what’s going on in this current universe and is researching everything about The Flash, or maybe not. For all we know, Jay Garrick is Professor Zoom in disguise. The pictures could have been used to show Atom Smasher who The Flash was. After all, Atom Smasher did say he had been dealt a curveball when Barry appeared at his hideout, claiming, “I thought I was going to have to come looking for you.”

While I’ve been swaying between various suspects, it seems to be all tying back to this first theory. I do indeed believe Hunter Zolomon is Zoom, I just happen to believe Zolomon’s been on Team Flash this whole time. Whenever Garrick and Zoom are on the field at the same time, it’s possible Team Flash is reacting to a Speed Mirage. Speed Mirage’s were first shown in use by last season’s Eobard Thawne. Of course, Zoom’s mirage is a lot more advanced. Let’s also not forget we’ve only been told by Garrick that he tangled with Zoom. No one has actually witnessed it.

The Flash 211 zoom

Finally, as a last piece of evidence, our Garrick says he’s sick, and the only way to fix himself is to get his speed back. Zoom is after Barry’s speed. It’s possible Zoom is dying and needs to draw on Speed Force to stay alive. Keep your eyes opened. I know for me, every Garrick scene from here on out will be watched very closely.

The Reverse-Flash

After a good explanation given to Team Flash by Harry, we learned that this Thawne is in fact younger than the one that was erased from existence by Eddie. If there’s anything we should take away from this most recent meeting between Flash and The Reverse-Flash, it’s that Thawne made it clear to Barry that their fates are intertwined, and that both are destined to fight forever.

The Flash 211

The Reverse-Flash hates Barry because he can’t be him. It’s also well-documented that Zoom’s costume closely resembles The Flash’s. Could it be possible that upon disintegrating and entering the vortex at the end of last season, Thawne was transformed into Zoom?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Wells

Harry hasn’t come clean about kill Turtle just yet. For now, Team Flash believes Turtle died of a brain aneurysm. Garrick believes it might have been Wells who did it and tries to pit Wells and Team Flash against each other. Going back to what I said above, should Garrick’s cover be blown, he’d want the team to distrust Wells and frame him for being a Zoom spy, or Zoom himself. Wells is slowly finding a way to beat Zoom and simultaneously digging his own grave. With any luck, he’ll be Quick soon.

Vibe’s Goggles

vibedcnation

With the help of Harry, Cisco was able to explore his powers a bit more. It was through goggles that Cisco was able to vibe through time, and in this case, into the future. Vibe’s goggles have been a constant in the comics. It’d be nice if his costume was too.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CALAxxcBhI

Legends of Tomorrow got off to a fantastic start. The pilot episode had tons of DC Universe references and character pairings we didn’t know we wanted until we got them. We also got some answers as to why Rip Hunter didn’t approach any of the Justice League members and why each Legend was selected. So let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoiler Ahead!

While the assembly of the team felt a little rushed at times, the pacing was kept even all the way through. We each got a refresher course on who these characters are and what their state of mind is right now. What’s even more impressive is how well each character transitioned over into this show. I feel that’s why the quick refresher course worked so well because we’ve seen these people before and we know what they’ve been all about up until this point.

Legends of Tomorrow 101

What’s even more significant is that we finally get to dig deeper into the presonal problems these characters all have. For example, Ray Palmer feels insignificant despite creating the Atom suit and making other technological advancements. The same can probably be said about Martin Stein. Regardless, each of these characters has their reasoning for embarking on this trip and all seem to be in pursuit of finding themselves.

Legends of Tomorrow 101

I belive the same can be said about Captain Cold and Heat Wave. While they intend to keep up their criminal lifestyle, I feel as though these two will be coming out the other side changed in one way or another. But will Rip Hunter wipe each of the team member’s memories once the mission is completed? Isn’t that the question of the day…

Rip Hunter

Hunter’s tragic story is told at the start of the series. His lover and his son were both murdered in cold blood by Vandal Savage. With revenge in mind, Hunter petitions the Time Master Council for permission to lead a sanctioned mission to destroy Vandal Savage before he ever comes into power. After denying him that, Hunter steals a time-traveling ship to embark on an unsanctioned mission to destroy Vandal Savage. That’s where our “Legends” come in.

Legends of Tomorrow 101

As we’d come to find out, Hunter lied to the “Legends” in an effort to get them join him on his crusade. Turns out that none of the people he recruited for the team had any impact on the overall timeline. This news came as a bit of a blow to the team and was reminiscent of Reverse-Flash giving the same news to another Rogue, Captain Boomerang in the comics:

Legends of Tomorrow 101

After stealing the ship, we can assume that Hunter was stripped of his “Captain” status and was probably declared a fugitive by the Time Masters Council. This lead to a sort of time-traveling bounty hunter to be hot on Hunter’s trail.

Chronos

Chronos has a few scenarios as to where he came from. Originally starting as an Atom villain, Chronos was often painted as a petty criminal early on. Over time, his ability to bend space and time began to be showcased in the comics. He has more than a few different appearances and a few people who have taken up the mantle of Chronos. With that being said, a time-traveling Chronos has been seen before. For those of you keeping track, Chronos has appeared in animated series too, most prominently in an episode of Justice League.

Legends of Tomorrow 101

In the episode, Chronos time travels into the past to steal ancient artifacts. One of the artifacts Chronos happened to be after was a utility belt found in the Justice League’s watchtower. A couple of Leaguers jumped into a time vortex in pursuit of Chronos, which lead them to Gotham City in the future. With the help of Batman Beyond, Chronos was stopped. Now, will we see a live-action Batman Beyond in Legends of Tomorrow? One can dream.

Legends of Tomorrow 101.png.cf

Chronos in Legends of Tomorrow seems to be employed by the Time Council in an attempt to wrangle Rip Hunter back into the fold and prevent him from damaging the timeline. After all, the Council is only worried about protecting the timeline and not the world itself.

Gideon

Two Gideon sightings in two nights?! Amazing! In case you forgot, Gideon is an artificial intelligence that was created by Barry Allen, The Flash. Gideon was obviously created in the future, when the technology is accessible to Barry. However, it’s extremely important to note that Gideon once made reference to the Justice League in a Flash episode in the first season. Along with stating she was created by Barry, she addressed Barry as “one of the founding members of the -” before being cut off by Cisco.

gideon Legends of Tomorrow 101

We now know that Gideon has been used by Barry Allen in the future, Reverse-Flash Eobard Thawne, presumably the Justice League, and now, at the end of time, Rip Hunter. I think it’s safe to say Gideon is DC’s R2-D2; She’s seen it all.

Norway, 1975

The episode ends in 1975 Norway. It can be assumed that our Legends will be heading back into the 70s to try and take out Savage before he gets up to no good. Savage does remark that he plans on starting another war. He says this as he brushes up against what we can assume is a nuclear weapon. In the 1970’s, Norway, in partnership with Yugoslavia, had some involvement in the creation of nuclear weapons. The “war” Savage alludes to will probably be stopped by the Legends.

It’s been quite a ride these past three days, but it’s been fun! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you all next week!

Along with a ton of other DC related releases, we are finally back from hiatus with Arrow and it feels great. Fans have been wondering whether or not Felicity would be the one in the grave just a few months from today. Other than that, we got the return of a villain and a honorable meeting with Damien Darhk. So let’s get started!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Who’s in the Grave?!

The episode opened with the graveyard. Barry and Oliver were once again seen talking. This opening hinted at Felicity being in the grave, but as we found out by the end of the episode, she is alive and…well she’s not okay, but she’s alive. Now, we’ve had months to speculate about this and now at least one key candidate is out of the running. That leaves Diggle, Laurel, Thea, Captain Lance, and Felicity’s mom. Over the last few weeks, I have been heavily leaning toward the answer being Felicity’s mom simply because I don’t think the show will kill off a major character.

Barry + Arrow 401

In some ways, Felicity’s mom has been the catalyst to unite the Queen and Lance family again. After what seems to be a year of Lance and Oliver not playing nice with each other, Felicity’s mom shows up and things are starting to smooth over. Oliver has forgiven Lance for his transgressions and Lance is no longer standing in the way of Oliver “dropping bodies.” The status quo has been set, and will continue to be set within these next few episodes. Once Darhk takes out Felicity’s mom, be it accidental or not, the one figure holding the two families together will be taken away.

Arrow 409

Lance may blame Oliver for it, Felicity may have trouble coming to terms with it herself. In any case, the death of Felicity’s mom will send Team Arrow into disarray, especially since the death will have struck so close to home. In all, I think Felicity’s mom is in the grave.

Arrow 406

Oracle..or not?

Those familiar with Batman lore will know that the Oracle is the name adopted by Barbara Gordon after she is shot and left for dead by the Joker. The bullet paralyzed Gordon, but instead of giving up crime-fighting, she instead used her abilities to become more tech-savy and proved to be a major asset to Batman time and time again.

Oracle Arrow 410

While Felicity’s fate is uncertain, we can agree that Oracle seems to be the direction the showrunners are taking us. Unfortunately, (or fortunately?), Executive Producer Wendy Mericle shot down the theory by saying,

“That’s something we definitely talked about [doing] with Felicity in the beginning…. But yeah, it will not be Oracle, sadly. People have to tune in to see what happens.”

So with Oracle off the table, will Felicity get back on her feet soon? Maybe if Ray Palmer wasn’t time traveling, he could probably lend her some nano tech…

Anarky

Anarky was back this week and was even more impressive than the last time we saw him. Previously a Batman villain, Anarky is known to be up to no good, but his desires sometimes fall in line with our heroes too.

Anarky Arrow 410

In this case, Anarky wanted to personally kill Darhk. The temptation was too strong and Oliver cut him loose on the world hoping that Anarky would do the deed.

Arrow 410

For me, this is probably the most desperate thing Oliver has done on the show. It was stupid and it was reckless, but regardless, Anarky was stopped before he could harm what we thought were innocent people.

Darhk Family

We got our first look at Darhk’s family in the midseason finale. Tonight, we got an even better look at them. As it turns out, Darhk’s wife is on whatever Darhk has been scheming.

Arrow 410

What’s even more troubling is that Darhk’s wife wanted to end Team Arrow right then and there. Darhk, looking honorable for once, decided to instead declare a cease-fire, at least for a little while. I suppose it’s possible Darhk’s wife is the one pulling the strings. If that’s the case, Team Arrow is going to be in for quite a surprise.

Diggle Bros.

Diggle got some words of wisdom from his wife and decided to approach his brother a different way. Diggle had come to wits end and decided to punch his brother until his knuckles bled. After that didn’t work, Diggle decided to play the bro card and ended up playing a card game to end the night.

Arrow 410

There’s hope yet that Diggle’s brother comes around and helps out in the long run. I can see him riding off into the sunset in an attempt to find himself at the end of this season.

The Flash is back tonight with familiar faces and a new villain! This episode felt like it stumbled out of the hiatus, but in all, we got a solid episode with an excellent stinger. More after the jump!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

The West family drama was present in some of this episode. By the end of the episode, Wally is starting to come around and Joe isn’t trying to be an “instant-dad” anymore. Going by this, we can assume Wally will be sticking around for a bit and maybe both Joe and Iris will be a positive influence on some of Wally’s other activities.

the Flash 210

Still, Wally will probably have some more trouble adapting into this new family dynamic. If anything, Wally will most likely butt heads with Barry once the two start communicating more. If the relationship between Patty and Barry continues to deteriorate, we can also assume most interactions with Barry will be somewhat negative.

The Flash 210

Harry seems to be adapting to his situation in Earth 1. At the end of the midseason finale, we saw Harry agree to Zoom’s demands by helping Barry get faster only to have Zoom feast on Barry’s speed in the near future. It seems Harry has been inspired by Cisco and has now shifted his allegiance to…good? It’s hard to say, with killing Turtle and everything, but we can at least assume Harry is on board with killing Zoom in the long run.

Midway City

Midway City was briefly mentioned a couple of times this episode by Patty. It’s a city located in Michigan that plays host to various heroes and villains. Surprising, right? Midway City is most prominently inhabited by both Hawkman and Hawkgirl. There’s even an area in the city dubbed “Hawk Valley” where Hawkman likes to brood. It sounds like a place we could find our Hawkman and Hawkgirl, you know, if they weren’t traveling through time and such.

Jay Garrick

The Flash 210

Garrick is ill, and potentially dying at an accelerated rate. A reasonably upset Caitlin Snow found this information out by secretly taking Garrick’s DNA sample. They both came to the realization that Garrick will be cured of whatever’s wrong with him should his speed come back. Of course, the only way to do that is to stop Zoom.

Wells

Flash 405

Yeah, so he may have killed Turtle. But as Harry said, he’d do anything to get his daughter back. Hopefully Harry has what he needs to get his speedforce formula working because it’s about time we see Johnny Quick enter the battle.

Turtle

Turtle isn’t new to the Flash universe. In fact, Turtle is Jay Garrick’s villain. Of course, there are a couple of Turtle’s in the comics, but the first and most prominent is the one belonging to the Secret Society of Super-Villains. In the comics, Turtle usually operates out of Keystone City. Like his TV counterpart, Turtle has the ability to take the speed out of objects, and especially the Flash.

TurtleFlash 210

Turtle’s character was created in 1945 by Gardner Fox and Martin Naydel. If the later name sounds familiar, you’re probably remembering it from a call-out in tonight’s episode. In the episode, Turtle’s lair was in the Naydel Library.

The Flash 210

Reverse-Flash

The Reverse-Flash made his appearance in the stinger of tonight’s episode. It’s hard to say how much of an impact the Reverse-Flash will have on the ongoing events of Earth 1. The street looked eerily similar to that of Barry’s childhood home, however, I think it’s safe to assume that the Reverse-Flash has found himself in present day Earth 1. What’s better is that we finally had a Gideon sighting.

The Flash 210

Since the last time we saw Thawne, one would assume that this Reverse-Flash is from another Earth. However, the suit Thawne is wearing looks to be the same we’re accustomed to seeing. Whether or not Thawne survived the events of last season or if this Thawne is entirely different remains to be seen.

Next week can’t come soon enough! Until then, I’ll see you right back here tomorrow night for Arrow!

Warner Brothers presented a standalone special on The CW tonight, showcasing off the upcoming and future film projects coming from DC Films. The special was hosted by the comic book man himself, Kevin Smith, along with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns. The special mainly served as a way to get people up to speed on who the characters are and what roles they are going to play in the upcoming DC cinematic universe. With Kevin Smith serving up the soft ball sized questions and Geoff Johns explaining everything pretty well, that it served well what it set out to do. Watching Kevin Smith’s enthusiastic responses really sucked me into the hype for the new DC films.

suicidesquadprops-164287

First up, they cover ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Nothing really new here, they just show the same clips from the previous trailers with the voice overs from the cast members recanting their first encounters with DC comics. Geoff Johns just goes over the motivation behind the two heroes clashing head to head along with some commentary clips from Zach Snyder. ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ is out out in theaters March 25, 2016.

SuicideSquad

Next up, Suicide Squad. I’m actually more excited for this film than Batman v. Superman. I can already tell that Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as Joker are just going to steal the movie. They premiered the new trailer which got me really hyped with the Bohemian Rhapsody track. Not much was revealed about the plot aside from what we already know from the previous trailer. I don’t care about the naysayers, I think The Joker looks bad-ass and that laugh was pretty good. The Suicide Squad try to save the world on August 5, 2016.

WonderWomanLogo

Wonder Woman is up next, now based on what they show, which is not much, it left me flat. The first thing that I thought about after seeing some of the scenes was them taking the same route as Captain America: The First Avenger. Gal Gadot does look phenomenal as Wonder Woman and Ido hope later on we see more of the plot in order to get me hyped for the film. Take a look at the first footage from the ‘Wonder Woman’ film here. ‘Wonder Woman’ is set to be released in Summer 2017.
JusticeLeague

Kevin Smith then segued into who else would be in the Justice league Movies. During this part we some quick flashes of what seems to be some concept art for the other characters in the film. At this point Geoff Johns gives a quick rundown of the back stories for the other characters that include Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) , Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and the announcement of the night being that Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps will be joining the Justice League.

One of the interesting things happened during the explanation of The Flash, Geoff Johns gives kudos to the TV version of the flash and explains this flash will be different as its the cinematic version of the character with a slightly  different origin. The bring up how Barry can easily time travel and access different planes of reality. ‘Justice League’ is slated to be released on November 2017.

I’m excited to see DC finally step it up and go head to head with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only time will tell if its too late or not enough to compete. Are you guys excited let us know in the comments section.

The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, the spin-off series of Arrow and The Flash, will premiere later this month on January 21. The show’s junior varsity superheroes like The Atom, Firestorm, and White Canary team-up and travel back in time to prevent Vandal Savage from dominating the future. His name is Vandal Savage — who thought it was a good idea to get him in office?

Anyway, a new clip released by The CW shows off Caity Lotz’s White Canary — resurrected and renewed thanks to John Constantine — as she clears house in a biker bar during the Ford administration.

Neat! I always loved Lotz’s Canary and I’m actually happy she was brought back and not kept dead. Are you excited for Legends of Tomorrow like we are?

Briefly: Following that exciting-as-hell first trailer late last month, the stylish key art from a few weeks back, and the most recent character posters, the CW has just debuted a brand new trailer for next month’s Legends of Tomorrow.

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber (The Flash, Alias); Brandon Routh (Arrow, Superman Returns); Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who); Caity Lotz (Arrow); Ciarra Renee (Pippin); Franz Drameh (Edge of Tomorrow); with Dominic Purcell (The Flash, Prison Break); and Wentworth Miller (The Flash, Prison Break).

Take a look at the trailer below, and be sure to let us know how excited you are for the January 21st premiere!

Note: In case you missed it, check out last night’s recap of The Flash!

Arrow‘s midseason finale was quite an episode. Along with another confrontation with Darhk, we got a lot of answers as to what Darhk’s endgame is, hints at who’s in the grave, and the overall state of Star City since Oliver basically challenged Darhk in broad daylight. So without further ado…

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Darhk and HIVE’s presence in Star City has always been a sort of a mystery until tonight. I mean sure, we need a villain for this season of Arrow, but why would a super powerful mystical being choose Star City to set up shop in? Turns out Darhk is working with or possibly for a committee of people. It’s possible that this committee is in charge of HIVE, with Darhk acting as a general. Still, with the power Darhk processes, why work for anyone? It’s a little unclear for me.

Arrow 409

In any case, Darhk and HIVE plan to hit the “reset” button on all of humanity by gassing the population. A few episodes back, Darhk told Oliver to leave the bay alone. Oliver called him on his bluff and began cleaning the bay up. This lead to a brief terrorist attack on all of the volunteers Oliver got to the bay. The purpose of the bay, as it was revealed, was to harvest algae to produce clean air. All of this clean air was to be used in an underground bunker of sorts. As a back up plan, it would seem Darhk used a corn farm to produce clean air instead. By the end of the episode, it would seem that project Genesis is still in full swing and will be launching “phase four” very soon.

Damien Darhk

I wanted to point out three things about Darhk this episode. The first comes up after he kidnaps Team Arrow in their civilian roles. At the holiday party, Darhk walks in and looks at Thea. He scoffs, almost as if he knows that she’s working with the Green Arrow after their little fight a couple of episodes back. By now, it looks like Darhk is quite the fool by not having figured out Oliver is the Green Arrow. Between challenging him at the bay in the middle of the day and fighting the Malcolm Merlyn’s Green Arrow with sans facial hair, you’d think Darhk would begin to at least piece some of the Green Arrow’s identity together.

Arrow 409

The second is Darhk has a family that he goes home to every night. What?! I doubt Darhk is keeping his alter-ego from his wife. He’d have to be juggling a set of pretty good lies to keep that from her. It’s possible that his family is knowledgeable in the mysticism he employs everyday. If that’s the case, the Darhk Family becomes instantly creepier.

Arrow 409

Lastly, when Merlyn came to town again to visit Thea, he explained that Darhk is using mysticism that is unknown to the League of Assassins, making Merlyn afraid. Most of this episode was dealing with themes of father’s or significant others making decisions to protect their loved ones. In Merlyn’s case, despite being scared, he fought Darhk one-on-one and almost died doing it. Merlyn had every intent of killing Darhk during this fight, and he would’ve too if it hadn’t been for Darhk’snti-explosion spell.

Lian-Yu Flashback

In Oliver’s flashback, we continued to follow him in search of the mystic objects scattered around Lian-Yu. This lead him back to the ship that we last saw in season two. For those of you who need a refresher, Oliver once battled a crazed Slade Wilson on board this ship before it blew up and sank. In this episode, Oliver had to swim over to the ship and take out a scroll. It could be a map, or it could be a list of spells. There’s really no telling, but we know for certain the document will be important. It’s a little strange that a mystic item would be found on the Amazo to begin with.

Amazo_012

In the comics, Amazo isn’t a ship at all. Instead, Amazo is an android that is able to duplicate powers he comes into contact with, which makes him very dangerous. At times, it’s taken the entire Justice League to stop him. But, in this Arrowverse, he’s just a ship. Who knows, maybe we’ll see an actual Amazo next season.

Lance

Lance’s association with Darhk, and Oliver’s knowledge of it finally came to light today, however, it wasn’t as big of a deal as we all though it would be. Sure, Laurel was upset for a little bit, but she came to peace with it rather quickly. She didn’t even bring it up with Oliver afterward either. On the plus side, we got past what might have been a drawn out family squabble that frankly, we’ve had enough of when it comes to the Lance family.

Who’s in the Grave?!

Arrow 409

During the holiday party, Felicity spotted her mom getting a little touchy with Lance. Lance was introduced as her mom’s “boyfriend” and Lance told Felicity that Laurel doesn’t know. In any case, Darhk made his entrance and saw everyone in Oliver’s circle, including Felicity’s mother next to Lance. Now, I know Felicity looked to be seriously injured, or dead, in the closing minute of this episode, but I’m sure this is just a misdirect. I don’t think they’d kill off one of the main characters so soon into the season, let alone Felicity. With that said, I’m standing by my belief that Felicity’s mom is the one in the grave.

Still, don’t let this theory detract from what was otherwise a fantastic sequence that took place at the end of this episode. The sound of the bullets juxtaposed with the sounds of “The Little Drummer”‘s drums in the background was awesome. Moments like these is what every show strives for, and this particular scene will have a lasting impact on every Arrow fan’s mind for the rest of the year.

That’s all for this year! Thanks for reading up until this point. It’s been a great nine episodes for The Flash and Arrow. When the two series return in January with Legends of Tomorrow, you can expect three recaps a week! As for any news on DC TV, look for it here on Geekscape, or follow me on Twitter! Again, thank you all and happy holidays!

The midseason finale of The Flash aired this week, and instead of just having mostly filler with a stinger at the end, the folks behind the show once again pulled out all the stops to give us one of the strongest episodes this season. It’s hard to believe we’re already here at the midseason, but take solace in the fact that Legends of Tomorrow is just around the corner and you will be seeing recaps here on Geekscape as well. For now, let’s dive into this episode!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

This episode starts with Harry trying his very best to escape Zoom in STAR Labs. Besides that, there’s no context as to where everyone else was. It seems Harry went straight to one of his guns to try to engage Zoom, but he was too slow. Later in the episode, Harry was seen working near the Comic Treadmill. It’s safe to assume that Harry also sleeps at STAR Labs to avoid the risk of someone else seeing him and getting shot in the chest again. I’m under the impression Zoom showed up after everyone else had gone home for the day, leaving Harry alone in STAR Labs.

the flash 409

After wishing him a Merry Christmas, Zoom proceeds to court Harry into helping him coach Barry into gaining more speed. If you remember a few weeks ago, one of my articles talked about Zoom’s speedforce draining capabilities. By the end of this episode, it’s confirmed that Zoom wants Barry to get stronger in the speedforce so Zoom can drain Barry and become more powerful. This explains these past eight weeks or so with villains popping up one at a time to combat the Flash on Earth 1. So, like last season, we can expect Harrison Wells coaching Barry up to become faster. The main difference here is that Harry will feel guilty for making this deal with Zoom. I’m seriously hoping Harry takes the speedforce drug himself to help Barry fight Zoom.

The Flash 409

As for the main plot this episode, we saw Weather Wizard break The Trickster and Captain Cold out of Iron Heights. Their goal was pretty simple – kill the flash – but a couple of interesting developments happened aside from Weather Wizard and Trickster’s plan. For one, Garrick stated that there is no Trickster on Earth 2. This is an interesting note, mostly due to the fact that Earth 1’s dopplegangers are similar to their Earth 2’s counterparts. However, it’s completely possible that the Trickster is actually just living a docile life in Earth 2. In any case, depending on how serious you want to take it, the Trickster’s old costume from when he terrorized Central City a couple of decades ago, matches the same costume he wore when he appeared in 90’s Flash television series.

flash 409 tricksterog

flash 409 trickster

If we are to take the 90s series as cannon with the series we’re watching now, then we would have to place the 90’s Flash series in a different Earth or at the very least, a different timeline. It’s also worth noting that the actor that plays Barry’s dad was the Flash in the 90’s television series.

Captain Cold

the flash 409

After warning the Flash, Snart heads out into Central City. By the time Legends of Tomorrow rolls around, he will probably already have linked up with Heat Wave. Snart isn’t interested in playing hero, but his connection to the Flash is making him second guess most of his villainous behavior. We already have enough character development featured in The Flash for him to take the stage in just a few weeks.

Okamura Toys

The Flash 409

This was a fantastic shoutout to a not-so-well-known hero, the Toyman. If the name sounds familiar, it should. Toyman grew up to be a recluse, often stowed away in his lab. He takes his name after the first Toyman, Winslow Schott, who was very much a villain. Other than the name and the association with toys, Hiro Okamura isn’t a villain at all. In many cases found in the comics, Okamura helps the Justice League in ridding the Earth of Kryptonite and destroying a meteor made of Kryptonite heading to Earth.

The Flash 409

His efforts in helping the Justice League leads him to becoming an honorary member of the Justice League all before the age of twenty. His genius-level intellect and fantastic ability to build bots and toys to combat villains would make for a good appearence on either The Flash or Arrow. It’s hard to guess where exactly Okamura is since the his family’s factory seems to have been shut down four years ago. It’s possible his parents died, leading the factory to close. Financial trouble doesn’t seem right since the stuffed teddy bears sounded like they were in high-demand. In Earth 2, Harry gave one to his daughter when she was six. In Earth 1, Patty received one from her father when she was…wait a minute…

Wally West

the flash 409

Wally West was finally introduced to the rest of the West family. What better way than a Christmas party? By now, fans know that Wally is destined to become a Speedster. It’s unclear how or why he comes into contact with the speedforce, or if it will even happen this season (it probably will). The speedster family is coming together!

That’s it for now! See you all tomorrow! Thanks for reading!

Briefly: Following that exciting-as-hell first trailer late last month, the CW has just unveiled some official key art for next year’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

Take a look at the poster below, rewatch the first trailer here, and let us know how excited you are for the January 21st premiere!

Legends

Last night, we got the conclusion of our two-parter crossover event. As a fan of both shows, seeing the people working behind the scenes constantly one-upping their last go around is fascinating. Fans know that both shows have had crossovers before, but not like this.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

The first part of this crossover event ended with Oliver seeing his son for the first time. The stinger was very much an Arrow stinger, but that didn’t make it any less impactful. In fact, it became one of the centerpieces behind the overarching plot with Savage. In short, Oliver grapples with knowing he has a son that he’s missed out on for about nine years. He had the very good point about wanting to take some time to himself to process this information, but this lead to a pretty big fight with Felicity on the grounds that he wouldn’t withhold any secrets anymore. This lead to Oliver not being in the right mindset. This, coupled with Cisco’s tech not working, lead to a failure of the mission and decimation of Central City. However, Flash was able to outrun it all and ended up going back in time.

Arrow 408

If you’re just watching Arrow, and I don’t know why you would be, I’m sure this was a pleasant surprise. For fans of The Flash, seeing Barry recognize the signs that time travel was imminent was exciting in itself. This time, Barry was very cautious about messing with the timeline, something Eobard Thawne warned him about last season. But, for the second time, Barry messed with the timeline by letting Oliver know what get’s his head out of the game and ultimately defeating Vandal Savage. According to Thawne, the outcome of changing the timeline can lead to a dire and even more menacing future. But if you’re thinking like Oliver, what can possibly be worse than having everyone but the Flash die?

Arrow 408

Once Savage is defeated, Team Arrow and Flash just leave his ashes lying there in a warehouse specifically for Malcolm Merlyn to pick up, I’m sure. Obviously, we know Savage has to come back in one form or another in time to incite the fear into Rip Hunter’s heart. Merlyn made the remark that Savage now “owes” him for presumably saving him or reviving him. I’m not entirely sure how Merlyn plans to do this since the Lazarus Pit is out of commission, thanks to Nyssa. But, being the current Ra’s and having access to the League’s knowledge of mysticism, I’m sure he can come up with something.

Arrow 408

It’s possible the dire future starts when Merlyn brings Savage back. His world domination can certainly begin should he take over the League of Assassins, or obtain any mystic artifacts the League keeps within Nanda Parbat. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Oliver’s Son

Oliver does indeed have a son. William is about nine years old and lives in Central City. William is big on all things Flash and is currently living an otherwise normal life. Before Flash reset the timeline, Oliver had planned on being a part of William’s life and was unsure he would ever tell Felicity about William’s existence. However, Felicity found out anyway and that lead to their big fight.

Arrow 408

Now that the timeline is reset, Oliver has decided to hide William’s existence from Felicity with the intent of checking in on William every now and then. This is sure to cause a rift between Felicity and Oliver at some point this season. It would seem the ship has sailed on telling Felicity when she gave him the opportunity to come out with what was bothering him. Oliver will now have to arrange trips to Central City without Felicity’s knowledge, unless he piggyback’s off of the Flash.

Arrow 408

In the comics, Oliver has a son by the name of Connor. Connor Hawke, is the offspring of Oliver and Oliver’s former girlfriend Sandra Hawke. Oliver held Conner once before leaving him with Sandra and opening a bank account for the two to help with Connor’s upbringing.

Arrow 408

Eventually, Connor and Oliver meet abroad and Oliver begins to train Connor as a pupil. While traveling together, Conner never found the right time to tell Oliver he was his father. Down the line, it was the Green Lantern who told Oliver the truth and Oliver took it as a betrayal. He accused Connor of plotting against him and the two ended their relationship on bad terms. After Oliver’s death at the hands of a terrorist organization in Metropolis, Connor Hawke has taken up the mantle of the Green Arrow a few times. Besides that title, Connor Hawke also goes by the Amber Archer, Shaft, and the Brave Bow.

If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll see William in training on Earth 2 or in Legends of Tomorrow.

Savage and the Nth Metal

Previously, I went in depth on what Savage’s role in Hawkgirl and Hawkman’s past along with their ties to the nth metal. Last night, mostly the whole story, along with the origin of the nth metal. It would appear the metal came from many meteors that would destroy or severely damage the Egyptian city.

Arrow 408

The meteors also seemed to have either been infused with the nth metal or its possible that maybe a Thanagarian ship was destroyed in Earth’s atmosphere.

Arrow 408

In any case, the Thanagarian connection will probably be more fleshed out in Legends of Tomorrow.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8Ra7QrdsGA

This week, fans of DCTV are in for a treat. Tonight, we got the first part of said treat in part one of a crossover event between The Flash and Arrow, and I must say, it was pretty awesome. Now that I’m thinking about it, we saw just about every major character this episode, except for Zoom. On top of that, part one of an introduction to the Legends of Tomorrow. What a time to be alive.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

This episode opens with a somewhat frightening introduction to Vandal Savage. Aside from being, well, creepy, Savage also shows off his expert skills in using old blades. I’m sure after living for a few thousand years, Savage must know a variety of combat techniques. We were hinted at his combat skills again when Malcolm Merlyn chimed in on what the League knows about Savage’s history with ancient Rome and China. It really says something about Savage’s track record if the League has known about him but has done nothing to stop him or has failed to stop him.

The Flash 208

Since Savage is described as “mystic” in this universe, it makes sense that the League is aware of his existence, which also probably makes Damien Darhk aware of Savage’s existence. If Darhk was enough to make Constantine uneasy, I can only imagine what he’d say about Savage. Right now, it almost seems as if Savage is every mystic being’s boogieman.

The Flash 208

Most of the episode dealt with Kendra getting her wings. Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, has already gotten his wings at this point and has been presumably tracking down Kendra, like Savage. Hawkman convinces everyone, including Kendra, that the only way she can realize her full potential is to jump off a building. It makes sense, but I wonder how or why Hall thought it’d be a good idea to jump off a building before rediscovering himself.

The Flash 208

Savage was able to fight off the Flash and Green Arrow a couple of times, even though the two heroes consider that last fight a draw. It’s obvious now why they need to form a team dedicated to solely taking down Savage. I know we were missing a few key members of the Legends team, but I assume we’ll see at least a couple more next week. To refresh, Captain Cold is still in jail, Firestorm is off training, Sara Lance is having a crisis of faith, and Atom is catching up on the last few months after being not-dead. The team will presumably get together once Rip Hunter arrives, which will hopefully be next week.

Chay-Ara, Hawkman, and the Thanagarian Connection

We finally got our Kendra Saunders-Hawkgirl connection. As it turns out, Kendra is the reincarnation of Chay-Ara. Chay-Ara, like in the comics, lived in ancient Egypt and gained her powers there. In the comics, both Hawkman and Hawkgirl’s reincarnation cycle started when a man by the name of Hath-Set used a particular alien knife made of nth metal to kill them both. The metal contains properties that negate gravity, gives the holder accelerated healing, immunity to harsh weather conditions and temperatures, and acts as a power source.  After the double murder, the metal in the knife, combined with the bond between the two, prompted the reincarnations.

The Flash 208

The knife came into being when Carter Hall, then Prince Khufu of ancient Egypt, found a crashed Thanagarian ship with a very hawk-like theme. Both Nabu and Teth Adam were with Khufu when he found it. If those last two names sound familiar to you, they should. Eventually, Nabu becomes the power source of Doctor Fate and Teth Adam becomes the Black Adam. In the crashed ship, they find nth metal and create a few tools from it, including the mace and the deadly knife used in the double murder. Among other things created was the Claw of Horus. Again, sound familiar? The Staff of Horus was used by Savage at the end of this episode. It was said by Hall that if Savage got a hold of the staff, he would be nearly impossible to beat. Using information based off the comics, we can assume nth metal exists in this universe, and Savage is currently using it to his advantage.

Arrow 208

This story makes some sense in that Savage is seen using carrying a variety of knives at the start of the episode. It’s possible Savage has taken Hath-Set’s place in killing the two and in an morbid twist, must kill Hawkgirl and Hawkman over and over to gain more power and continue to live.

The Speedforce Formula and Johnny Quick Update

Away from the excitement in Star city, Dr. Snow and Harry were able to work out the kinks to a formula to create a serum designed to give the user a boosted Speedforce. A few weeks ago, I wrote about Harry possibly creating the speedforce formula and becoming Johnny Quick.

Flash 405

It looks like the formula was created, only it was Jay Garrick who took the serum instead of Harry. We do know that the serum worked, otherwise Harry would be dead. However, according to Garrick, the effects wore off. At some point later this season, I think we’ll see Harry take the serum himself out of desperation to take down Zoom. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see Jay Garrick, Wally West, Barry Allen, Johnny and Jesse Quick all fighting Zoom at the same time. One can dream…

One last thing on Doctor Fate…

Doctor Fate The Flash 208

For those of you who remember some of the easter eggs in the ill-fated Constantine series, you’ll surely remember the appearance of Doctor Fate’s helmet. Since the Constantine and Arrow universes are linked now, we can assume Doctor Fate also exists in this Flash universe too. Take a look at what was planned for the second season of Constantine:

Inb4 Black Adam and Doctor Fate next year.

I need this show in my life, and I didn’t even know it until now! The first trailer for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow just hit the internet, and it has this geek hyping out HARD. I’m getting pumped for something I didn’t even know I wanted! Check it out below!

https://youtu.be/c7LlmaFg0lw

Legends of Tomorrow is poised to do for for TV what Marvel did with their movies. Create a giant expansive universe where all these amazing characters can interact with. We’ve already seen The Flash and Arrow crossing over constantly, and with Constantine making that badass appearance a few weeks ago, we know the creative teams working on these properties are going to utilize the characters fantastically.

The whole shebang starts off December 1st with an Arrow X The Flash event. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow hit’s the airwaves early 2016!

Note: Catch our recaps of last night’s episode of The Flash and last week’s Arrow!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC9rId9mbT0

You may noticed a change in pace for this week’s episode. Brotherhood was directed by longtime stunt coordinator James Bamford. This was his directorial debut and, I must say, the fight sequences were refreshing. Let’s jump in!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Being the last possible character that has endured relatively the least amount of family drama, Diggle and his brother took center stage this week. This was a fine twist to throw in as Team Arrow gets closer and closer to infiltrating Darhk’s HIVE organization. With Lance on the verge of losing Darhk’s trust, Oliver feels that he must step in and become both the spy and hero. This sounds like a repeat of last season’s League of Assassins plot, which Felicity and Diggle are quick point out, and in the interest of character development, Oliver is convinced to fight HIVE in daylight, rather than in the shadows.

Arrow 407

Oliver makes this symbolic promise to Darhk at the end of the episode while speaking to the media. I’m not sure if Oliver is trying to hint at Darhk that he’s the Green Arrow, or if Oliver is just intending to try and define what his relationship with Darhk will be. For someone who’s well endowed in the art of mysticism, Darhk was played a fool this episode with being so close to the Green Arrow and Oliver in such a short amount of time.

Arrow 407

In the end, Team Arrow went home with a victory this week in securing Andy, Diggle’s brother. I hesitate to call it a victory, though, mainly because of Andy’s reluctance to talk to Diggle. I mean, sure he admitted that every terrible thing in his file was real, but at least Diggle has his brother back, right?! In any case, I can’t see Andy sticking around to join Team Arrow, if he manages to get his act together. As a Diggle fan, I hope we get to see some sort of closure.

Damien Darhk

Darhk happened to show up quite a few times this episode. In one important instance, Darhk had a run in with Thea. He put hands on her to try some mystic juju and it quickly backfired. It’s obvious Thea is immune to Darhk’s powers, and this seemed to surprise Darhk. Darhk is no stranger to the Lazuras Pit, League of Assassins, and even knows Malcolm is the current Ra’s. It almost seems this was the first rejection Darhk has been dealt when using his powers.

Arrow 407

If Darhk didn’t know Thea had used the Pit, he does now. It’s also looking like those have used the Pit may have an immunity to some of Darhk’s mysticism. It’s unfortunate that someone may have to die before Team Arrow decides to exploit that weakness by using Thea and Sara to fight Darhk.

Lian-Yu Mysticism

We got another dose of the mystic powers Oliver encountered on Lian-Yu this week. Two weeks after we heard Constantine’s warning, Oliver once again bore witness to the camp’s leader wielding a mystic tool. This week? The Truth Stick.

Arrow 407

Wave this baby around and you’ll find out who’s lying in no time. Good thing he didn’t press Oliver on any other questions! It’s safe to say Oliver is definitely on this guy’s good side.

That’s all for this week! Unfortuantely, we won’t be getting a new episode of The Flash and Arrow until December. On the plus side, we’ll be coming back to a crossover event! Check out the promo below! As always, thanks for reading!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d8FtLw4MGQ

Note: Catch our recaps of last week’s episodes of The Flash and Arrow!

Let me take this time to remind you that we are only seven episodes into second season of this show, yet, we’ve already seen live-action iterations of King Shark, the return of Grodd, and an introduction to a second Earth. It’s hard to believe we have much more in store. For now, let’s go over this week’s episode!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Barry had his first bout with having to lie to Patty. What’s worse is Patty catches him in the lie. While she didn’t exactly put her foot down, she did question Barry as to why he lied to her.

Flash 207

Barry got off this time, but I’m thinking we’ll see some more situations in which Barry has to lie in the future. This might also culminate into Barry revealing himself as the Flash, which could or could not be a bad thing depending on the situation. In an effort to keep Patty safe, we may also see Barry try to distance himself from Patty altogether.

Flash 207

Henry Allen returned this week to talk some sense into his son. Henry says he was out camping this whole time and becoming one with nature. Who can blame him? By the end of the episode, Henry once again leaves presumably by plane or train. It is unknown where he’s going this time, but I’m sure he won’t be far should Barry need him again. The theory on whether or not Henry is Zoom didn’t really advance this week. It really just comes down to whether or not you believe Henry when he said he was out fishing. I personally can’t see this Henry being Zoom, but his Earth 2 doppelganger remains a suspect.

Grodd and Gorilla City

Grodd mad his return tonight and promptly exited Earth 1 with the help of Harry and the rest of Team Flash. Some of the interesting tidbits we learned tonight involved some more information on who and what exists in Earth 2. We already know Atlantis and Aquaman exist in Earth 2, and this week, we learned there is only one Grodd. In the best interest of sending Grodd somewhere were he could be happy, Harry decides to send him through a breach that would place Grodd in Earth 2, just outside of Gorilla City.

Flash 207

As fans of comics know, Grodd will find his place in Gorilla City and will not hesitate in advancing the city’s technology and intelligence. In short, Grodd intends to control every gorilla in that city with the goal of taking over the world.

Anyone else feeling sorry for Jay Garrick right about now? I mean, he’s gotta go home at some point.

It’s also not out of the realm of possibility to think that Grodd will also find a way back to Earth 1, closed breaches or not.

Time Vault

Finally, a reference to the Time Vault. I was starting to think that we’d never hear of or see this room again. For those of you that forgot, the Time Vault was Thawne’s secret STAR Labs room where he stored the Reverse-Flash suit and Gideon.

Flash 207

Cisco was able to retrieve an extra Reverse-Flash suit for Harry to wear in the attempt to trick Grodd into believing Thawne was still alive and still in charge.

Costume Ring

This has been alluded to one way or another since we first saw it in action last season. This week, Harry admitted to knowing a thing or two about microtechnology and offered to help with the ring’s construction.

Flash 207

I hope we’ll see it when the show comes back from the midseason break!

Hawkgirl

We had our first sighting Hawkgirl in-costume this week, and Cisco appears to be 100% okay with dating a potential meta-human and her costume. It’s unknown how Kendra will get her powers, only that it will be really soon. Cisco was able to Vibe off Kendra and see what’s in her future.

Flash 207

Our Legends of Tomorrow are finally coming together just in time for the crossover event with Arrow. Speaking of which, take a look at what’s next!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Acwr3f7RD4

The Flash returns December 1st! Thanks for reading!

Note: Catch recaps of this week’s episode of The Flash and last week’s Arrow!

The Flash set the bar high this week as far as the events that are going down in the Arrow-verse. While there weren’t any huge reveals, fans of Arrow were treated to a strong episode filled with character development and plot advancement. So let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

The relationship between Felicity and Oliver took center stage this week. It’s great that they’re working out their problems this early in the season, and having it juxtaposed with recusing Ray Palmer was great. Just as Flash did in his show, the Green Arrow also went toe-to-toe with his big baddie for this season, albeit a brief toe-to-toe meeting. Overall, the rescue was a success and Ray Palmer is back in the fold, quirkiness intact. He’s gonna need it if he’s going to be teaming up with a deeply confused Sara Lance later on in Legends of Tomorrow.

Arrow 406

In Oliver’s flashback, the militia leader had Oliver take him to the site Constantine visited last week. Just as Constantine warned, the people Oliver is infiltrating isn’t there just to manufacture and move drugs. With mysticism now in play, it’s anyones guess as to what they’re actually after. However, the leader promoted Oliver to lead a group of workers to find a “gift.” My guess is that this gift is somehow related to Damien Darhk’s fold-out box. Maybe it’s a weapon, or maybe it’s a spell. One thing I think we can count out is the gift having any relation to the Lazarus Pit.

Kord Industries

It’s okay if you’ve never heard of Kord Industries before, but after tonight, you’re going to want to know everything you can. Kord Industries exists in the comics in one form or another. Some notable members include Bruce Wayne, Jason Todd, oh, and Ted Kord.

Arrow 406

Ted Kord is a genius and son of Thomas Kord, who previously founded Kord Industries. Through his adventures, he eventually meets Dan Garret, the first Blue Beetle.

Arrow 406

After Garret’s sudden death, the Blue Beetle mantle is left to Ted. The powers of Blue Beetle lie within an ancient scarab that originated in within a civilization called The Reach. The scarabs are a manifestation of a greater hive-mind with the intention of taking over planets. Eventually, Ted was able to decode the scarab and use it to his advantage. This, combined with Ted’s extensive knowledge in nanotech and gadgetry, the Blue Beetle is a powerful alley. This history behind the Blue Beetle is extensive and I recommend checking him out. At the very least, watch some episodes in the second season of Young Justice.

Another Round of, “Who’s in the Grave?!?!”

Lance once again inches closer to becoming the definite pick for who’s in the grave. After turning over a new leaf and having the reveal about how Oliver views Lance, it’s starting to look like he’s going to be the big casualty in this war with Darhk. This week, Lance got a little close with Felicity’s mother at the end of the episode. However, in doing this, I think a new contender was just added.

Arrow 406

Darhk knows Felicity’s name, thanks to Palmer’s messages. If Darhk did some more research, he could eventually find out that the Green Arrow is indeed Oliver Queen. This week, Darhk alluded to his curiosity about who is under the hood. If he found out who Oliver is, it’s easy to think Darhk would go after someone who absolutely could not defend themselves: Donna Smoak. If things between Donna and Lance heat up, I think we can expect her to be around more this season. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Darhk’s Box

A few weeks ago, I guessed that the box in Darhk’s possession was some Lazarus Pit water. Yes, I was wrong, but this week we got to see what’s inside.

Arrow 406

Darhk opened the box alluded to it needing some kind of power source. The designs almost look like blueprints, which means after Darhk gets the power source he needs, he’ll have a pretty dangerous weapon.

As we wrap up, I just wanted point out what’s going to happen in next week’s episode:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YyXQwAND_Q

Last week, I pitched an idea that Andrew Diggle was alive and was still doing bad things. This looks like to be the case, proving that even farfetched ideas aren’t all that strange when it comes to Arrow and The Flash. Isn’t that why we love these shows?

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!

Note: Catch our recaps of last week’s episodes of The Flash and Arrow!

Greg Berlanti wasn’t kidding. We got our first, extensive look at Zoom this week and I’m not sure I want see more. We also got some hints at Jesse Quick and the Speed Formula, as well as some similarities to the Flashpoint Paradox. Let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

I knew it would be hard to top the fight between Team Flash and the Reverse Flash we saw towards the end of last season, but Flash vs. Zoom might have done it. Once again, the people behind The Flash have delivered on another solid episode that leaves us wondering what’s going to come next.

The Flash 206

Along with losing the first round, Team Flash also lost Dr. Light. She’s probably out of town by now, but it’s almost certain we’ll be seeing her again at some point.

Cisco was able to vibe on Earth 2 “Harry” and learned of Jesse’s capture. Harry’s is way more transparent now with Team Flash than he was in the last two episodes. The only thing he seems to be hiding is his involvement with creating Zoom/Metas in Earth 2. The degree of is involvement should come to light this season.

The Flash 206

Closing with an incredible fight, and a heavy show of force by Zoom, us fans are left wondering what’s going to come next. By Zoom’s actions, it’s already certain that this season is much darker than the last. However, the most intriguing question remains: Who is Zoom?

Zoom

If you’ve been keeping up with these recaps, you’ve seen me throw my weight behind the theory that Zoom is Earth 2 Barry. However, the list of suspects grows this week with yet another contender: Henry Allen.

Flash 2x1 Henry

The biggest reason why I believe Zoom is Earth 2 Barry is because the show has alreaday played around with trust issues. Zoom as Earth 2 Barry will allow showrunners to play around with the idea that Barry can’t trust himself. Keeping this trust issue at the forefront, the same, perhaps more effective impact on trust would be showcased if Zoom were actually Earth 2 Henry Allen. Barry already dealt with having his idol as a mortal enemy, but could he fight a version of his dad?

The Flash 206

Aside from that, the only other similarity Henry has to Zoom can be found in these series of panels in which Henry uses blue claws to syphon power from whoever he pokes:

The Flash 206

In STAR Labs, Zoom does puncture Barry’s abdomen right before leaving.

Jesse Quick

In a flashback from Earth 2, Harry is seen talking to his daughter, Jesse. Through dialogue, we get another hint at what may lie in her future. As I mentioned last week, Jesse Quick gets her speedster powers through a formula her father creates. In this instance, it’s Harry.

The Flash 206

We know Harry is knowledgable in the speedforce because he is able to invent these sort of tranquilizers that negate speedforce powers.

The Flash 205

Though they don’t entirely work, it’s obvious Zoom felt at least some if its effects. If I had to guess, I would say Harry is on the brink of discovering how to give himself speedster-like abilities. I mean, who doesn’t want to see him fight along side Flash?!

Flashpoint Paradox

Comic readers and DC animated movie-lovers may already be familiar with the Flashpoint plot. In short, Barry visits Earth 2 and is forced to realign the universe after falling into a trap set up by Professor Zoom. In Earth 2, one of the major reveals is that Batman is not Bruce Wayne, but rather his father, Thomas Wayne.

The Flash 205

This should seem similar to you in that in The Flash‘s Earth 2 universe, Arrow is actually Robert Queen. It’s possible there is no Oliver Queen in Earth 2 and that everything that happened after the boat crash happened to Robert Queen instead. It’s also important to note that Robert Queen called himself The Hood and was revealed to be a vigilante in Earth 2 right around the time Zoom kidnaps Jesse. I sincerely hope we see a Robert Queen Arrow helping out at some point.

That’s all for this week! Be sure to check back here for a recap on this week’s Arrow. As always, thanks for reading!

Note: Catch our recap of this week’s Flash episode and last week’s episode of Arrow!

For Arrow fans new and old, the folks behind the show delivered what I thought was one of the best episodes of the series to date. This episode was a treat for many reasons. The most prominent reason? John Constantine. So let’s get to it!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

I believe the biggest reason why this episode was so great was the elimination of any love-interest and/or Felicity drama. Not a single tear was shed this week! Aside from that, this episode delivered on multiple fronts, which included a guest appearance of Matt Ryan’s Constantine.

Arrow 405

Just as many suspected, Constantine had his hand in restoring Sara Lance to her former self. His relationship with Oliver was also added to Oliver’s past on Lian Yu. As convenient as that sounds, I think any Arrow fan has accepted that Oliver has just about seen everything in his past before becoming a vigilante – so becoming acquainted with the mystic arts isn’t that big a stretch.

Arrow 405

Turns out, Constantine visited Lian Yu in search for a Grimoire, or a book of spells. (Don’t bother googling the word. You’ll just run into a story belonging to video game that’s not actually featured in said video game.) After he abducts Oliver, the two embark in search for the artifact on the island, which leads Constantine summing a hatch in which they find Desmond a mystic realm.

In the end, Constantine informs Oliver that the organization on the island isn’t all about drugs and promptly transfers a tattoo to Oliver that we’ll be seeing at some point later this season. The tattoo presumably offers protection against the dark arts, which is pretty cool.

Arrow 405

In present day, Constantine tells Oliver he’s been on edge ever since arriving in Star City. Oliver tells Constantine that Damien Darhk is in the city, which scares Constantine enough to tell Oliver to just leave the city altogether. It’s a shame Constantine won’t be sticking around, but before Constantine’s departure, Oliver gave the same promise he gave the Flash: The ol’ “anytime, anywhere.” Let’s hope that’s sometime soon.

The Darhk Files and Andrew Diggle Connection

The subplot for this episode had Diggle finally finding out why HIVE had his brother killed. This reveal came as Diggle was sent to help Captain Lance do Darhk’s dirty work in hacking into a federal network. The objective was to erase files Darhk deemed necessary. One of the files happened to belong to Andrew Diggle. The files were erased, but now Team Arrow has some information as to who’s files were erased. On top of that, Lance was able to get a physical copy of Andrew Diggle’s file, which had some not so great stuff in it. Andrew Diggle was somewhat of a criminal in the middle east during the war and HIVE saw him as an obstacle when it came to arms dealing.

Arrow 405

It’s a little strange that Darhk had the files of a dead man, and other possible deceased persons erased. It could be that Darhk just sent Lance to do some dirty work that really meant nothing to the overall objective of taking over Star City while simultaneously testing Lance’s loyalty. Another possibility, which is a little more farfetched, is that those erased files are those of current HIVE agents. If that’s true, it would mean Andrew Diggle is alive, and is continuing to do bad things.

Ray Palmer

Well, Ray Palmer continues to be in trouble. Felicity and Mr. Terrific were able to decipher Palmer’s message and learned that he’s still alive.

Arrow 405

Without getting too much into it, Team Arrow might have their hands full when trying to get Ray Palmer back into Team Arrow. Check the promo out below, if you’re into that sort of thing.

That’s it for this week! Thanks for reading!

Catch our recaps of last week’s episodes of The Flash and Arrow!

Another week, another jammed-packed episode of The Flash. We got some new character reveals, another JLA easter egg, and the return of Harrison Wells, of Earth 2 that is!

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

After missing one last week, we got another Earth 2 meta human in the form of Dr. Light. Dr. Light, as we know now, is actually Linda Park’s doppleganger. This was the first display of Zoom pitting Flash against someone he knows from his own universe. I believe the bigger question is whether or not Zoom did this intentionally.

The Flash 405

If Zoom purposely chose Dr. Light knowing Park was involved with Barry at one point, then it’s beginning to look as if Zoom and Barry share a deeper connection. As I mentioned in the past weeks, the growing theory is that Zoom is actually Barry from Earth 2. This notion is further supported by the fact that Zoom was created by Earth 2 Harrison Wells.

Flash 405

On a last note for Zoom, it would appear as though Zoom has a thing for killing dopplegangers. First, Atom Smasher and now Dr. Light. Zoom is also intent on killing Earth Prime’s Flash. Lucky for us, each week brings us closer to finding out Zoom’s identity.

Harrison Wells

Wells is back in the fold on Earth Prime, albeit not well-liked among the rest of Team Flash. Still, seeing him coach Barry through the Dr. Light fight is what all of us really wanted this week.

The Flash 405

The episode opens 8 months ago in Earth 2. Here, Wells is speaking to citizens of Central City as he is announcing a new watch that can detect meta humans. The timeframe of the particle accelerator explosion fits the timeframes of both Earths. The announcement is then interrupted by Jay Garrick, who promptly accuses Wells of creating meta humans and creating Zoom.

Aside from those obvious reveals, Wells also mentioned meta humans having the ability to “sore above buildings.” So far, we haven’t seen any meta’s that have actually taken flight, although it’s quite possible we’ll see one in a later episode.

The Quick Family

Flash 405

This week, we also got a new character reveal in Jesse Quick. Jesse Quick does become part of the Flash family in the comics, but it doesn’t look like she’s a speedster…yet. We do know that she is Harrison Wells’ daughter from Earth 2 and she is now being held captive by Zoom. Just from the short amount of time we saw her at the end of the episode, we learned that Zoom can indeed travel between Earths with ease and that Jesse Quick has a relationship with her father. This complicates things.

Flash 405

Wells being Jesse’s father would mean that Earth 2 Wells could be on the verge of becoming a speedster himself. In the comics, Jonathan Chambers, who goes by the alias Johnny Quick, is inspired by Earth 2 Jay Garrick and develops a formula that allows him to draw power from the speedforce. Chambers did all of this was after he returned home from fighting in World War II. If we remember back a few episodes, Jay Garrick does mention that his father fought in “The War of the Americas.”

Flash 405

Eventually Johnny Quick falls in love with Liberty Belle, another vigilante, and fathers a child by the name of Jesse Chambers. If I had to wager, I’d guess we will be seeing Wells develop the speedforce formula, 3×2(9yz)4a, for himself and his daughter. Let me remind you that all of this is speculation on Johnny and Jesse Quick of Earth 2There is a different Johnny Quick from Earth 3.

Flash 405

Johnny Quick of Earth 3 is a criminal and is also one of the founding members of the Crime Syndicate of America. Quick gets his power from a helmet he finds that gives him greatly enhanced speed. In the comics, the syndicate is eventually defeated and imprisoned by Earth 1 Green Lantern. Not much else is known on this Johnny Quick’s background. It’s unlikely this is the version of Johnny Quick we’ll get, if we get one.

Vibe

Finally! Cisco has assumed his role as Vibe and now all we need is a costume. However, there are some setbacks. It’s obvious Cisco has no control over his powers and it would appear as though the powers are triggered during times of emotional stress or hardship.

Flash 405

We saw a demonstration of this when Wells pushed Dr. Light’s helmet into Cisco’s chest just like Reverse Flash did before Barry reset the timeline.

Flash 405

By the end of the season, I assume Cisco will have a better handle on his powers.

Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl)

We have a Hawkgirl sighting! Not since The Flash‘s season finale have we seen Hawkgirl. This week, we got a formal introduction and a future love interest for Cisco.

The Flash 405

In the comics, Saunders is the current Hawkgirl from Earth 2. Before becoming Hawkgirl, Saunders was a treasure hunter. It’s important to note that this version of Hawkgirl uses firearms and archery as opposed to a malice. I’m sure Oliver won’t mind a crossbow here and there.

Atlantis Earth 2

Finally, the least hidden Easter Egg I’ve seen in both The Flash and Arrow was revealed when Jay Garrick mentioned that he is best friends with Aquaman. On Earth 2, Atlantis is located above ground and it sounds like they’re peaceful. I doubt we’ll get to see Aquaman, but I mean, we just saw King Shark last week. You never can tell with this show.

That’s it for this week! As always, thanks for reading!
