Geekscape Recaps: ‘The Flash’ – The Reverse-Flash Returns!

Last week, we knew The Reverse-Flash would be making an appearance. Fortunately, we were treated as to how exactly that happened. But that’s all beside one of the biggest bombshells this series has been dealt yet.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

I’ll get right down to it. I have two theories as to Zoom is. The first:

Hunter Zolomon

Alright, for those who aren’t comic readers, I’ll do my best to explain. At the end of last night’s episode, Caitlin and Garrick went to a park in Central City so that Garrick to show Caitlin who his doppleganger was. Caitlin had previously searching for Garrick’s doppleganger in an attempt to draw healthy blood cells into our Garrick. A couple of weeks ago, we also found out Garrick was in fact dying. Keep that in mind.

When Caitlin met Garrick at the park, it was to show her his doppleganger. Here’s the kicker: Garrick claimed that his doppleganger didn’t share the name “Jay Garrick.” Instead, again, according to Garrick, Zolomon’s mother died in chidbirth, forcing Zolomon to bounce around between foster homes. Eventually, Zolomon would find a foster family, and thus his name was changed to Hunter Zolomon. This would end there if it wasn’t for Zolomon’s involvement with Flash in the comics.

The Flash 211

In the comics, Hunter Zolomon goes by the name Zoom. That’s right. We had a Zoom sighting last night. That’d be great and all, but I think we’ve been seeing Zoom a lot more often than we’ve thought.

The Flash 211

In the first episode of this season, we first saw Jay Garrick taking pictures of Barry at a crime scene. I found this extremely odd. In the recap, I wrote:

Snapping the pics leads me to believe Garrick isn’t alone and, for right now, puts him in an untrustworthy light. Maybe Garrick has no idea what’s going on in this current universe and is researching everything about The Flash, or maybe not. For all we know, Jay Garrick is Professor Zoom in disguise. The pictures could have been used to show Atom Smasher who The Flash was. After all, Atom Smasher did say he had been dealt a curveball when Barry appeared at his hideout, claiming, “I thought I was going to have to come looking for you.”

While I’ve been swaying between various suspects, it seems to be all tying back to this first theory. I do indeed believe Hunter Zolomon is Zoom, I just happen to believe Zolomon’s been on Team Flash this whole time. Whenever Garrick and Zoom are on the field at the same time, it’s possible Team Flash is reacting to a Speed Mirage. Speed Mirage’s were first shown in use by last season’s Eobard Thawne. Of course, Zoom’s mirage is a lot more advanced. Let’s also not forget we’ve only been told by Garrick that he tangled with Zoom. No one has actually witnessed it.

Finally, as a last piece of evidence, our Garrick says he’s sick, and the only way to fix himself is to get his speed back. Zoom is after Barry’s speed. It’s possible Zoom is dying and needs to draw on Speed Force to stay alive. Keep your eyes opened. I know for me, every Garrick scene from here on out will be watched very closely.

The Reverse-Flash

After a good explanation given to Team Flash by Harry, we learned that this Thawne is in fact younger than the one that was erased from existence by Eddie. If there’s anything we should take away from this most recent meeting between Flash and The Reverse-Flash, it’s that Thawne made it clear to Barry that their fates are intertwined, and that both are destined to fight forever.

The Flash 211

The Reverse-Flash hates Barry because he can’t be him. It’s also well-documented that Zoom’s costume closely resembles The Flash’s. Could it be possible that upon disintegrating and entering the vortex at the end of last season, Thawne was transformed into Zoom?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Wells

Harry hasn’t come clean about kill Turtle just yet. For now, Team Flash believes Turtle died of a brain aneurysm. Garrick believes it might have been Wells who did it and tries to pit Wells and Team Flash against each other. Going back to what I said above, should Garrick’s cover be blown, he’d want the team to distrust Wells and frame him for being a Zoom spy, or Zoom himself. Wells is slowly finding a way to beat Zoom and simultaneously digging his own grave. With any luck, he’ll be Quick soon.

Vibe’s Goggles

With the help of Harry, Cisco was able to explore his powers a bit more. It was through goggles that Cisco was able to vibe through time, and in this case, into the future. Vibe’s goggles have been a constant in the comics. It’d be nice if his costume was too.

That’s all for this week! As always, thanks for reading!
