Pokemon GO was all about being healthy, now we’re drinking Starbucks!

The last few days have been full of rumors and insider leaks, but the truth come out this morning. Everyones favorite gentrification brand Starbucks is joining forces with Pokemon GO to offer players a brand new drink.

If you frequent the PokemonGO subreddit, then you will be familiar with the recent leaks and rumors spreading around. A few days ago someone leaked internal Starbucks information about the upcoming PokemonGO promotion. Check out the docs below:

Drink appears to just be a cotton candy Frappuccino with berries added.

Everything looked very official, but there was still some skepticism involved, but it looks like it all was true!

The promotion begins today at 11 AM PST. 7,800 Starbucks stores nationwide (USA USA USA!) will be transformed into Pokestops emblazoned with the new calorific drink as the image.

No other in-game bonuses will be available, other than new Pokestops. Players are prompted to go into the store and order the drink.

Niantic has not put a lifespan on this promotion, so we don’t know when it will end. If this proves to be a popular event, we can expect to see them teaming up with other brands in the future.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Briefly: Now that months have gone by, and controversy has (mostly) passed, Pokémon GO players have forgotten about the beloved, server crashing 3-step tracker, nearly forgiven Niantic for the dreaded, miscommunicated, poorly handled 3-step bug, and are just back to good old catchin’ ‘Mons in their spare time.

The craze certainly hasn’t died down (at least in Vancouver) as most individuals that pass me by still tend to be swiping up instead of left or right, and I’m still seeing nearly every gym change ownership about every four seconds. I’m still loving the game, so this is obviously some great news.

In even better news, Niantic is starting to figure out this whole communication thing, and today announced the first major feature update for Pokémon GO, which will allow trainers to have their favourite Pokémon appear next to them on the avatar screen, along with a few other neat changes.

Here’s what’s in store, straight from Niantic: “You will be able to pick your favorite Pokémon from your collection to become your buddy, opening up unique in-game rewards and experiences. Buddy Pokémon will appear alongside your Trainer avatar on your profile screen, adding helpful bonuses such as awarding Candy for walking together. You’ll also have the ability to change your Buddy Pokémon at any time.”

Gaining specific candy for walking with your Pokémon is a fantastic idea. I can’t wait to finally evolve some of the Pokémon that I caught in California this Summer and have never seen since.

Now… when the hell are we going to start seeing those legendary birds?

Briefly: Back in September of last year, Nintendo and Ingress developer Niantic announced an incredible-looking mobile title called Pokémon GO, and essentially the entire world flipped out at the endless possibilities that the game could bring to the cellular world.

At its reveal, Pokémon GO was marked for an early 2016 release. Early 2016 is disappearing, we haven’t heard anything from Niantic or Nintendo about the project, and now Niantic has cancelled the scheduled March 14th Pokémon GO GDC presentation.

The news has been spreading like wildfire, and has many fans around the world worried about the status of Pokémon GO. Niantic later gave a statement to Gamespot, noting that:

“We have decided to forego our GDC talk on Pokemon Go in order to focus on getting the product ready for beta test and launch. As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be.”

We’re all beyond excited for the game, and we hope that Niantic takes all the time it needs to make Pokémon GO and incredible experience. At the same time, we’re a little worried that we’ve seen and heard nothing about the project since its announcement trailer all those months ago.

What do you think is going on with Pokémon GO? Are you looking forward to the title? Sound out below!

HOLY FREAKING CRAP! HOLY! FREAKING! CRAP! HOLYFREAKINGCRAP! Pokemon GO looks fucking awesome!

What do you get when Nintendo, Niantic and The Pokemon Company join forces? You get something AMAZING!

Pokemon GO is a chocolate peanut butter situation if I have EVER seen one. The team that brought the world Ingress have finally moved onto a new project, and they’re teaming up with a beloved franchise. As the above trailer depicts, Pokemon GO is going to have players getting up and off the couch and out into the world to catch some ‘Mon!

Travel between the real world and the virtual world of Pokémon with Pokémon GO for iPhone and Android devices! With Pokémon GO, you’ll discover Pokémon in a whole new world—your own! Pokémon GO will use real location information to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokémon.

The Pokémon video game series has used real-world locations such as the Hokkaido and Kanto regions of Japan, New York, and Paris as inspiration for the fantasy settings in which its games take place. Now the real world will be the setting!

The Pokémon video game series has always valued open and social experiences, such as connecting with other players to enjoy trading and battling Pokémon.Pokémon GO’s gameplay experience goes beyond what appears on screen, as players explore their neighborhoods, communities, and the world they live in to discover Pokémon alongside friends and other players.

What is extra exciting is the addition of a wearable. The Pokemon Go Plus is a small device that players can wear, that connects via bluetooth to their phone to give them updates about live events or other trainers nearby!

Pokemon GO Plus wearable will surely attract attention!

As a diehard Ingress fan, and a diehard Pokemon fan I can’t be more excited! The thrill of running around city streets at night, with a bunch of my fellow Ingress players is one that I love, toss Pokemon into that scenario and you got yourselves something to look forward too!

Pokemon GO will hit Google Play and the App-Store early 2016. It will be FREE but have in app purchases.
