Before anything, watch first.

Okay, now that you’ve seen it once or twice, may three or four times, what did you think? Does it look like a normal Marvel movie? It has the action, it has the characters – it’s going to be interesting. With little story detail attached, we can gain this – a girl, who is a mutant, will become what Logan is to Professor X. In a way, it looks like this movie will be passing the torch onto a new set of mutants, which is going to be awesome.

‘Logan’ is set to hit theaters March 3rd, 2017.

Sound off below on what you guys think.

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but first impressions are often entirely wrong.” – Lemony Snicket, The Bad Beginning.

Those who know about Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events‘ may be familiar with the tales of Count Olaf and the Baudelaire children. You know that there are 13 novels which begins with Violet, Klaus and Sunny,  being placed into Olaf’s custody. The diabolical dealings of Olaf unfold over the 13 novels, all of them being narrated by Snicket himself.  You also might have seen the movie starring Jim Carrey as the master of disguise, Count Olaf, in 2004.

Those of you who don’t know about these events, well that’s unfortunate.

“So please, don’t make the same mistake that Netflix has, look away before this dire tale is even filmed. And avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”

Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ is slated to appear on Netflix on Friday, January 13th, 2017. As put by the ‘Unfortunte’ Twitter: ‘The world is vast and full of wonders… so you could always find something else to watch.’

“So please, don’t make the same mistake that Netflix has, look away before this dire tale is even filmed. And avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”

In a very well crafted summer of promotions, FX premiered its sixth season of its Emmy Award Winning series, ‘American Horror Story’. While its theme is generally announced before the premiere, FX kept it a secret from their fans. How they maintained the secret? By having CEO John Landgraf send out the marketing team, who, “went out and created many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story, in different genres, different places. One of them is accurate, and the others are all misdirects,… We think it will be fun for the audience to have the surprise this year.”

Now, what you read below, can be considered spoilers, so if don’t want to be spoiled because you haven’t seen the episode, go watch the episode. If you’ve seen the episode, or don’t mind being spoiled, happy reading!Roanoke Nightmare

Roanoke, is not a stranger to the American Horror Story anthology. In fact, for the die hard AHS fans, they might remember it being talked about in season 1. In Murder House, Billie Dean Howard, the resident psychic, played by Sarah Paulson, talked about the 117 people who died and then haunted the Natives in the state of North Carolina. The dead, who had their things burned by the Elder, returned, having been summoned by their talismans. In order for the dead to be permanently banished, all one had to do was utter ‘Croatoan’ which was also found carved into a post at the abandoned colony.

For our story, in season 6, it follows that of Shelby and Matt, portrayed by Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Andre Holland, and Cuba Gooding Jr.. The story of the ‘Roanoke Nightmare’ which is the title for this true crime docu-series, is told by Lily Rabe and AHSR 1Andre Holland, their portrayers played by Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. Also added into the mix, playing Matt’s sister is Adina Porter and Angela Bassett.

After being jumped by a gang and having a miscarriage, Matt and Shelby move out East to North Carolina. They come across this house, which is up for auction. Spending a good part of their life savings and beating out creepy and angry looking neighbors, Matt and Shelby buy the house. Keeping up with the creep factor, human teeth rain down, Shelby nearly drowns by unknown assailants, a pig is dropped off on their front doorstep, Matt’s sister (Bassett) and Shelby are locked in the basement with a home movie playing. The house was broken into, string dolls hung from various points in the entry way, and that’s still not enough to convince Matt to leave, much to Shelby’s dismay.

Shelby’s run into trouble doesn’t end there. After hitting a woman who looks a lot like Kathy Bates (it’s Kathy Bates), Shelby chases her into the woods. Having gotten lost, Shelby finds herself in a web of more of those string dolls that was the last straw and made her leave her home in the first place. She runs back through the woods, away from the string dolls, trips and falls. Out of the woods come its inhabitants, possibly a few of the 117 that haunt the natives.

It’s been said that all seasons are connected. With a connection already to Murder House, what else are you hoping to be referenced or connected? Sound off below in the comments and take a look at what’s ahead for ‘American Horror Story: Roanoake’

NBC is adding another musical to their repertoire this December. Hairspray Live! will be producer’s Neil Meron and Craig Zadan’s fourth musical with the network.

Hairspray, originally a film in 1988, is about a young woman named Tracy, whose dream it is to dance on the Corny Collin’s show. Hairspray went onto Broadway, where it premiered in 2002, winning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Score. Marisa Jaret Winokur, Matthew Morrison, and Harvey Fierstein, headlined the company. It was in 2007, that Hairspray was made into a film, again, but with music from the musical. It starred John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, and as Tracy Nicky Blonsky.

It was announced earlier this year, that the new musical that NBC would be producing was Hairspray Live!, yet at the time no cast had been attached. Since its original announcement, the network has been announcing its  star studded lineup of actors. Starring as Tracy Turnblad is Maddie Baillio, as Tracy’s mother Edna is Harvey Fierstein who is reprising his role, as Velma Von Tussle is Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth, as Tracy’s best friend Penny is Ariana Grande, and as Mama Morton is Jennifer Hudson. The rest of the cast is Martin Short, Garret Clayton, Derek Hough, Andrea Martin, Rosie O’Donnell and Sean Hayes.

Robert Greenblat, NBC chairman, announced that this production will be doing things the previous ones have not attempted. Alex Rudzinski and Kenny Leon are co-directing the piece. Alex Rudzkinski is currently nominated for an Emmy for his direction of Grease Live! and Kenny Leon was nominated for his work on The Wiz Live!. Unlike the previous productions NBC has produced, this one will be shot on the backlot of Universal Studios in Hollywood and will feature a live audience as people from Baltimore and audience members of the ‘Corny Collins Show’

Hairspray Live! will premiere on December 7th 2016. Take a look below at NBC’s first promo with it’s all star cast.

“Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?” A question posed in the musical Hamilton, the story of the man on the ten dollar bill.

“‘Hamilton’ consistently finds muted, blurring shades – of feeling, of morality, of character – within its incident and fact packed story without ever sacrificing narrative clarity” says the New York Times. Adapted from the book penned by Ron Chenow’s autobiography on Alexander Hamilton, the first five minutes of the musical covers the first hundred pages. In it’s fast, hip-hop style, the title song Alexander Hamilton settles you into the world of the man himself. hamiltonbway0109r2-phillipa-soo-ren-e-elise-goldsberry-and-jasmine-cephas-jones-d23a8b0bc760d91027213a96953d4e78d22a3927-s900-c85

Taking Hamilton out of the Carribean, where the man was born, and bringing him to America, Lin Manuel shows how an immigrant strives on the shores of America. Specifically New York. Even more so, ‘the greatest city in the world’ Manhattan. It was in Manhattan that he met the Schulyer Sisters, who are played by Renee Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, and Jasmine Cephas in the show. It was in Manhattan that he met Elizabeth Schuyler (Soo) the woman who became his wife, the woman who was taken out of the narrative and put herself back into it in order to tell her husband’s story.

Hamilton grows up to be an American War Hero,  George Washington’s right hand, and joined the ranks of Thomas Jefferson (Daveed Diggs)  and James Madison (Okieriete Onaodowan) in the founding of America. As an author of the U.S. Constitution, the document that states ‘We the People, Hamilton strived to establish justice among the people, insuring calmness among his friends and calmness when in time of war, and attempted to 07HAMILTON-slide-UX39-jumbo-v2promote happiness. In the end, against all odds, Hamilton meets his fate at the hand of Aaron Burr (Leslie Odom Jr.) who did not waste his shot.

Playing to sold out crowds night after night and will continue to do so every night for at least the next nine months, Hamilton has been collecting accolades one after another. No stranger to awards, Lin-Manuel won 4 Tonys and a Grammy for his show ‘In The Heights’. In addition to those awards, Miranda was named a ‘Genius’ receiving a grant by the MacArthur Foundation, a Grammy for Hamilton, and now a Pulitzer Prize.

Miranda joins the ranks of George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Bock and Harnick, Frank Loesser, Marvin Hamlisch, Stephen Sondheim , Jonathan Larson, and Brian Yorkey and the other partners these men collaborated with. Seeing as Miranda was the composer, lyricist and book writer, he was the sole winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Take a look below at the cast’s opening night perspective. You can get tickets for Hamilton when it comes to LA through the Pantages and try your hand at the Hamilton lottery in New York.

It’s a new season of Selina Meyers and her merry band of White House staffers. And Jonah.

After last season’s question of ‘Who won the election?’ the answer is: No One. “It’s a tied election.” As President Meyers so eloquently points out in the season’s trailer.

The new season will introduce a new mission for Selina. It has to be something her opponent wouldn’t do, like driving sober, or using the facilities without getting a hernia. The president has to look presidential, and usually that means knowing what medal an olympic team has won and not rubbing it in that they didn’t win first place, but third. She covers it up, or you know, not, in the Selina Meyer fashion.

Jonah is back. He’s like Herpes. Or a mrsa infection. Regardless of what disease Jonah equates himself to, no one is getting rid of Jonah Ryan. Selina is dating? Sleeping with John Slattery, yet she’s not going to be ‘that’ kind of President.

Points on the President’s schedule she’s going to have to deal with on this season of Veep? Chinese hackers. A massive drop in the stock market which leads them to potentially being Greece…”The country not the musical.” Last but not least, the bank bailouts, which according to the President is like having a man decide what part of his male anatomy he wants gone first. And according to Ben Cafferty, played by Kevin Dunn, he “could lose them both. I mean at this stage, they’re just purely decorative.”

Take a look the trailer for the new season. Season 5 premieres on April 24, 10:30pm, on HBO.

In a newly released trailer, the sixth season of Game of Thrones, the audience is warned that “…the great game is terrifying.”

In the first few seconds of the trailer, with the guitar strings playing the beginning chords of ‘Wicked City’ the answer to the question that has plagued fans for nearly a year now is answered. “He’s gone.” is said of Jon Snow who lays in a bed of snow. So is Jon Snow dead? From the trailer, the answer is ‘Yes.’

Has Cersai Lanister, after taking the walk of shame, lived up to her repentance? If the declaration of “I choose violence” was anything to go by, I’m going to go with no. But that also comes after her brother/lover tells her that what was taken away from them was going to be taken back and more.

Other storylines that appeared for brief flashes revolve around a blind Arya Stark, a powerless Daenerys, and a somber Melisandre. We also see Bran with what looks like a white walker and Brienne of Tarth.

The fight for the throne continues on HBO on April 24. Take a look and let us know what you think.

In 1977, Disney released a movie about an orphaned boy named Pete who befriend’s a Dragon named Elliot. Elliot is 20 feet tall, can make himself invisible, and could spew red flames. Not to worry though, as Elliot can be tamed with a simple belly rub.

In 1977, Elliot was animated, Pete was not. It was one of Disney’s oldies but goodies.

https://youtu.be/OlUkOid3TYc

Now, in 2016, with a mixture of CGI and live action, Disney brings the classic tale back to the big screen with a twist. In a re-telling of the tale, Pete is still an orphan, Elliot is still a Dragon and they are still friends. Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Grace, a park ranger who finds Pete and in turn Elliot. She protects Elliot from the town’s over eager citizens and becomes Pete’s maternal figure. Robert Redford stars as Grace’s father, the town’s story teller who does not believe his tale about the big green dragon that lives in the woods.

The film is set to premiere on August 12th. For more you can go to Disney’s official website!

During the Super Bowl’s second quarter, CBS released their verdict on their popular TV drama The Good Wife; this season will be its last. The next 9 episodes are the final ones to air.

It was reported earlier in the season that the showrunners, Robert and Michelle King, the husband and wife duo who started the show were stepping down. Julianna Margulies , The Good Wife herself commented that she was going to be out of a job come April.

The Good Wife has had its twists and turns, as the promo reminded. A twist that still resonates with fans is when Josh Charles’ character Will Gardner was shot and killed, taking the audience by complete surprise. The actor had been in negotiations to leave for sometime, wishing to leave in order to tend to his family, and the lack of talk around the industry had fellow actors taken by complete surprise.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” commented Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment and , President, CBS Television Studios, David Stapf. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game. It has been CBS’s sincere privilege to broadcast and produce The Good Wife for seven extraordinary seasons. We thank and applaud the outstanding cast, led by the impeccable Julianna Margulies, and the consummate writing and producing team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, who brought to life a smart, sophisticated series that has delivered audiences so many memorable characters and unforgettable moments. It is a series that will only grow in prestige as its episodes are watched again or discovered by new viewers for many years to come.”

The show stars Julianna Margulies, Chris Noth,  Christine Baranski, Alan Cummings, Matt Cuzchry. The show airs on Sunday nights on CBS at 10pm.

Not Guilty. The 9 month trial of The People vs. Orenthal James Simpson had come to a close on Tuesday morning and O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the brutal stabbings that resulted in the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

Based on the book by Jeffrey Toobin, “The Run of His Life: The People vs. Orenthal James Simpson”, FX brings to the screen, American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson. The show is set to explore the chaotic behind the scene activities from both the prosecution and defense teams of this case. The show will explore the workings of how the defense team got what they needed to maneuver the case in their favor, providing reasonable doubt and thus winning their case.

The first part of this ten-part series opens on the night of the murders in which Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Furman were found brutally murdered. OJ Simpson apologizes to his driver outside of his home, not his ex-wife’s home, and is taken to LAX for a trip to Chicago, which is where the LAPD calls him to inform him of his wife’s death.

The defense team that will work with OJ Simpson is comprised of Robert Shapiro, played by John Travolta, who has all the right answers and very calculated in how he wants things done. Robert Kardashian, played by David Schwimmer (Ross from Friends) is a long time friend of OJ’s. Schwimmer plays Kardashian with a very nervous composure. Disbelief that his friend could do this, fuels the performance.  Courtney B. Vance, who plays Johnny Cochran, the lawyer who historically said, “If the glove does not fit, you must acquit,” is introduced, despite not being on the Defense team. Yet.

sarah-paulson-1-800On the opposing side is Marcia Clarke, played by Sarah Paulson, who was playing double duty with American Horror Story: Hotel.  Marcia Clarke was one of the people who did not know who O.J. Simpson was. To her he was “the guy in the Heinz commercials.” Not the Heisman trophy winner from USC. His celebrity-dom did not deter her from going after him with the full force of the legal system, seemingly on her side, in what should be an open and closed case. There was blood on and in the white bronco that belonged to O.J., there was blood leading up to the house, and the LAPD found a glove at the Nicole’s home and Simpson’s home with blood of both parties. She had everything she needed to arrest him.

The LAPD shows up to the location where Shapiro told Clarke they would be and they, Shapiro and Kardashian were fully prepared to cooperate with the authorities. As was O.J., if he was there.

Where could O.J. be? Speeding down the freeway, with his friend A.C, played by Malcolm Jamal Warner, weaving in and out traffic determined to get away.

To further feed the possibility that OJ was an abusive man and the plausibility that he did in fact kill his wife conversation at Nicole’s funeral between Connie Britton and Selma Blair, who portray Faye Resnick and Kris Kardashian, where the women reveal that Nicole was brutally abused by OJ Simpson and that she was afraid of him and would hide the abuse. The two women are waiting for O.J. Simpson to show up, which he does, and presses a kiss to his dead wife’s forehead.

In most instances, we the audience know more than the characters. In this case, it can be argued that yes, the audience does know more than the characters, given the fact that this takes place in the past and we have already lived it.

With the information that is presented in the first episode, regardless if we know absolutely nothing about the case or watched the news every day while the trial was happening, the writers have made us the third party. They have presented key pieces of evidence that will help us at a later date come to our own conclusion. At the beginning stages, we know very little, and it could be argued that this show, is a visual trial and we the audience are the jury. We have been presented with facts and it up to us to determine if it’s important and does it answer the question; Is OJ Simpson Guilty?

American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson airs on Tuesday nights at 10pm on FX.

It is the year 2007 and the CW announces over the summer that their beloved series, ‘Gilmore Girls’ is not returning. Fast forward to the present day, 2016 and Netflix has announced and confirmed by it’s star Lauren Graham that the fast talking duo from Stars Hollow are returning.

It was reported last October by TVLine that there was a rumor of the show’s return. In Netflix’s confirmation the facts are these. The show will return in four, 90 minute episodes. Each installment will cover a season over the calendar year. In other words there will be a Winter installment, a Spring installment, a Summer installment, and a Fall installment. The series creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, who was at the helm of the show for six out its seven season run is set to return, as well as her husband, executive producer Daniel Palladino. The show, which is being dubbed as a mini-series, is tentatively called Gilmore Girls: Seasons, will be written and directed by, what is affectionally called by fans, as Team Palladino.

Returning to the fictional city of Stars Hollow, Connecticut are the beloved Gilmore Girls themselves, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, and Kelly Bishop who played Lorelai, Rory and Emily Gilmore. Also returning, is Luke Danes, the owner of the diner that is home to the best coffee of Stars Hollow, played by Scott Patterson. Other Stars Hollow townies that are set to return? Sean Gunn who plays Kirk and Keiko Agena who plays Lane, Rory’s best friend.

While there is no date set for it’s return, other than 2016, shooting is to begin Feb. 2 in Los Angeles and will finish up in the late spring.

After the NFC Championship on Sunday, Fox finally aired the first installment of six, brand-new episodes of The X-Files. It’s been 14 long years since we’ve seen Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on our small screens.

THE X-FILES: L-R: Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully and David Duchovny as Fox Mulder. The next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). The thrilling, six-episode event series, helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY, marks the momentous return of the Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. ©2015 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Ed Araquel/FOX

The episode begins with a recap of what The X-Files is, who Mulder and Scully are, what kind of work they did, and what the X-Files were before the division of the FBI was shut down. So, if you have never seen an episode of The X-Files ever in your life, it’s a nice little recap for you so you’re not lost at sea without a life raft.

A key piece of what makes The X-Files is the theme song. We get that. Another key piece is the title sequence, which a lot of people were worried would change due to the technological advances, older actors, new cases; but never fear folks, the title sequence is exactly the same. It still holds that magical mystery and wonder in which perfectly dictates the X-Files show as a whole.

Fox released a 21 minute mini-documentary which explains what the fans can expect from the new episodes. We’ll get our dose of monster of the week, we’ll get the humor episodes, and what the X-Files have become infamous for – their mythology episodes. We also will have some familiar faces such as Annabeth Gish returning and new faces such as Community‘s Joel McHale.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgRUzEdPfHA

McHale plays Ted O’Malley, who is just as obsessed with the unexplained, if not possibly more, as Fox Mulder is. Mulder and Scully are called in to meet with this guy, by AD Skinner, who yes, is still at the FBI. O’Malley takes Mulder and Scully to the middle of quite literally nowhere, which Scully cracks – “Even Aliens can’t find this place.” There they meet a lovely woman named Sveta, played by Annet Mahendru, who, according to her Mulder met when she was a young girl, right after her first abduction.

Sveta was abducted by men, not aliens, boarded onto a ship where they scooped pieces of her stomach out. They impregnated her and then took her unborn baby from her. As she explained to Mulder, Scully, and O’Malley, she has pieces of memories, implants of other memories shielding what actually happened. Sound familiar X-Files fans? Scully listens to Sveta’s tale and as O’Malley explains it to Scully, she brushes him off, shuts him down because Dana Scully knows exactly what Sveta went through. Scully was abducted, had memories implanted for her to screen the actual going ons of what actually occurred during her abduction.

THE X-FILES: L-R: Guest star Annet Mahendru and Gillian Anderson. ©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Ed Araquel/FOX
©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Ed Araquel/FOX

It is revealed that there is a possibility that Sveta has Alien DNA. In a lab, Scully draws blood from Sveta to test to see if the woman does in fact have Alien DNA in her. Sveta points out that Mulder and Scully once were a couple. Check. They have a son together. Check. Mulder has been depressed and Scully diagnosed him with said depression. Check and Check. How does Sveta know all this? She can read minds and move things. When she tells Scully that she has no idea what they did to Sveta, Scully tries to assure her that she does in fact know. It’s not until Sveta reads Dana’s mind, that she corrects her statement. Dana Scully does know.

O’Malley takes Mulder to an un-disclosed location where in the middle of what looks like an airplane hangar is an ARV, otherwise known as an Alien Replica Vehicle. They built it and are able to fly it using free energy. Technology they’ve had since the 1940’s. Another thing that tipped off the red flag of Fox Mulder, the fact that they were able to make it disappear and he witnessed it happening. In a quick series of events, right after O’Malley announces to the world that he knows Dana Scully, Sveta is on television saying O’Malley put words in her mouth, apologizes to anyone who she may have fooled, Scully checks O’Malley’s site and it’s been shut down. The building in which the ARV is being held, gets infiltrated by Men and blown with the ARV in it and the scientists working on it, still inside.

There were a few surprises at the end. 1. Sveta gets blown up in her car, by what looks like an alien space ship. 2. Scully re-ran the DNA from Sveta, compared it to her own and they BOTH have Alien DNA. 3. The cigarette smoking man is BACK. And while, yes, he did get blown up, he was brought back and his face and hands are obviously damaged. How did he get saved? No one knows. Will Sveta be saved in the same fashion?

So with that all in mind, what did you guys think? And be sure to catch the next few episodes every Monday night on Fox.

Election season is right around the corner, will you vote Underwood 2016?

Every four years, the United States is subjected to a fight between the left and the right sides of the political spectrum. In the year 2016, fictional and non-fictional folks alike are fighting for the house on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the title of the President of the United States.

On the right side, is Francis Underwood. A man who believes that progress, forward momentum, and getting things done is the best way to go. He has no time for useless things like political gridlock and stagnation.

It was nearly a month ago now, while the Republicans debated in Las Vegas, that Underwood rolled out his own campaign video. Underwood puts people before politics. It’s why the American people are able to be at home with their families, they’re able to go to work, they’re able to have a life. All because of Frank Underwood.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se44ed4KBMA

During the Golden Globes last night, amongst the celebrations for those who won and had yet to win, the Underwood Campaign released another video. This one talked about the kind of President that America deserves. He declared that America needs a President who is not afraid to look someone in the eye. Who is able to communicate their beliefs. Underwood believes in putting people first, in putting America back on track, opening doors, and he is willing to work with both sides so everyone can get what they want. The man who is declared humble, has taken criticism, but the support in which he has received was never taken for granted. In heart of hearts, Frank Underwood believes that America deserves him as a leader.

So? What do you think? Are you ready to vote Underwood for President, 2016? Show your support on social media with #FU2016 on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

Season 4 of House of Cards rolls out on March 4th 2016 on Netflix.

Created and written by Peter Morgan, The Crown is a biographical story about the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II and her reign as the Queen of England.

Morgan was nominated back in 2006 for an Academy Award for his screenplay The Queen, starring Helen Mirren, which provided a look into the British Monarchy and their reaction to the death of Diana, the Princess of Wales.

Claire Foy stars as the Royal Princess turned Queen of England, and also starred in the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated Wolf Hall. Filling the shoes of the Queen’s husband, Phillip Mountbatten is Matt Smith, who has taken a break from traveling all of time and space in Doctor Who. Another notable name is John Lithgow who adds his talent to the cast with his portrayal of Winston Churchill.

The story of the Royal Family can easily be looked up, researched, and in recent times the lives of the Royal family can be seen in various films, such as The King’s Speech, W/E, and The Queen.

It’s evident that this picks up soon after her father George VI has died. The Monarchy was not keen on having a woman take the thrown. Her uncle, Edward VIII, had previously been King, only to have abdicated the thrown years prior in the name of love. With the winds of time changing, a woman to take on a lead role in society, a question is raised – What is the purpose of the crown? What is the purpose of the Monarchy? Her husband – who wanted to be married to his wife and not the queen, slowly became unraveled at the idea of needing to kneel before her. He ultimately decides to kneel before the Queen because that is what is expected of him. Not everyone was so conscious of the reasoning behind that.

Two rings, two marriages, two lives; The Queen of England and Elizabeth – both living under The Crown.

The Crown will premiere in 2016, consisting of 13 hour long episodes. Take a look at the first trailer below, and be sure to let us know what you think!

American Crime’s anticipated second season won’t premiere until January 6th, but you can watch if for free right now via iTunes.

American Crime is an anthology series – the title remains the same while the season’s topic changes. Last season it centered on a murder while investigating the world in which we live in and how race is seen in America. This season the topic is sexual assault – did it happen, who did it, and what happens when it’s essentially brushed under the rug?

The topic of rape is brought up in the first thirty seconds when 911 gets a dispatch call from a distraught woman who wants to report the act. Throughout the episode we get the first few pieces of the puzzle as to why the call was placed. We find out who placed the call, why she placed the call, and we as viewers can only imagine the repercussions that will follow.

From the beginning of the episode we know it’s going to be a sensitive topic. The victim is high school aged, a transfer student, a kid with little to no friends – except his girlfriend who has baggage of her own to deal with. We meet the key players – the adults who will deal with the situation – the Coach, the victim’s mother, and the Headmistress. There are three worlds, three sets of lives that in their own bring drama.

The Coach, played with Timothy Hutton, has a daughter who is a cheerleader, a wife who is a photographer, and a team of boys who are teenagers and adolescents. He is honored at a charity event for bringing his team to victor multiple times over his six-year tenure at the school and it is evident that his team idolizes him, respects him, which is why the Headmistress tasks him with the duty of talking to his boys about the allegations that arise.

Anne, the victim’s mother, is played by Lili Taylor. She’s a working, single mom who wants nothing but the best for her son Taylor. She sent him to the expensive school so he could get the best education. Her world starts to teeter when she’s brought into speak with the dean over photos that appeared on social media, leading to her son’s suspension. After begging her son to show her the photos and being denied she turns to her son’s girlfriend who gives her what she wants. The photos. She approaches her son about it and after claims of not knowing what happens to him she goes to the Headmistress at the school.

The Headmistress, Leslie Graham, played by Felicity Huffman, is very protective of her school, of her teachers, of her students. She takes down a detailed report of what happened, alleged by Taylor’s mother and has the Coach look into it. Not wanting to call it rape, Huffman’s character directs Taylor’s mother to tread carefully on how she uses the word until they know what happened. Huffman’s character all but points fingers at the boy and claims that he was coherent enough to know what happened and didn’t stop it.

Upset that her son is being blamed for what happened, Taylor’s mother goes into the lobby of the school, calls 911 and says “I want to report a rape.”
