I’m a fan of the ‘Skyline’ movies! And did you know there were 3 of them? Filmmaker Liam O’Donnell, writer and director of the last two films, is on the show to discuss ‘Skylines’, the most recent entry! We talk about producing and directing sci-fi films, how the Skyline series came about and integrating martial arts into fights with aliens! And of course we talk about the challenges of filmmaking and working with so many special effects! Liam is an awesome guy and I loved talking to him! I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did!

Time to talk with Tony Dean Smith and Ryan W. Smith, the filmmakers behind the new suspense film ‘Volition’, about building an award winning time travel film that has been compared to films like ‘Memento’, ‘Looper’ and ‘Time Crimes’ (that last one is my comparison)! What is it like working together as siblings, finally releasing a film that you first had an idea for over 20 years ago, the challenges of writing a story with so many moving pieces and more! Enjoy!

Computer! Play “Careless Whisper”… because it’s about to get sexy by the fireside up in here. Jacqueline Lopez and Jennifer Zhang recap and review the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Heroes and Demons”, where the Doc takes on the monstrous Grendel in a deadly Beowulf holodeck simulation, meets a sexy warrior lady with terrible aim, and learns that there’s more than one way to stay warm…

Star Trek: Voyager… Live and on stage for one night only!

That is, if Lt. B’elanna Torres can’t inspire a young poet to write a play so good that a war mongerer can be swayed from his… war mongering… ways. This week, Jacqueline Lopez and Jennifer Zhang are back and reviewing “Muse”, the episode where our favorite half-Klingon crash lands on a planet where she’s a hot enough ticket to fill stadiums (or rather, amphitheaters).

Rico Anderson is not only a successful working actor… he’s also one of the biggest Trekkies we’ve ever had on the show! It was pretty awesome having him in studio to school me about the Mirror Universe, forgotten Trek alien races and the various Trek timelines and where they fit in continuity! Beyond that, we talk about his roles in ‘Star Trek: Renegade’, ‘Star Trek: Horizon’ and the upcoming sci-fi film ‘Runaway’! We also discuss the coolest geek moment at the Olympics, I give a brief review or Chris Pine’s new film ‘Hell Or High Water’ and we open some new stuff from our sponsor Loot Crate! Enjoy!

Indie Sci Fi director Neil Johnson has been a friend for a few years and an avid Geekscape listener for the same amount of time! One of the first directors to make a fully digital film, and science fiction film at that, Neil and I sat down to talk about the challenge of making low budget science fiction movies and indie filmmaking. Neil also justifies the Star Wars prequels better than anyone ever has before and talks about his upcoming film ‘Starship Rising’. Things get very personal on this episode as we talk about our approaches and inspirations. This is easily one of my favorite Geekscape’s yet!

Capcom has just put out a trailer for their new game Remember Me. Announced earlier today at the GamesCom conference, a trailer has JUST hit the net. Take a look here and find out why I am so excited!!!

Jumping Jesus this looks SO GOOD! The first impression I get, is Blade Runner meets Ghost in The Shell, with a little bit of Total Recall added in. The world looks fantastic and the story is a hard sci-fi looking narrative that is right up my alley. From the press release

Capcom and Dontnod entertainment are proud to announce Remember Me, a brand new action adventure title for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Neo-Paris, 2084. Take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people’s minds and steal or even alter their memories. Arrested, and with her memory wiped clean Nilin must now set out on a mission to rediscover her identity.

This REEKS of Ghost in The Shell, come on Neo-Paris?

The game is slated to be released in May of 2013.
