Briefly: It’s been a long time coming, but a few weeks ago, we were finally treated to the first trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and today eight new stills from the film have debuted online.

I still remember being a 15 year old kid, absolutely falling in love with the first film, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released. But it’s coming, and soon!

The new images offer a pretty great look into the film, so take a look at all eight below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the full feature! Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd!

Briefly: Following last week’s trio of new images, the first teaser trailer for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally debuted online.

I still remember being a 15 year old kid, absolutely falling in love with the first film, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released. But it’s coming, and soon!

The trailer brings me right back. The film’s distinct visual style is back in full force, and I can’t wait to see the full feature. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think! Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd.

Briefly: Bearing any further delays, we’re finally set to see the sequel to 2005’s Sin City this Summer.  I still remember being a 15 year old kid, loving the first one, and being so excited when it was announced that a sequel would be put on the fast track. Now, it’s 9 years later, and it still hasn’t released.

In any case, it’s coming, and I can’t wait. Entertainment Weekly has published a few new photos from the film, including a still of Jessica Alba looking just as good as she did in the first film, Mickey Rourke’s Marv looking as badass as ever, and newcomer Joseph Gordon-Levitt looking pissed and bloody.

Take a look at the images below, and let us know if you’re still looking forward to the sequel after all these years. Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd.

Briefly: We’ve seen some stills, and even a teaser, but El Ray just launched a full trailer for March’s From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.

Clocking in at two-and-a-half minutes, the trailer gives us a decent idea of what to expect from the series, and I think that fans will be very happy with what they see here.

In any case, take a look at the trailer below, and let us know if you’ll be watching From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series when it premieres on March 11th.

Based on the thrill-ride film, the supernatural crime saga is centered around bank robber Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Don Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Jesse Garcia) after a bank heist leaves several people dead. The series, created and executive produced by network Founder and Chairman, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, will premiere on El Rey Network, Tuesday, March 11th at 9pm ET/PT.

Hollywood stars line up to be part of any Robert Rodriguez film, and let’s face it, the Machete franchise is no different. If anything, more stars want to join in on the fun of a Machete film. Machete Kills is everything it promises it will be: violent, bloody, funny, and of course star-studded.

The film starts off with a fight between Danny Trejo’s Machete and a group of military men gone bad, who are then attacked by more unknown assailants. The violence and gore one would expect in a Robert Rodriguez film is present from this moment on. Some of the more clever ways to kill a human being in other action films are easily overshadowed by the methods in this one; helicopters and boat motors have been used before, sure, but not like this.

Machete

This time, it’s the U.S. Government asking Machete for help. To be more specific, it’s the president played by Charlie Sheen (credited as Carlos Estevez) who calls in the hero. There’s a madman with a missile aimed at Washington D.C. and only Machete can stop him. So they send him to Mexico with the promise of a clean slate. All Machete has to do is take out this villain.

Once a few things go wrong and there’s a 10 million dollar price is put on Machete’s head, all kinds of hitmen and villains try to chase him down for the cash. One such monster is just known as The Chameleon, a character who has the ability to change his or her face. This really gave some of the stars a chance to take part in the film, considering some of the people who play the character include Cuba Gooding Jr., Lady Gaga and Antonio Banderas.

Another great addition was Sofia Vergara, who plays the mother of one of Machete’s cohorts who dies. The machinegun-bra-clad leader of a group of hooker-mercenaries follows him throughout the film, and has some of the funnier weapons in the movie (including one that looked a lot like the crotch gun from the film From Dusk Till Dawn).

machete-kills-las-muejeres-de

And, of course, the film includes extremely sexy women, as the Machete franchise promises. Amber Heard (one of my favorites) plays Machete’s handler as she lives the double (or triple) life of a spy and beauty pageant contestant. If she and Vergara aren’t enough, the film also sees the return of Michelle Rodriguez’s character Luz, along with the dental assistants/assassins from the first film.

Sheen is hilarious as the foul-mouthed and playboy president, and Mel Gibson switches sides for the first time ever and plays the villain of the film, a man who claims to see the future and has plans to move to a space station he has built.

Overall, the film was a fun watch if you liked the first one, and since I enjoyed the first one,  I give it 3 out of 5 stars. Machete Kills is out on Blu Ray and DVD January 21st.

Final Score: 3 out of 5

Briefly: Remember that poster that popped up last month, leading the entire internet (and even iMDB) to believe that the Robert Rodriguez’ Sin City sequel had been retitled A Dame to Die For?

DameToDieFor
Image via Bloody-Disgusting

Well, it turns out that retitling was a mistake. A new, official poster has just debuted online (and in theatres), and it thankfully shows the A Dame to Kill For moniker.

We heard that a lot of you were a little ticked off at the apparent title change. Are you happy now? Take a look at the new poster below, and let us know what you think! Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theatres on August 22nd, 2014!

DameToKillFor

Yep, it’s kinda the same poster… just with a cast this time.

Briefly: Could a Sin City television series follow the oft-delayed (and once retitled) Sin City: A Dame to Die For?

Well, the Weinsteins are working on one.

While speaking to The New York Times, Harvey Weinstein stated that “The way to add stability to the company is to be in the television business,” and that the end goal was to have a small-screen division “as powerful as the theatrical division.”

In any case, this could be great news for fans.

Weinstein elaborated that a Sin City series could quickly follow the next film, A Dame to Die For. Could this have been the reasoning behind this year’s last-minute delay of the film?

The Weinsteins are planning a myriad of other series based on existing properties (and new IPs) as well, including:

– The Mist (10-episode, with Frank Darabont involved, naturally)
– Silver Linings Playbook (don’t ask me how on this one)
– The 10 Commandments
– 10-episode detective drama titled Book of the Dead
–
a 14-episode War and Peace series

Would you be interested in a Sin City series? How about The Mist? With under a year to go until Sin City: A Dame to Die For hits theatres (August 22nd, 2014), they better get moving!

Briefly: Following yesterday’s great behind-the-scenes featurette, Open Road Films has debuted another look inside Machete Kills.

The video focusses specifically on the myriad of female characters in the film, including Amber Heard, Michele Rodriguez, Lady Gaga, Sofia Vergara, and Alexa Vega. Plenty of the cast is featured in small interviews, and the featurette really tries to sell the fact that Machete Kills isn’t simply a movie for guys.

Take a look at the featurette below, and let us know if you’ll be checking out Machete Kills this weekend!

In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.

Briefly: Robert Rodriguez’s anticipated Machete Kills is finally just a few days away from theatres, and an awesome new behind the scenes featurette for the film has just debuted online.

The video takes us inside Troublemaker Studios, and features an interview with Rodriguez himself, as well as many of the film’s cast members. The featurette certainly gives us some great insight to the film, and is a fantastic watch for fans of the series.

The trailer features some new footage, and is overlaid with Lady Gaga’s new, currently unreleased track, “Aura”, while the poster features a very, very grown up Alexa Vega (yep… this girl from Spy Kids):

Briefly: Following the red-band trailer released a few weeks back, Open Road Films has just debuted a new character poster for Machete Kills.

The newest image features Amber Heard as Miss San Antonio, and the poster makes me wonder if she used those knives in her pageant’s skills competition.

The video is filled with fantastic action (and lots of blood), hilarious one-liners, and a pretty great look at the film’s overarching plot. It’s definitely the most impressive trailer I’ve seen for the film thus far.

Open Road Films today debuted a new trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s highly anticipated, semi-delayed Machete Kills. The new preview gives us a much better look at some of the film’s secondary characters, including Carlos Estévez, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, and more.

Briefly: Hail to the chief!

It doesn’t make up for the fact that the film has been delayed, but director Robert Rodriguez has just debuted a bad-ass new poster for Machete Kills.

Briefly: It’s been a bad week for Robert Rodriguez fans. First, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was delayed nearly a year, and now the upcoming Machete Kills has also been postponed. Luckily, this push isn’t nearly as long: instead of opening on September 13th, the film will premiere on October 4th.

Machete is almost ready to return to theatres, and this time he’s been hired by the president himself.

The first trailer for the latest film by Robert Rodriguez, Matchete Kills, has just debuted online. The film looks to retain the very stylish look and feel of the first movie (which of course stemmed from that fake trailer attached to 2007’s Grindhouse). Machete Kills sports quite the cast, including Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodrigues, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga, Charlie Sheen, and more! Just in from our friends over at IndieWire. Today at a press event Robert Rodriguez and Univision Communications announced that they will be teaming up to produce a brand new Television Network.

The English language El-Rey will be geared toward young adults with programming focused on pretty much everything, from unscripted and sports all the way to dramas and animations. Rodriguez was quoted as saying:

I’m thrilled to be partnering with Univision on this groundbreaking initiative to deliver high-quality original programming to our community and the wider, mainstream audiences, El Rey Network will serve as a launching pad to satisfy the tastes of young adults looking for exciting, cinematic, action-packed content. As a broadcast leader in media, Univision is the best partner to support us in achieving this vision.

But that is all boring news compared to what kind of scripted series are planned. Rodriguez announced that he will be adapting the 1996 film ” From Dusk Til Dawn” as a series. He will be writing and directing and plans on expanding the lore of the film. He has also brought on board Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek) to produce an action adventure series for the network. Both shows will be filmed in Austin at Rodriguez’s headquarters.

So keep an eye out on the TV Program Guides this December for El-Rey

The cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is already huge. And there’s a chance it may be even bigger than we know. While talking about the upcoming film, actress Jamie King may have slipped up and revealed that there’s another actor appearing in the film who hadn’t been previously revealed.

“It was really fun because I got to do the part that was in the comic book. I was there the first day of filming when nobody else was cast except for Jessica Alba, Mickey [Rourke], and [Rosario Dawson]. None of the other people were cast so I was acting to someone’s hand. Imagine doing all your scenes with no one. Is it going to be Fassbender? Is it going to be Levitt? Brolin? It was a real trip.”

See, everyone that Jamie King listed has been revealed as being a part of the film. Everyone that is, except for Michael Fassbender, who she randomly named among a group  of the film’s cast members. Is there a chance that we may be seeing the actor making a surprise cameo in the film?

We’ll have to wait and find out when Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theaters October 2, 2013.

Variety is reporting that Stacy Keach has joined the ever growing cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Keach will play the role of mob boss Wallenquist aka “The Kraut”, who is described by Rodriguez as “the one man who can’t be redeemed in Sin City” and “pure evil.” His face is evidently replete with heavy scars and burn wounds.

While the cast of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has been shaping up very nicely (everyone from Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Josh Brolin to Mickey Rourke to Ray Liotta seem to be involved), Bruce Willis, who played the extremely major character of Hartigan in the first film, has been oddly silent. We’ve been wondering for some time now if he’d even make it into the film, or if his (still major) character would have to be recast.

You can now quit your worrying and rest easy, as Robert Rodriguez has just confirmed to MTV that the venerable (and busy) actor is confirmed for the sequel. It’s brief, but you can’t get much more of a confirmation than this:

“Bruce is back, so you’ll be seeing him.”

Excited? You can watch the interview with Robert Rodriguez below (though only if you’re in the US, which means that I haven’t seen it). The topics include Bruce Willis (of course), and they also delve into both the 3D elements of the film, and just who Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing. Enjoy!

It has just been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit that Robert Rodriquez’s Machete Kills will be hitting theaters on September 13th, 2013. It was previously thought that the sequel would be hitting theaters in July, but it appears that is no longer the case with this one. The film features Danny Trejo, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Sofía Vergara, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, and Lindsay Lohan. It’s a pretty damn impressive cast to say the least. Now that a release date has been set, a trailer should be expected pretty soon.

Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.

Quite a bit of casting news coming down regarding Robert Rodgriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Yesterday when word broke that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had signed on for the film it was also revealed that Josh Brolin (MIB3, Oldboy) was being looked at for one of the film’s roles as well. Well, Brolin has now officially been cast as Dwight, who was played by Clive Owen in the first film, in the upcoming sequel. Check out the full press release below.

Today Dimension Films announced another big name that has been added to the SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR cast roster, further ramping up the ensemble – Academy Award® nominee Josh Brolin (GANGSTER SQUAD, MILK). Brolin will star as “Dwight” in the follow up to FRANK MlLLER’S SIN CITY for co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. The part of the “Dame” has yet to be cast.

Dwight is one of the favorite characters from Miller’s books and the 2005 film. In SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

“Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and “A Dame To Kill For” is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight,” said Rodriguez and Miller.

Brolin will next be seen alongside Sean Penn in the Warner Bros. 1940’s police drama Gangster Squad set for release January 11, 2013. Brolin recently completed production on the Jason Reitman-directed film Labor Day opposite Kate Winslet, in addition to Spike Lee’s Oldboy, a remake of the popular Korean film. Brolin last appeared as young “Agent K” in Men in Black 3, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and co-starring Will Smith and Emma Thompson. In 2008, Brolin was nominated for an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and received awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Board of Review for his portrayal of ‘Dan White’ in Gus Van Sant’s acclaimed film Milk. Prior to that, Brolin earned a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of an ensemble for his work in Joel and Ethan Coen’s No Country for Old Men, which also won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR weaves together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants.

The star studded ensemble includes already announced original cast members Academy Award® nominee Mickey Rourke as “Marv,” Jessica Alba as “Nancy,” Rosario Dawson as “Gail” and Jaime King as “Goldie/Wendy” with new cast members Joseph Gordon-Levitt as “Johnny,” Dennis Haysbert as “Manute” and Jamie Chung as “Miho.” Production is underway at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is scheduled theaters October 4th.

Deadline has just broken news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to star in Frank Miller and Robert Rodrigueze’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Levitt will play the role of ‘Johnny’, a part that was actually at one point offered to Johnny Depp.

Levitt will be joining the returning cast from the first film as well as newcomers which may include Josh Brolin (Gangster Squad). Brolin is among a list of actors that the studio is courting for “tough guy” roles in the sequel.

The site also goes on to reveal that Levitt has ended talks with Marvel Studios regarding the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy and that the studio will now be looking at other candidates. So, scratch one name off the not-so-short list of candidates for the role.

New York, NY January 7, 2013 – Dimension Films announced today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (LOOPER, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES) is joining the all-star cast as one of the lead characters in the highly anticipated SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. The film is the follow up to co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s 2005 visually groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY. Other major casting announcements will continue to follow.

Gordon-Levitt will play “Johnny,” a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.

“Johnny is a new character in the Sin City world and we are excited for what Joseph will bring to the role,” said Rodriguez and Miller.

Gordon-Levitt most recently wrote, directed and stars in DON JON’S ADDICTION which will premiere this month at Sundance and also stars Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore.

The original SIN CITY broke new ground with its iconic stylish look. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will not only bring fans back to the world that Miller and Rodriguez created, but also add a new dimension by bringing their unique visual style to life in 3D.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR was developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award® winner William Monahan (The Departed). The film will be released by Dimension Films in the US and Canada on October 4, 2013 and is produced by Robert Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions, Aldamisa, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist.

Actor Chris Meloni (Man Of Steel, Law And Order: SVU) is the latest addition to join the cast of Robert Rodgriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Meloni will be one of the “tough guys” joining the cast as a lead role as a cop.

The sequel from director Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, has just begun shooting this past Monday in Austin. They will be joining the returning cast members Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson.

Chung will be replacing Devon Aoki from the first film as the katana-wielding assassin, Miho. King actually appeared in the first Sin City film as the golden-haired prostitute Goldie and will be joining the sequel as her twin sister, Wendy.
