Take A Look At First Official Image From ‘Machete Kills’

The sequel to Machete, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Danny Trejo, has been picked up for North American distribution in 2013 by Open Road Films and we also have the first offical image from the film. Rumor is that we can expect the first trailer to be attached to Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

Mickey Rourke Is Officially Back As Marv In “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For”

Mickey Rourke is officially returning as fan favorite character Marv in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Although poor Marv died in the electric chair in the original Sin City, A Dame To Kill For takes place before those events. Also according to the same article at Deadline, Rourke is is in talks to join Gerard Butler in the Albert Hughes directed Motor City for Joel Silver’s Dark Castle. which centers on a man who is double crossed and seeks revenge on the guy who put him behind bars and took his woman. Motor City will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Vanessa Hudgens Joins The Cast Of ‘Machete Kills’!

Just when you thought Robert Rodriguez couldn’t add anymore females to his cast. Oh wait, it’s a Robert Rodriguez movie. Hudgens will join Sofia Vergara, Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga and Michelle Rodriguez. There are some male actors in the movie too. I think.

Well, I can’t say that I am excited for her as much as the others. But anyway…here’s a synopsis for the movie!

The second film in the Machete trilogy finds Machete mourning the loss of his beloved Sartana, slain during a run in with the cartels. Machete is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a cartel leader, Mendez the Madman, who threatens to fire a missile on the US. Machete foils Mendez’s plot only to find that the missiles are remote wired to and triggered by the madman’s still beating heart. The only man who can disarm the missile is eccentric billionaire arms dealer, Luther Voz, who has hatched a plan of his own to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on Voz and his army in order to dismantle his master plan for global anarchy

No release date has been set yet. However expect about ten more announcements of hot females joining the cast. No, I’m just kidding. Well….maybe.

Lady Gaga Joins The Cast Of “Machete Kills”

Looks like Robert Rodriguez’ Machete sequel Machete Kills is about to get a heavy dose of fabulousness, as Lady Gaga herself joins the cast, in what will be her first real acting gig in a major movie. Rodriguez revealed that Gaga will be playing a character called La Chameleón (do I really have to translate that?) and even released a teaser image to go along with the announcement.  In a tweet, Rodriguez had this to say:

“I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!”

Ex-Spy Kid Alexa Vega Joins ‘Machete Kills’

Alexa Vega is best known as Carmen Cortez in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids films. Well now she’s all grown up and has just landed herself a role in Rodriguez’s Machete Kills. She’ll be playing the role of KillJoy, a character which I can only assume to be a “sexy” killer. Why do I assume that you ask? That would be because Vega posted a picture of herself in costume on her Instagram page. Check it out below…

‘Machete Kills’ Gets A President And Set Pics!

Machete Kills is currently in production and news is pouring in.  Yesterday, Robert Rodriguez tweeted this:

It’s the POTUS who recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico to take down an arms dealer, played by Mel Gibson, who wants to launch a weapon into space.

Sin City Sequel Gets Early Oct 2013 Release Date

Deadline reports that Dimension Films announced the release date for the long awaited (if not marginally forgotten) sequel to 2005’s Sin City today. Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is now slated for Oct. 4, 2013 release. Like the first film, it will again be directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with William Monahan adding a hand to the script (which is also written by the pair).

Production is set to begin later this summer in Austin, Texas, at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios. Sin City alum Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba, who played Marv and Nancy Callahan in the original, are slated to return. Nothing is official yet with regards to the other cast members, but so far they are expected to return. No word on who will replace the late Brittany Murphy as Shellie (if anyone).

Mel Gibson To Join Cast Of “Machete Kills”

Well, it looks like troubled star Mel Gibson is up for a supporting role in the sequel to “Machete,” according to Deadline. The sequel, “Machete Kills” will be directed by Robert Rodriguez and will once again feature bona fide bad-ass Danny Trejo as Machete. This time around: The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. 

It has not been revealed as to how big the role will be or whether or not he will be friend or foe to Machete, but what I do know for sure is that Mel had better not fuck with the wrong Mexican!

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Officially Begins Rolling This Summer

After years of speculation, it is finally official: Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will go before the cameras this summer with a 2013 release date, with original co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller once again at the helm. Dimension Films, which released the first film, is set to release the second movie as well. One difference is that this time, scripting duties will be split between Frank Miller and The Departed’s Oscar winning screenwriter William Monahan.

Here are some excerpts from the official press release via Deadline.

“The first question I am always asked is “When will you make another Sin City? ,” said Rodriquez. “I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait.”

Sin City creator, screenwriter and co-director Frank Miller said, “The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.”

The original comic series of A Dame To Kill For featured characters from the original Sin City like Marv and Dwight McCarthy. No mention was made in the press release whether Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke would return to their roles, but I’d say it’s a good bet they will.

Robert Rodriguez filming Sin City 2 and Machete Kills This Year

After what feels like seven years of waiting…oh wait, it was actually seven years of waiting–Sin City 2 is finally headed into production. Robert Rodriguez announced at at the SXSW Interactive Festival that the much-anticipated sequel to his Frank Miller Noir adaptation will be “going into production” this summer.  As exciting as this is, I’ll take it with a grain of salt until we see anything concrete, because it’s been “in production” for quite some time now.  While it’s unknown who will return for the sequel, Rodriguez said the casting will be “of the same caliber and ecclecticism” as the first film’s.  Years ago it was teased at that the popular graphic novel Hell and Back would be the centerpiece story of Sin City 2.

The sequel to the 2010 Grindhouse-spinoff Machete, aptly named Machete Kills will also start shooting in April.  Danny Trejo will undoubtedly reprise his role as the titular character, though other casting details are unknown at this point.  We can only hope Michelle Rodriguez signs on for the sequel.
