Come February 24, North American gamers can get their hands on another collectable, special edition of the New Nintendo 3DS XL: The Pikachu Yellow edition. The cover features art of the electric mouse Pokémon in a sketch-style. As one would expect, it looks very cute. Although, I personally would have preferred it be a new faceplate for the New Nintendo 3DS rather a whole additional XL but they didn’t ask me. The Pikachu Yellow Edition New Nintendo 3Ds XL will retail for US$199.99.

With upcoming games like Mario Sports SuperstarsPoochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World, Tank Troopers, and Pikmin (Working Title), 2017 is looking like a great year to invest in the 3DS if you haven’t already. Mario Sports Superstars brings five different real-life sports to the Mushroom Kingdom – Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Baseball, and Horse Racing – and lets players fine tune their skills in practice before trying their hand in single or multiplayer tournaments. Multiplayer is available both locally as well as online.

Launching alongside the game on March 24 are a series of amiibo cards for the game. Tapping one of these amiibo cards during the game yields a a “variety of fun bonuses.” Intriguing! For a limited time, physical copies of Mario Sports Superstars will come with one card included. Additional amiibo cards can be purchased in five-card blind packs for US$4.99 each.

This morning was the Animal Crossing direct for Animal Crossing New Leaf’s big update, and Nintendo has made one thing very clear. They really REALLY want you to buy their overstock of Animal Crossing Amiibo that no one bothers buying. Here’s how they plan on doing it!

– The new AC Amiibo card set features over 50 new villagers that you can meet via the new RV camp
– Once inside their RV you can chat with the villager, buy exclusive items with a new currency called  MEOW Coupons, and even convince them to move in.
-Meow bucks can be earned by completing constant challenges for your town
– You can now move your furniture like in everyone’s favorite 2015 house simulator Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. Thus makes HHD completely useless
– New items like a Wii U and New 3DS can be found to unlock new minigames such as the Dessert Island Survival from Amiibo Festival and Animal Crossing Puzzle League!
– The update is available RIGHT NOW!!
– SO MUCH MORE!

Check out the full direct below and get ready to return to your AC town for a little R&R.

July 15 will not only mark the release of the latest entry in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Generations, but the launch of a themed special edition New Nintendo 3DS XL as well. The system will be specially colored, blue in North America and Red for Europe. Both regions’ will feature the same art on the 3DS’s top shell, an emblem of the “Fated Four,” the main monstrous quartet from the game.

Monster Hunter Generations New Nintendo 3DS XL

It should be noted that Monster Hunter is a series that greatly benefits from the New Nintendo 3DS XL’s C-stick and ZL and ZR buttons. The former makes controlling the camera a breeze and the latter can be assigned to the new Hunter Artes. The standard New Nintendo 3DS also has these features.

A price for this system has not been listed but I imagine that it will cost about the same as other special editions, US$199.99. Regrettably, the game is not included. Neither is the AC adapter cable. While these omissions are not uncommon, it stings nonetheless.

What do you think of the New Nintendo 3DS XL – Monster Hunter Generation edition? Will you be adding it to your collection?

Show of hands: who had one or both of the original Gameboy games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue (Green never made it to the U.S.)? I remember choosing Blue back in the day.

Even those who didn’t have a chance to play those old cartridges should be psyched for the upcoming New Nintendo 3DS bundle. This commemorative edition will come packed with a New Nintendo 3DS (not an XL), two cover plates, copies of Red and Blue pre-installed along with a code for an exclusive HOME menu theme.

You will be able to purchase this bundle from video game retailers on February 27. Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, as well as Pokémon Yellow will also be available as eShop digital downloads on February 27.

Excited? Which classic title do you plan on re-playing first?
