If you’re a Fallout fan (and what gamer isn’t?), you’re likely well aware of Fallout: Nuka Breakthe fantastic fan film set in Bethesda’s atmospheric world.

The folks at Wayside Creations are at it again, this time taking on a Valve IP. Aperture R&D follows the scientists of the Aperture research labs… well, before everything went down with GLaDOS.

Watch the trailer for the series below, and let us know what you think! Aperture R&D premieres on March 15th!

Based in the world of Portal 2, the idiosyncratic scientists of Aperture Research Labs are in an endless battle for the meaningless title of Lab Team of the Month.

Machinima has just released the final two highly anticipated episodes of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.

I’ve been a HUGE fan of the miniseries so far. It’s amazing to get a better look at the first Cylon war, and learn more about the character we all loved so much in 2004’s Battlestar Galactica reimagining. Everything ends today unfortunately, as Blood and Chrome was not picked up beyond this point. We’ll miss you Bill.

Check out the episodes below, and as always, please share your thoughts! So say we all!

Episode 9:
In the aftermath of the deadly Cylon ambush, Coker threatens Becca, forcing Adama to a heated standoff.
Episode 10:
Becca discovers a startling new development that will affect the future of the human race. Meanwhile, Coker’s life hangs in the balance as the team holds out hope for a rescue, and Adama has a disheartening realization about the war effort and his place in it.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome is set to air on Syfy in full this February, with a home video release following a few weeks later. Or, you can watch the whole thing on Machinima right now!

Warner Bros. Digital today announced that a second season of their acclaimed (get it?) web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy is currently in production, and is set to premiere exclusively on Machinima in the second quarter of 2013.

The first season of Legacy has brought in over 60 millions views on Machinima’s YouTube channel, so a second season was nigh inevitable. It appears as though I’ve been living under a rock for the past year, as I’d actually never heard of the series until today. I was a huge Mortal Kombat fan when I was younger (children love hyperviolence), so it’s safe to say that I’ll now be checking the series out.

As far as plot goes, it doesn’t sound particularly deep (though does it really need to be?). The press release describes it as:

The saga continues as Liu Kang and Ermac join the ranks of fighters introduced in the first season of the web series including Kenshi, Kung Lao, Kuai Lang, Stryker, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Sub Zero.  This new season will uncover the rivalries and histories of these fierce warriors as Raiden and his recruits clash against the dark forces of Outworld.  The epic battle for Earthrealm has finally begun!

There was one other tidbit in the press release that I found to be oddly exciting: Casper Van Dien is Johnny Cage. You remember Casper don’t you? He’s best known for playing Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers, and Starship Troopers 3: Marauder. He’s also awesome, and he more than resembles Johnny Cage (though he may need to build a little extra muscle and get a few chest tattoos).

Check out the very first episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy below, and let us know if you’re excited for the second season! The first clip is set to premiere on February 17, at the 2013 Streamy Awards!

Again, season two should premiere in just a few months, and stars the likes of Harry Schum Jr (Glee), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Brian Tee (The Wolverine), Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-O), and Cary Tagawa (Mortal Kombat).

Machinima has just released episodes 7 and 8 of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. As fun as the ride has been these past few weeks, we now have just seven days until it ends.

The series has amassed over six-million views during its short lifespan, which is a testament to the fact that FANS ARE WATCHING. Of course, I just wish there was more content in the works.

Check out the episodes below, and as always, we’d love to hear your thoughts! Battlestar (and The Walking Dead) composer Bear McCreary is also participating in a Reddit AMA today, so you might want to check that out too!

So say we all!

Episode 7:
Waylaid by a ferocious storm, Adama, Coker and Becca reluctantly follow their eccentric savior, marine recon sergeant Xander Toth (John Pyper Ferguson), to shelter in an abandoned ski lodge. Adama and Coker finally find some common ground and secrets about Becca’s mysterious mission are revealed.
Episode 8:
The tentative safety of the ski lodge is abruptly shattered as Cylons breach Toth’s defenses. With Becca and Toth nowhere to be found, Adama and Coker face off against their deadly robotic pursuers. Becca makes a horrifying discovery about the Cylons’ agenda on Djerba.

What was I most looking forward to this Friday? Not shopping, as I’m all the way up in Canada. I just couldn’t wait to see what Bill Adama did next in the fantastic Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.

Unlike most shows that air on Fridays, Machinima wasn’t about to let this one get in the way of new content, and has just released episodes 5 and 6. Watch them below, and as always, let us know what you think!

Adama dogfights Raiders while the Battlestar Osiris tries to hold off a Cylon Basestar.

Miss anything? Check out past episodes here and here!

How are you feeling about the show so far? Wish it had been picked up for a whole season?

Blood and Chrome is set to conclude on December 7th. It will also air in full on Syfy sometime in February, with a Blu-Ray release shortly after.

Last Friday we got an awesome look at the first Cylon war in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. Today of course is Friday again, and Machinima has released the story’s next two chapters. Make sure to catch up with the first two if you missed them last week!

I was a huge fan of 2004’s Battlestar Galactica reimagining (for the most part), and was very excited when Blood and Chrome was announced. I still don’t know what SyFy was thinking when they didn’t pick it up for a full series, I’m sure it would have been a boon for ratings.

Check out the episodes below, and let us know what you think! Are you enjoying Luke Pasqualino’s portrayal of Adama?

‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20′s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet’ the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.

They’re here! Just yesterday we posted a cool new clip from the pilot of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, and now we can watch the whole episode (and a second one too)!

Check them out below, and let us know what you think! Don’t you wish this was picked up  for a whole season?

Episode 1: Ensign William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), barely in his 20′s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the colonial fleet: The Galactica. He quickly clashes with his co-pilot, Coker Fasjovik (Ben Cotton), a war-weary officer with just 47 days left on his tour of duty. In pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama can’t wait to enter the fray.

Episode 2: Adama and Coker’s supply mission features a surprise: their cargo is the beautiful and enigmatic scientist Dr Becca Kelly (Lili Bordan). The routine mission quickly becomes deadly as the small crew pilots their Raptor into Cylon territory.

New episodes will release each Friday until the finale on November 30th.

We’re less than 24 hours from the premiere of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, and Machinima obviously wants us to be excited for it (and boy am I excited).

Just a few days ago they released an impressive new trailer for the miniseries, and today Machinima Prime uploaded a fantastic new clip. Check out the scene below, and let us know what you think!

Are you planning to check out Blood and Chrome? Were you a fan of the 2004 series?

If you’re not sure what the show will be about, here is the official synopsis:

An all-new chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga, Blood and Chrome takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robot Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama, finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica

The series finale to Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn was everything we wanted it to be. After watching, I could not think of a better way to hype fans of the franchise more than this live-action series did. If for some reason you haven’t seen it yet, do so NOW!

The finale opens with the materialization of the Cortana we know and love. For those of you wondering why she’s been a blue sphere this entire time, it’s due to the fact that AI’s can embody any object or shape it wants to. This was showcased in Glasslands when the AI Black Box once materialized as a present with a bow that kept changing colors. Besides, who wouldn’t want to look their best for the Chief?!

Picking up where episode 4 left off, the remaining survivors of the planet along with Chief are on a desperate race to reach an evac point where Kelly and her squad are located. Now, I thought we saw all the scary we needed to see when a Spec Ops Elite engaged his active camouflage. Obviously the people behind FUD felt we needed more:

It’s not uncommon to see Jackals acting as scouts conduction recon, especially minors such as these. However, it is a little unusual to see a group of jackals without a commanding officer present. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seemed that nothing but Jackals were attempting to stop the Warthog.

This brings me to the big guys.

It should be common knowledge fans that Hunters are deployed in pairs. What may be uncommon knowledge is an event in the novels where a Hunter was commanding officer of a squad of Covies. I may be reading too much into this subject, believe me, the other part of my brain is yelling, “WHO CARES?! MASTER CHIEF JUMPED ON A HUNTER’S BACK AND ALSDFJADL!!!11!1” I know.

If you didn’t know before, you surely know now that Hunters are composed of small worms with a collective mind and mortar skills. It’s also important to note that the Hunter’s size directly correlates with the gravity of the planet. The worms, or as I call them, Hunty-Worms, can also be found in the rear part of a Scarab. Read up more about ’em here!

After safely making it to the evac point, Hastati squad boards a Pelican. It’s there where we are formally introduced to Fred and Kelly in live-action form, and yes, their faces freaked me out too.

Perhaps the funniest moment in all of Forward Unto Dawn was dialogue between Sully and Kelly.

The transition between Young Lasky and Present Lasky was awesome. What’s even more awesome was the shot of Lasky getting into the Cryo Pod displaying his courage despite his illness.

Lastly, the parting image before the release of Halo 4:

In case you missed last week’s awesome recap, catch it here! ‘Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn’ – Episode 2 Recap And Analysis

Never have sixteen minutes gone by in such a flash. ‘Forward Unto Dawn’ is shaping up to be everything we ever wanted from a live-action series based in our beloved Halo universe.

Cortana’s rampancy is becoming more apparent with each episode.

When it gets down to it, we may be faced with the predicament of trusting her during Halo 4’s campaign. Still, she said she was sorry.

Soon after learning of Lasky’s medical condition, caused by injections to prevent ice from forming on muscles during cryo sleep, Sully finally pieced all of the ONI footage together.

What I didn’t notice before was the height of the POV we were observing, a striking trait among Spartans.

After the Insurrectionists surrender to the Marines and Spartans, the Innies quickly turn around, scared, and run behind the Spartans while firing at what we now know was the Covenant. Sully pauses it on our first glimpse of a Spartan, though, the keen eye would see that this isn’t just any Spartan.

Frederic – 104 is a Spartan II, one of the highest rankings second only to Kurt, and a commando. At this point in time, it’s safe to say Fred is with Master Chief on this mission and I would also go as far to say that we may be watching Master Chief’s helmet cam. In the novels, Fred was described as being slightly shorter than John, an attribute that seems to be seen above. You can read more about Fred here, but beware the spoilers that litter the text for those who haven’t read the novels.

Later, Sully goes into Lasky’s room to show him a detail overlooked by the squad.

Since we are unable to see their jaws, this particular Elite could be a Ranger or SpecOps class.

Most of the action takes place in the last five minutes of this episode. I would say things didn’t become serious until the cadets looked up to see ODST drop pods falling.

Since there are no Pelicans heading to the surface, it’s likely to assume there is a battle taking place just above the planet as well in the skies above. The Covies breaking through the planet’s defenses means the Humans are losing or have already lost.

Covenant Frigates aren’t the kinds of ships that confront planetary defenses or go toe-to-toe with UNSC Capital Ships. Covie Frigates are usually used for support. That doesn’t mean they aren’t harmless. These frigates are equipped with shields, plasma turrets, and torpedoes. It’s also important to note that these frigates can house a few thousand Covies each.

And finally, a Covenant Frigate did what I had been waiting to see for three weeks now: Destroy the Orbital Space Elevator.

It’s destruction was, of course, complimented by a sprinkling of cadets.

I must say, hearing the thumps of the Elite’s footsteps added to the menacing introduction. After cutting down the statue of Corbulo, the glow of the Elite’s energy sword showed his the color of his armor:

That looks a lot like the SpecOps Elites we saw in Halo: Combat Evolved. The dark armor and armed only with an energy sword seems fitting for an Elite of this class. You can read more about SpecOps Elites here.

That’s it for this week. Did I miss anything? Comment below and I’ll be sure to add to next week’s recap and give you credit! Thanks for reading!

Last week, we brought you our breakdown and analysis for Episode 1… and now, the second episode of Forward Unto Dawn has arrived, clocking in at just under seventeen minutes. This week, we inch closer to seeing the Human-Covenant and even get a cameo!

Watch the episode here and then pour through our analysis:

We begin with Master Chief and Cortana aboard the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn. Cortana, who is well passed rampancy stage, reveals that it has been four years since the events of Halo 3.

Her monologue eerily reminded me of 343 Guilty Spark’s side effects of being alone, seen in Terminal 7 of Halo Anniversary.

To my knowledge, there hasn’t been any information regarding rampancy within the Halo monitors, such as Guilty Spark, however, I think we can all agree that Guilty Spark hasn’t always had the best interest all living things in mind.

Cadet Michael “Sully” Sullivan was seen in the last episode watching Classified ONI combat videos. As a refresher for anyone who doesn’t know, ONI stands for the Office of Navel Intelligence. They’re at the top of the UNSC and are very secretive. As said in the last recap, it has been over a year since first contact with the Covies. It’s plausible that the reports Silva was reading in the last episode were just cover-ups set forth by ONI to hide the fact that Humanity is now at war with an alliance of super-powered alien species.

Sully thinks he’s watching combat videos of battles between Insurrectionists and UNSC, but I think he may be noticing that Insurrectionists and USNC are actually fighting the Covenant.

If you look closely, you can see the green hue of a Plasma Pistol.

And let’s not forget what briefly flashed on the monitor while Sully was watching these videos:

MOAR COVIE-GLYPHICS

This brings me to Lasky’s brother. Being an ODST requires that you go on high priority missions. Lasky’s brother mentioned he dropped in Arcadia.

Arcadia should ring bells because that’s where a lot of the Halo Wars campaign took place. The battle for Arcadia didn’t happen until 2531, so, unless Silva was reading older news articles dated 2526 in episode 1, we’re a few years shy from Arcadia’s invasion.

All signs are pointing to a Covenant invasion next week. Comm towers have been knocked offline, General Black established a perimeter in the last episode, and the Human-Covenant War is already raging on.

As for next week, I hope we see that Orbital Space Elevator come crashing down, just as it did on Earth in Halo 3: ODST.

Frank O’ Connor!

Last week, Guernica and Tom pointed out that just because Lasky is the rank of Commander in Halo present day, doesn’t mean he’s in charge of the UNSC Infinity. Those duties belong to Captain Andrew Del Rio. Thanks!

Last week, MachinimaFlixist and Geekscape grouped up to hold an awesome (and awesomely successful) advanced screening of the upcoming horror Sinister. It was a ton of fun (or so I hear, I’m stuck up here in Canada), and an awesome experience for everyone involved.

Apologies to those who wanted to go but couldn’t! The screening turned out far more successful than we could have imagined: as we let you know previously, we actually had to ask for a bigger venue as we sold out the original so fast.

If you missed the screening, you’ll get a shot to see Sinister when it releases on October 12th. The film is said to be one of the scariest of the year, and currently holds 100% on RottenTomatoes. I know I’ll be lining up!

We managed to grab a few photo’s at the screening (just a few, in all our excitement we forgot that our phones also double as cameras). Also take a look at the exclusive poster that was created for the screening!

Folks lining up long before the film.
Huge lineup! A little bit closer now!
Sinister‘s director Scott Derrickson was there! Here he signs posters before the show.
The exclusive poster, created just for the screening!

Did you make it to the show? What did you think!?

Thanks again to all who made the screening such a success!

Sifl and Olly creator Liam Lynch sits down with me to talk about the return of Sifl and Olly, this time reviewing made up videogames on Machinima! Liam discusses making up fake games to parody, what real games he’s playing and how it feels to bring Sifl and Olly back after 8 years! We also talk about Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, what other projects he has swimming around Hollywood and just how awesome of a game Red Dead Redemption is! Plus a ton more!

Our friends at Machinima have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming live action series “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn”. Don’t get your hopes up too much for this. It’s just a teaser trailer. A full trailer is supposedly being released at SDCC this summer.

Screw the trailers. I think it’s time you let everyone know what “Forward Unto Dawn” actually means. That’s just artsy, fartsy crap. Who wrote that?!?

Oh yeah. Someone who probably plays a ton of Halo. Enjoy.

The good folks over at Variety have an exclusive interview with 343 Industries’ Matt McCloskey in which details of a new web series for the Halo franchise arise. Called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, this five episode series will be mostly geared towards new people not familiar with the Halo universe in order to catch them up to speed.

Machinima and Halo Waypoint will be the only places to find the web series in the weeks leading to November 6th, Halo 4’s release date. Check out the Variety interview for more info (warning, it might be behind a pay wall):
