After the fall of THQ, many of the games went up for sale, and developer Deep Silver (Metro, Dead Island) grabbed up a few. The Homefront franchise being one of them. Today Deep Silver announced their plans for the second game in the series. Teaming up with CryTek, they new duo released a nice little trailer to go alongside their PR.

If you aren’t too familiar with Homefront, let me bring you up to speed. Homefront one was a first person shooter set in the alternate future (or possible future?), a future where North Korea had unified the peninsula and started to expand its empire. Countless countries joined the DPRK as they moved West. The game takes place after a Korean invasion of the United States. You take the role of a freedom fighter trying to take your country back.

It had an amazing premise and the game starts out strong, but the story wasn’t as fleshed out as it should have been and it fell flat.

Homefront 2: The Revolution is set in an open world Philadelphia, where your actions directly affect the world around you. Players have to rely on guerrilla tech, ambushes and tactics all the while the enemy has nice shiny new guns and tanks!

Only a vague 2015 release date has been announced, but the promise of more footy and info at E3 makes us excited!

A new trailer for the next game to come out of Crytek has surfaced, and it isn’t another Crysis. Warface is a “Social FPS”, that looks DAMN good. This ain’t no Facebook game. Lets watch the trailer and delve deeper.

You get all that? In a nutshell Warface is a Free to Play “Social FPS”. The cool part is it’s delivery method. Crytek have their own social network called Gface which this game will be released through. It is a browser based game platform that allows players to drop in and drop out on the fly in any of their games.

Warface is using the CryEngine 3 which means it will be scalable over pretty much any modern PC. So what can you expect from Warface in terms of gameplay? Well not much has been released but what they have said is pretty intriguing. There will be monthly PVE “coop” events where players can team up and go against the AI. There will also be classic PVP matches where teams can duke it out deathmatch style.

So, you’re asking what the gameplay looks like? Well take a gander at this other trailer that features in game footage!

It looks so rad! It’s like Rainbow 6, Battlefield and CoD had a love baby and Crysis was the surrogate. Prices for the game itself haven’t been released, if there is any, and the inevitable premium portions have not been hinted at all yet.

So when we get more information for you on this epic looking browsers based game, we will be sure to keep you up to date!

More great news from GamesCom. EA and Crytek have announced their new mulitplayer mode for their upcoming release, Crysis 3. “Hunter Mode” lets players actually be the predator, like the one who hunted Arnold, up against 14  CELL soldiers. Take a peak at the release trailer below.

Now aside from the slightly annoying robotic voice narrating every kill, this looks like it could be really, really fun. From what I can gather, the hunters only have bows and melee kills at their arsenal, while the CELL soldiers have numbers and gadgets on their side. “Hunter Mode” is looking to be a nice selling point for Crysis 3.

Crysis 3 is slated to be released sometime in 2013 on Xbox, PS3 and PC.
