I attended Philadelpiha Wizard World on Sunday (22nd) and grabbed some interviews with a bunch of people including Lloyd Kaufman of Troma, the good people of RetroCon and Scott Derby to name few. This episode also comes with the bonus content of a microphone fuck up where the whole interview is just last week’s guest Lily LeDeux selling photos while I try to interview her boss. Lesson is don’t us omnidirectional mics at a convention.

Briefly: It’s been well over a year since Disney first announced a followup to the much beloved 90’s series Boy Meets World, and today the network has debuted the first teaser for the upcoming sequel, Girl Meets World.

The teaser is a pretty cute throwback to the old series, when Cory would try to sneak out of his parent’s house. I won’t ruin things for fans however, so take a look at the (short) teaser below, and let us know what you think. Girl Meets World will premiere on Disney Channel this Summer.

You did know that there was a Boy Meets World spinoff in the works, didn’t you?

Yep, that’s right. Girl Meets World has been in development over at Disney for some time now. Both Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage have signed on to reprise their classic characters (Topanga and Cory, respectively).

We’ve all been wondering who would be playing the aforementioned girl, and we now have our answer. EW revealed today that 11 year old Rowan Blanchard, who previously appeared in Spy Kids 4D and The Back-up Plan, will be playing the role of Riley Matthews.

Girl Meets World is schedule to begin its pilot production next month. I know I’ll be watching whenever it premieres, will you?

Earlier this month it was announced that Disney’s 90’s hit Boy Meets World was getting a sequel! Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel were in early talks to reprise their roles, which was a very exciting piece of news for fans of the original show.

It’s now official: Deadline has just reported that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have BOTH signed on to reprise their roles. I never thought I’d be able to say it, but Corey and Topanga are headed back to television.

Now that they’re officially involved, I can definitely see old fans checking out Girl Meets World. Many of those old fans will have children of their own by now, and it would be very cool to see both generations able to enjoy this show. The series will take place over a decade after Boy Meets World concluded. Corey and Topanga are still together and are now raising a daughter of their own.

Girl Meets World is still early in development and as such, doesn’t yet have a release date. I grew up with the original series, and I’ll certainly be checking this one out whenever it premieres. How about you?

Well this makes me feel old.

Extremely unexpected but oddly exciting, the beloved Corey and Topanga Matthews may be making their way back to television.

TV Line today revealed the The Disney Channel is beginning development on a follow-up series to Boy Meets World. The show is will follow the life of the high-school sweetheart’s pre-teen daughter, and be appropriately titled Girl Meets World.

The article also states that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are wanted to reprise their roles, though neither have signed on at this point.

Honestly, the series is definitely going to be a love it or hate it affair. Boy Meets World began in 1993, and many of the people that grew up with it now have their own children. If they can make the series appeal to old fans and new ones alike, Disney Channel is going to have a winner on their hands.

I know I’ll at least be tuning into the pilot. How about you? It still brings back memories whenever I hear that iconic theme song:
