As you probably know, here at Geekscape we’re huge fans of Jon Schnepp.

You’ve surely seen (or are at least aware of) some of his previous work like Metalocalypse and Grimm Fairy Tales, and maybe you even supported the Kickstarter for his upcoming documentaryThe Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened? I can confidently say that you’ve never seen anything like this.

Schnepp’s latest baby is an incredible-looking, what-the-fuck inducing animated film/series titled Unicrom: The Unicorn Barbarian. The official campaign page for Unicrom states that it’s “A surreal insano animated “Thundarr on Acid” adventure, this f’ed up feature film will force funnel funny until your brain explodes!!!”

After watching the project’s Kickstarter video, that’s clearly an accurate description.

Schnepp is looking for a reasonable $84,000 to fund a pilot episode, while an additional 9 episodes (completing the first season and also acting as a feature film) will cost an additional $45,000 each. This means that the total goal for the complete season is a hefty (but definitely worth it) $489,000. There’s even an opportunity for a secret Brony episode if the campaign raises enough funds!

Unicrom: The Unicorn Barbarian will feature an astonishing voice cast that consists of Mark Hamill (Mark freaking Hamill), Dana Snyder, Laraine Newman, Martin Star, and Bobcat Goldthwait (to name a few). The series sounds and looks absolutely incredible, and is a Kickstarter that I’ll surely be backing.

As always, there are some fantastic rewards in store for backers. You can earn everything from downloads, DVD’s and Blu-Ray’s, to Unicrom toys, posters, and even spots on the show! I saw some of Schnepp’s The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened? toys at last week’s Comikaze Expo, and they were definitely something that I wish I had.

Take a look at the Kickstarter video for Unicrom: The Unicorn Barbarian below, and head here to back! Be sure to let us know if you’ll be taking part in the campaign!

Briefly: Surprising nobody on the entire planet, AMC has just renewed the record-breaking series The Walking Dead for a fifth season.

“We are very happy to make what has to be one of the most anti-climactic renewal announcements ever:  The Walking Dead is renewed for a fifth season,” AMC president Charlie Collier stated today. “This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently – and most notably – with the season four premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest non-sports telecast in cable history. On behalf of the incredible team on both sides of the camera, thank you to the fans and here’s to more Dead.”

I haven’t had a chance to begin Season Four yet, but I’m hearing nothing but good things about it now that new showrunner Scott Gimple has taken over. Gimple is set to stay in his position through the newly-announced season.

What do you think of the news? Are you enjoying season four so far? Sound out below!

Briefly: Now I really wish that I made it to last night’s screening (I’m currently sitting the airport awaiting my flight to Los Angeles).

Following last night’s very special screening of Trick ‘r Treat at the Egyptian theatre in Los Angeles, Legendary Pictures announced that a Trick ‘r Treat sequel is in the works with original director Michael Dougherty at the helm.

This is awesome news! After never having a theatrical release (even though it definitely deserved it), Trick ‘r Treat quickly became a cult classic, and I hear about more and more people discovering it each and every year. Dougherty is a talented director, and I really can’t wait to see what he and his team come up with for this sequel.

You can rewatch the Q&A from last night’s screening below, and let us know if you’re excited! There’s no real info on the film yet, but we’ll be sure to share it as soon as it’s announced!

Briefly: It looks as though viral marketing for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has begun. Trask Industries has just launched their official website, and with it comes our first official look at Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask, as well as our anticipated first peek at the Sentinels.

The Trask Industries site is a pretty impressive one as far as viral marketing goes. It’s very functional, and feels very much like the work of a real company. There’s plenty of intriguing information presented throughout, and I’d really recommend that you spend some time with it.

Check out a few photos from the site below, including a look at an older model Sentinel as well as a more modern one, and a wonderful portrait of Bolivar Trask. I think I saw someone wearing that same pair of glasses earlier today!

Many of you were disappointed to learn that the Sentinel’s wouldn’t be gigantic in the film. How are you feeling now that you’ve seen some photos of them? And how do you feel about Dinklage in the role now that you have an official portrait?

This art was simply too gorgeous not to share!

Man of Steel concept artist Warren Manser has released some of the incredible work he did for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The finished feature, of course, looked absolutely gorgeous. When you’re working off of concepts like this, it’s easy to see why!

Take a look at some of the artwork below, and head to Manser’s official site for even more!

Kal’s mom is definitely rocking a Padmé look in some of those shots, isn’t she?
