It’s been reported that Tron 3 has reached the end of the line. Disney will no longer be developing the film (that was never officially greenlit). In early April it was reported that Olivia Wilde and Garret Hedlund were set to reprise their roles and production would be moving forward.

I may be in the minority of people who enjoyed Tron Legacy, so I am kinda bummed the sequel isn’t happening. Disney had the animated series that didn’t last beyond its first season, so maybe they felt that the fan fare just wasn’t there anymore. END OF LINE.

What do you think of the news? Were you looking forward to a third film? Sound out below!

After TRON: Legacy‘s less than stellar box office earnings in 2010, Disney seems to have repeatedly shifted back and forth on the decision to produce a third film.

Today however, was a good day for TRON fans. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that TRON 3 (not the official title) is again moving forward with writer Jesse Wigutow slated to rewrite the script. TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski had previously signed on to direct the follow up. Of course, nothing has been revealed about the plot at this point, but after the way that Legacy concluded, it’ll certainly be interesting to see where they go with it.

I enjoyed TRON: Legacy, and was quite disappointed when the film didn’t do well (meaning chances of another film in the series were slim). I found myself quite invested in the world and its characters, so it would be hard for me not to get excited about this one!

What did you think of TRON: Legacy? Are you looking forward to a third movie?
