Former NFL player and current activist, author and PC gaming geek Chris Kluwe is back on Geekscape to talk about what it means to “defund” the police, activism and politics in sports and his brand new book ‘Otaku’, which is set in a near future world of professional online gaming! We’ll also be talking about the NFL reversing its view on taking a knee, why Ben Shapiro is made of month old yogurt and a lot of video gaming talk! That last time Chris was on I was left in stitches so be ready for another hilarious and informative conversation!

You can pick up Chris’ new book ‘Otaku’ right here!

Ed Greer is a long time comedian, performing in LA at places like The Laugh Factory, The Ice House and appearing on Comedy Central. He’s also the co-host of the Nerd GOAT podcast. So yeah, we’ve done a few geek podcasts together! I’ve been wanting to get Ed on the show for a while now so we’re all in luck! In this episode we talk about The Snyder Cut, teaching kids to not be racist, major current events including COVID-19 and the George Floyd protests and way more! Enjoy!

Former NFL player Chris Kluwe claims to be as much a geek as he is a jock… and he for sure proves it on this episode! I visited Chris to talk about his upcoming book dystopian future set sci-fi book ‘Otaku’ and on the way we got carried away by talking politics, futurism, evolving culture and tech shifts, cyclical history and a lot more! I tell you that ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ is worth watching in theaters and Chris hilariously explains to me how 4Chan evolved (or devolved) into 8Chan! We also talk ‘Otaku’, writing sci-fi, some of Chris’ biggest influences and wrapping your head around getting things done. Also, what are the similarities between competitive gaming and playing pro sports? There’s a LOT to digest in this episode so enjoy!

John Fugelsang is a comedian, an actor, a radio host, a political commentator and so much more! And now… he’s a guest on the Geekscape podcast! Know that John is vocal about both politics and religion (the two things you’re NOT supposed to talk about on the internet), we dive head first into both! We discuss the current climate of bullies, both in gradeschool and in society, and growing up with them as geeks! We can’t seem to avoid talking about the Star Wars Prequels and how there might have been more to Jar Jar than we first though! And we work our way to the Marvel Universe and Planet of the Apes and so much more! Enjoy!

This one’s already funded, but with six days left of its campaign I know that we can help Vox Populi hit its stretch goal!

You’ll definitely recognize actor/director Sean Aston. He’s stared in a plethora of films including The Goonies, The War of the Roses, Toy Soldiers, and most notably The Lord of the Rings trilogy (as the very important Samwise Gamgee). Did you know that Sean also hosts a discussion-based radio show?

That show is Vox Populi: Voice of the ‘Occasionally Interested’ People. It’s is a forum for politics, government & world events, divergent viewpoints and a high standard of civil discourse. Just like Geekscape, Vox Populi airs on the fantastic ToadHop network, which has a large archive of previously aired episodes.

As the Vox Populi Kickstarter states, with absolutely no funding they’ve “managed to book National Caliber Guests, for example: U.S. House of Representative Members, & diverse high caliber influencers such as Noam Chomsky & Michael Medved. Everyday people from around the world, people with wildly divergent viewpoints on every topic listen and call in live to the show. After an exhaustive trial period, we are now ready to Launch the Show as a viable competitor in the National Pundit Marketplace. With your help, we are READY FOR PRIME TIME!!!”

Everyone involved with Vox Populi wants to create a bigger, more robust experience, so they’ve taken to Kickstarter in order to fund a fully-produced second season. Money raised from the campaign will be used to create a more secure infrastructure for the series. Staff will be hired, equipment will be purchased, and the show’s quality will increase exponentially. If the Vox Populi stretch goals are met, a full-time producer and part-time social media expert will be hired, and a dedicated Vox Populi app may even be produced (allowing you to listen, call, and text into the show with just a tap)!

It’s a great cause, and a very important series. Of course with all things Kickstarter, there are some great rewards available for backers! Exclusive booklets, credits on the show, wristbands, DVD’s, coffee with Sean Aston, and a lot of other great incentives are available.

Again, the project has already been funded, but I’d love for the second season of Vox Populi to be the best it can possibly be, and that means that we’ve got some funding to do! Watch the Kickstarter video for the project below, and head to the official campaign page to back!
