Its been a long time since Spongebob Squarepants has been consistently good. The first 3-4 Seasons plus the first movie was some of the smartest stuffto come out of a supposedly “kids show.” Even now with current episodes and seasons not reaching the original heights it used to (although it has started getting better again.) the shows creator Stephen Hillenburg should be applauded at the empire he has created, and how he single handedly changed cartoons forever after Spongebob.
Sadly, it seems like bad things always happen to good people as Hillenburg himself recently announced that he has been diagnosed with early stages of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. For those unaware at what ALS is, it’s a disease that slowly deteriorates and weakens the nerve cells in your boday, making it hard to do almost anything after a while. Even with this diagnosis, Hillenburg says he will work as hard as he’s ever had on the show until he can’t any longer.
