UPDATE: Nintendo Account System Is A Go! Register Now!

UPDATE:  Nintendo’s Miitomo pre-registration website is now live, as well!  It can be accessed at https://miitomo.com/en/.  Hey, what’s that coffee we see on the side there?  Remember codename Project Café (the Wii U’s codename)?  Perhaps an Easter Egg of some sort.  Don’t forget to register!  Everybody who pre-registers will earn “My Nintendo Platinum Points.”

Until today, the ability to register for a Nintendo Account was only limited to Japan.

Right now, it’s also available to the rest of the world!

The website can be reached at http://accounts.nintendo.com , and is designed to be the pre-registration for the My Nintendo program, which will be launching soon at an unspecified date. The system also allows you to link a NNID (Nintendo Network ID), Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter account. Other than that, there are no extended features to speak of at the moment.

This could be a huge step into this century for Nintendo, who has been sorely lacking many of the online features of other platforms (re-downloading games onto alternative consoles, for instance.

We’re looking forward to seeing where this program will take Nintendo!  I’ve certainly already created mine, have you created yours?
