It’s impressive that Dylan didn’t pull something with this stretch but since a New Scream Movie came out and the first Scream was released in December of 1996 … he’s decided that counts enough for us to discuss this horror film with zero Christmas themes on our Christmas podcast.

There’s been dumber ideas I suppose!!

But this review is PACKED WITH SPOILERS so don’t listen if you don’t want these films ruined for you.

There’s a saying we like to keep going around the HMN offices – “It’s Mummy’s Day somewhere.” In the spirit of Mummy’s Day, we invited our good friend Nate Lopez from 91 Donkey Lane to discuss the Lovecraft/King monster mash that is IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS (1994). We put on our bookreadin’ glasses and crack the covers of some Sutter Cane best-sellers to bring the apocalyptic giggles and maybe a wall of tentacle monsters. Side note, how do you get sharpie crosses off your skin? Asking for an insurance investigator friend…

1994 was a landmark year for both music and film. Somewhere in that whirlwind of Dookie and the Shawshank Redemption, the Downward Spiral and Forrest Gump, and The Blue Album and Pulp Fiction was LUCAS. No, not the 1986 Corey Haim movie…we’re talking about the Danish rapper Lucas, and his single “Lucas With The Lid Off”. The song was in regular rotation on MTV, thanks partly to a Michel Gondry directed music video. This week, Tony Hartman returns to the show to discuss this jazz rap / electro swing jam. Did we catch the vibe, or was he was a ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba ba-ba ba-blunder? Tune in to this week’s episode to find out!

This may not be the best of the best episode of The Bulletproof Podcast, but it is the Best of the Best episode of The Bulletproof Podcast. Chris and Chad look back at 1989’s Best of the Best starring Eric Roberts, James Earl Jones, Sally Kirkland and Phillip Rhee. Did Alex Grady help build the car that ran over his son Walter? Why weren’t the alternates present for the entire 3 months of training? Was Sonny the most worthless member of the team?

Since we’ve had our first snows in the Northeast we decided to discuss some of our fondest snow day memories and discuss how Dylan does his Snow Days!

Little did Scott know when picking this week’s movie, there are TWO films from 1990 called Metamorphosis and surprise! We collectively watched both, so we guess this is kind of a two-fer episode? There’s body horror aplenty, so don’t forget the paper towels and hand sanitizer for this discussion – it’s gonna get gooey…

We let the members of our new Patreon page vote for an episode, and they overwhelmingly chose Go West’s song “King of Wishful Thinking” from the Pretty Woman soundtrack. Did we listen to the talk of the town, or were we just trying to fool ourselves when it comes to one of the MOST adult contemporary songs ever? Tune in to hear us break down this simultaneously happy and heart-wrenching (emphasis on the WRENCH) pop jam.

This year Big Mouth released one of the most vulgar Christmas Specials we’ve seen in a long time so of course we watched it and discussed it!

It’s a new year, time to start thinking about what frat you’re going to rush and which popped collar douchbags you’re going to let verbally and physically abuse you in the name of brotherhood. Can we suggest Heta Mu Nu? We promise to only make you eat 1 butt-cherry and no calling people the f-word. Oh and the gooey ghost of Joey Belladonna may or may not be haunting our frat house so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Our first episode of 2022 is the 1990 straight-to-video PLEDGE NIGHT, a comedy-cum-supernatural slasher written and directed by a porn director, starring people who can’t act and featuring yet another Freddy clone killer apparition, but at least it’s set in the wintertime, which is the correct season for the actual Hell Week shenanigans we still somehow let happen every year at colleges across the US. Now clean up the mess we just made, pledgie!

When you Google the adjective “Cumbersome”, the first thing that comes up is the definition of the word, which is “large or heavy and therefore difficult to carry or use”. The second thing that comes up, however, is a giant YouTube thumbnail image of Seven Mary Three leader singer Jason Ross. Most people, in fact, instantly think of this 1996 modern rock single any time they hear the word, and this week’s guest Trevor Leonard is no exception. Are Seven Mary Three too heavy, too light, too black or too white, too wrong or too right? Tune in to this week’s episode to find out!

Arnold’s John Matrix, a rogue’s gallery of villains and the greatness of both Alyssa Milano and Rae Dawn Chong are discussed… Plus, what action oriented Christmas gifts did Chris and Chad receive this year. Listen and find out… Let’s Party!!!

Recorded during the Geekscape Holiday Livestream for Big Brothers Big Sisters Dylan and Matt discuss their favorite Christmas Commercials with Thomas Combs (aka the Pop Daddy on YouTube).

The results of our Black Friday poll are in and the winner is our inner child, because you voted overwhelmingly for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II: THE SECRET OF THE OOZE (1991)! Whether that inner child is still entertained by goofy pratfalls performed by martial artists in foam rubber suits is questionable, but the point is that we’re doing what we can to keep you coming back for more in 2022 as we round out this year with some wholesome nostalgia talk. We will be back next week with horror, but this week, Ninja Rap is born!

It’s crazy that we got 100 episodes in before talking about A-ha; so it seems like it was the only appropriate way to celebrate 100 episodes of the podcast but to take on Take on Me. Are they even a One-Hit Wonder? Matt will explain why it’s a bit of a gray area.

Forget the Elf on the Shelf, the real one to watch out for this holiday season is Bill Moseley with his brain in a see-through plastic hat! Hot from our second annual Geekscape livestream is our discussion of the all-around-crappy SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT 3: BETTER WATCH OUT (1989) and we want to be totally clear that this was only picked because we’ve already talked about SNDN4 and 5, and Scott wimped out of watching FEEDERS 2. We really just wanted to check out the directorial prowess of a guy named Monte HELLMAN. We’re still not convinced that’s a real name…

We got through another 50 episodes of podcasts and we celebrate the same way we did last year … by ranking everything we’ve discussed in that time to determine what’s the best song we covered this year

The Bulletproof Podcast was part of The 2nd Annual Geekscape Holiday Livestream-tacular on December 17th and if you missed it you can listen in on Chris the Brain, Chad Cruise and Ryan Campbell as they discuss their favorite Die Hard Clones… Sudden Death, Air Force One, Toy Soldiers, Under Siege and more are discussed! Plus, some Google madness BONUS AUDIO as Chris the Brain shares some of the questionable search terms that have directed people around the world to BulletproofAction.com in 2021!

This show is no stranger to killer animal movies, but you’ll be surprised to learn that this week’s movie was NOT picked by one of the hosts, but rather our illustrious guest Gelsey Laurie from the podcast Before My Time. She braved the deep end of late 70s Corman schlock and graced us with Joe Dante’s directorial debut, PIRANHA (1978)! Tune in as we puzzle over what hungry tropical fish sound like as they murder innocent swimmers (hint: it’s either birds or medical equipment) and relive the childhood trauma this film inflicted upon us. Get in the water or Paul Bartel is going to say some really disheartening things to you.

This week we are joined once again by Jim Logrando to talk about Misfits’ first vocalist Danzig and his hit song Mother ’93. It took 5 years from the release of the original song for this to climb the charts but it’s left an everlasting impression on people and is still almost 3 decades later Danzig’s signature song.

Last year we did the Geekscape Holiday Livestream-tacular which helped us raise $1,120 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central and Northern New Jersey! This year we are back at it and trying to raise $2,000

This year on top of the raised goal we are also trying to raise money for a specific child named Liam.

Liam is nine years old and has been on the waiting list for more than a year due to a lack of male volunteers. Living with his mom, he’d love to experience more activities that suit his interests. Most of all, Liam is looking to have “a guy in his life that he can relate to!”

Liam struggles with peer relationships, but the right mentor can help encourage self-confidence. He’s an easygoing kid who loves to be active – an ideal Big would play sports, talk about movies (Liam’s favorites are The Iron Giant and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), play video games, and provide a listening ear about things that might bother him. Liam’s favorite subject in school is science and when he grows up, he dreams of being a content creator for YouTube.
