It’s been a long, dreary winter for us at Horror Movie Night, so you can forgive us for coming down with a case of CABIN FEVER (2002)…. We’re joining by Erik J. Brown, author of the new book “All That’s Left In the World” and Eli Roth enthusiast (ok not that part), who was kind enough to discuss this questionable piece of cinema history. Hope you’re hungry because we’ve serving up all-you-can-eat PANCAKES this week on the show!

Have you ever had a bad day? Sure, we all have. Has Daniel Powter’s 2005 hit “Bad Day” ever made that day better, or has it only served to make it that much worse? This week, we’re joined by rapper Lex the Lexicon Artist to answer this question and help us decide if this Canadian singer-songwriter deserved a few more good days on the Billboard charts.

This week on the show we get a little dark and discuss The Beatles infamous White album through Charles Manson’s crazy interruptions. We do our best to avoid discussing the crimes of Manson and instead only focus on how he twisted the lyrics of songs like Helter Skelter, Blackbird and Rocky Raccoon to make his cult do many awful crimes.

Episode 61 of The Bulletproof Podcast is all about Lady Dragon starring Cynthia Rothrock. Your hosts Chris the Brain and Chad Cruise are joined by special guest Chris DePetrillo from Figures Toy Company as they do a deep dive on Lady Dragon discussing Rothrock’s black wig, just how slimy Richard Norton was, the boy with no name, the grandfather with no voice and much, much more!

With The Batman coming to theaters this week we decided to check out the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Christmas With the Joker”.

Unfortunately Matt recorded over his end of the conversation and we had to rely solely on Dylan’s mic so this is a shorter episode with not the best audio but it’s still quite funny!

An Italian film, on THIS show? Has Hell frozen over? No, it’s just leaking some greasy evil turds into an apartment high rise and absolutely ruining Sally’s birthday! Unbelievable. How could Argento and Bava do this to her? That’s the real horror DEMONS 2 (1987), oh and running out of clean towels to fight K-Mart gremlins with.

Craig Mack’s “Flava In Ya Ear” was the first single released by Bad Boy Records in 1994. Despite the track’s success, his album was overshadowed by the massive hype behind labelmate Notorious B.I.G.’s debut record which was released only 7 days later. Mack was left in the shadows, but his story only gets crazier from there. We are joined by podcaster, rapper, and hip-hop fanatic Wordburglar to discuss why the late Craig Mack deserves more credit for his futuristic flow.

When you need to make 2 movies but only have the budget for 3/4 of one, you get busy on a Critters sequel that you can stretch into two! This week, we’re discussing the second half of this questionable film-making choice with 1992’s CRITTERS 4 (aka the one where they’re in space). It’s got Brad Dourif, Angela Bassett and that guy from SNDN3, how bad can it be? I guess we’re all going to find out as we blast off into another episode…

Wheatus bassist Matthew Milligan makes his third appearance on the show this week. Instead of going the usual route of discussing an artist he loves, he changed it up by choosing a band that he was unsure about. The Vines were once considered “the saviors of rock n’ roll” by some publications, but in a strange turn of events, at least one of these outlets later apologized for the delivering the crown so flippantly. Should we all have paid more attention to The Vines, or were we lucky to “Get Free” of them when we did? Stay tuned to find out.

It is the movie that introduced a generation of martial arts movie fans to Capoeira and it is the subject of Episod 60 of the Bulletproof Podcast. Of course we are talking about 1993’s Only the Strong starring Mark Dacascos and Geoffrey Lewis. The martial arts / at risk youth movie mash up has much to talk about… including the flip flopping principal, fire safety, the bug situation in South Florida and how it might impact one of the students more than the others, the similarities between Silverio and Razor Ramon, plus Chris and Chad take a moment to play “What if this was a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie?”

It’s Valentine’s Day so once again we’re talking Rom-Coms! This year we’re talking Just Friends … the iconic Ryan Reynolds/Amy Smart Christmas classic!

Most of us know Sebastian Stan as the dashing Winter Soldier, but fun fact, he’s also played a dashing warlock in the Renny Harlin abomination known as THE COVENANT (2006). The one and only Ashley V. Robinson of Geek History Lesson subjected us to this week’s abuse and we love her for it. Listen to find out how much money this movie made (a lot) and how much your hosts suck at mental math (also a lot). Harry Potter can kiss Toby Hemingway’s ass!

While the 90s were full of bands that got signed during the peak of grunge, few bands had the long history and the genre-bending talent of Cracker. The band first broke with their song “Teen Angst”, but it was “Low” that really delivered them into the ears of the mainstream. Our Patreon supporters wanted us to discuss this one, so we took a crack at it.

Producer Matt is back in the teacher role to educate us on one of the founding members of National Lampoon; Doug Kinney. Doug took the Harvard Lampoon and transformed it into the National Lampoon. From there he basically found all the talent that became the original cast of SNL and cowrote Animal House and Caddyshack!

What is the best depiction of the North Pole in pop culture? There’s been so many of so many different styles we’ve seen be it lonely isolation, full blown cities or weird castles in the sky. But which one is the best?!

In all of our years doing Horror Movie Night, we’ve never sat down to talk about a Hammer horror… Until now. This week, we’re cracking open the coffin and dusting the sand from a lovely disembodied hand with BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY’S TOMB (1971). Shockingly, this is but one of 4 screen adaptions of Bram Stoker’s “The Jewel of Seven Stars.” We’re guessing this is the best one because it stars two-time Bond Girl Valerie Leon!

Christian folk group Sixpence None The Richer had an unexpected mainstream explosion with their song “Kiss Me”, after it was featured in the 90s teen film “She’s All That”. Beyond a few low charting cover songs, however, they quickly fell out of the public consciousness. This week, we’re joined by Russ Burlingame – author of the new book “Best Movie Ever: The Oral History of Elfont & Kaplan’s Josie and the Pussycats” – to discuss the band whose music will always be associated with Rachael Leigh Cook.

This week we are joined by Jennifer Zhang, the filmmaker behind Charon who joins us to discuss the problematic history of Circus and Sideshow Freaks. It is both fascinating history as well as one full of inhuman treatment. Jennifer breaks down why she is both horrified by these stories but also relate to some of the plights they experienced in her own life.

On Episode 59 of The Bulletproof Podcast we travel to Absalom as Chris and Chad discuss 1994’s No Escape starring Ray Liotta, Lance Henriksen and Ernie Ladd. A unique entry in the prison action subgenre, No Escape gets some much needed love as Chris and Chad discuss the badassness of Ray Liotta’s Captain Robbins, Stuart Wilson’s eccentric Walter Marek and of course the greatness of Lance Henriksen!

This week we discuss the BBC series Ghosts (currently on HBO Max) and one of their Christmas episodes “He Came!” Matt discovered this show through his friend (and fellow listener) Lauren and Dylan’s never seen it before this moment; let’s see if he likes it!

Ever wondered what a 1950s nuclear family in modern suburbia but are really giant shapeshifting bugs movie would be like? Well wonder no more, because we’re talking about exactly that this week as we excavate MEET THE APPLEGATES (1990)! This one is as weird as it seems so you know there’s a lot to unpack… Join us for the absurdity on another episode of Horror Movie Night!

Few bands have ever been helped more by a music video than OK Go. They had faith in their own music when their record label didn’t, and they took advantage of internet virality to launch their career. Unique, eye-catching videos continue to be their thing, but the choreographed treadmill routine of “Here It Goes Again” will forever be the legacy of the band among people who only know them in passing. Is it worth going the extra mile to listen to more of their music though? Tune in to find out!
