Hot ladies! Cool tunes! Hairspray! Sand dunes! This week’s episode is one Scott has long awaited and finally found a copy to inflict upon his cohosts – VICIOUS LIPS (1986). Admittedly, this is a bad movie, but dang it’s got a lot to love in the first and third act… it’s just that pesky middle half hour with the killer alien chasing everyone around a spaceship that mucks up what could’ve been a cult classic. This is why humanity created the fast forward button (which is really an anachronistic joke since we all just click further in the stream anymore anyway). Let’s do space drugs and sing about lunar madness on this week’s episode of Horror Movie Night!

Look in the sky It’s a bird! It’s a Plane! No wait… we were right the first time. It’s a big bird? Of course Matt picked a black & White movie with a giant bird puppet. It’s almost like he wants to scare new co-host Kyle Kutcha off in the very first week. Tune in for us completely lambasting the insanity that is this movie and it’s weirdly appealing special effects.

This week we are joined by Katie Elsaesser of Geekscape who had us walk down memory lane to when Gnarls Barkley was an unavoidable force thanks to the inescapable single Crazy!

Episode 55 of The Bulletproof Podcast is in the holiday spirit as Chris the Brain, Chad Cruise and special guest Chris DePetrillo from Figures Toy Company look back at one of the more unsung Christmas action movies, The Long Kiss Goodnight starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. The tastefully done shower scene, dick guns, things that chefs really DON’T do, baby doll urine and how grenades actually work are among the talking points. Also, Chad goes against the spirit of the season and reveals a grudge he has with one of the cast members.

Usually we try to make November and December all about the stuff that really tickles the Christmas Traditions but when 8-Bit Christmas’ trailer came out we knew that we HAD to cover it on the show.

Sometimes with Roaring 20s there’s a plan for the conversation and other times we just follow a tangent and suddenly a half hour has passed. Today’s episode is more of the latter, we jump around between Smash Mouth, Trauma, Our Ideal Funerals, Brooke’s Bird Murder, Harry Potter Hot Takes and TV shows we can’t stand … all in under 30 minutes!

This week on the podcast we are joined by Mat Mania host and producer G1 to the Rescue. Today we are talking about those club nights listening to Tipsy by J-Kwon. We talk about our memories and history with the song and also go down a very strange tangent about Island Boys. This is sure to be an all time great!!

This week, we’re heading back to Camp Arawak to celebrate its rebranding (hello Camp New Horizons!) as we discuss Angela’s witty murder repartee in SLEEPAWAY CAMP III: TEENAGE WASTELAND (1989). We are joined by the delightfully wicked Jacki Giorgianni of the Jersey Ghouls and The List We Missed podcasts, who wears her love for this movie like a gory badge of honor. Come for the trust exercises, stay for the funerals!

This week on the show Chris Picks a song that Matt has never heard (which we all know is rare) with the R&B masterpiece Candy Rain by Soul 4 Real. This song had 8 different writers attached to it and helped blow up the group but unfortunately failed to match the popularity again.

It’s become a tradition around here for Scott to pick what we affectionately refer to as cannibal whoopsies to celebrate (?) Thanksgiving, and the honor this year was bestowed upon the strangely comedic RAVENOUS (1999). With a cast featuring Guy Pearce, Jeffrey Jones, Robert Carlyle and David Arquette, and a score composed by Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) of all people, one would think this movie wouldn’t have sunk into relative obscurity, but we’re here to rekindle that fire…and then cook people-stew over it. Let’s get stuffed!

Jeff Wendle joins us this week to discuss our first instrumental song because he didn’t want to pick Happy Birthday. We break down Vangelis’ Number 1 hit Chariots of Fire. The theme song unseated Joan Jett from the top of the charts and has been part of every Olympic montage since it’s release, but is it deserving of such high praise and accolades?

While Disneyland is still here today and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon; Gelsey sits down to educate us on the disastrous first day of Disneyland. It’s both a comedy of errors as well as in inspirational story of what happens when you push through the worst day of your life.

Somehow Dylan is not a Simpsons fan he is a huge fan of the first episode of the show; Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. Matt is a life long Simpsons fan and he’s kinda lukewarm on this special, it’s a weird episode y’all!

Keeping the weird pumping, we follow up suckling demons with the most crass, inscrutably British thing we’ve ever seen that also features Christopher Lee (and he had some wild movie credits, let us tell you) – 1994’s FUNNYMAN. Want to see an insane Punch and Judy show with gore and explosions and zero script, then we’ve got the perfect movie for you! For everyone else, come with us as we try to understand the how and why of this naughty mess. Bring your giant codpiece btw.

This week we are joined by Mike Meiers of Songwriting for Guitar to talk about the simplistic sounds of Gotye and his mega-hit “Somebody That I Used to Know”. While Gotye was massive in his home country of Australia; it was the only song to hit internationally; but should you know more of his work?

There can only be one Bulletproof Podcast about 1986’s Highlander and this is it… Join Chris and Chad as they talk about all things Highlander including The Fabulous Freebirds, the music of Queen, sword fights, scenes that didn’t need to be in the movie and the cast that included Christopher Lambert, the imposing Clancy Brown and the late, great Sean Connery.

In the Spring we talked about Happy Christmas Vol 1. Matt has us continue the conversation by discussing volume 2 as we kick off the Christmas Season officially with some of his favorite punk covers!!

This week we are joined by Meghan Meeker who is a die-hard Some Like It Hot fan. For close to an hour Gelsey and Meghan geek out about the film many consider to be the best comedy ever made. They break down behind the scenes, rumors and favorite moments. Sometimes they get so excited that they lose track of what they were saying but hey, nobody’s perfect.

Now that we’ve gorged ourselves on Halloween candy, it’s time to burn those infernal calories and waddaya know – Satan loves aerobic dance routines! This week, we’re joined by documentarian and horror paperback collector extraordinaire Kyle Kuchta, who inflicted the Empire Pictures headscratcher NECROPOLIS (1986) on us. We try valiantly to explain the plot and not freak out too much about the infamous suckling demons scene. It’s November, let’s get weird!

We are joined this week by Chris White and Daniel Smith to discuss the 80’s Christian Glam Rock act Stryper; but also to discuss their new movie Electric Jesus. The film follows some Christian teens in the 80’s who love Stryper so much they form their own band and go on tour. It’s streaming everywhere now and it’s a total must see!

In Episode 2 of the podcast it’s Producer Matt’s turn on the hot seat to discuss his obsessive love with The Muppets but specifically the 70’s variety show The Muppet Show. He discusses why the Muppets mean so much to him, remind him of his grandfather and shaped not just his sense of humor; but his sense of friendship.

We clocked in 50 episodes already so we decided to finally put the debt to rest once and for all and determine what’s the better Christmas Special … Peanuts or Emmett Otter

Then we talk about some of our favorite podcast memories

On November 1st, 1991 Wes Craven released his strangest and arguably the most disturbing film of his career … People Under the Stairs.

Horror Movie Night’s Matt Kelly breaks down why he’s loved this movie since the first time he watched it as well as the extreme social messaging that’s depressingly still relevant today.
