Hey Party People! One Hit Thunder back again. This week, the REAL tag team – myself and my co-host and producer Matt Kelly – jump in the ring with the massive stadium anthem “Whoomp (There It Is)”. The song never REALLY went away, but a recent resurgence thanks to an ice cream themed insurance commercial exposed this party classic to a whole new generation. Should Tag Team continue to repurpose this song in every possible way, or should the world be scooping into the rest of their almost impossible to find back catalog? Stay tuned to find out.

This week we are joined by Philly Wedding DJ and Quizzo Host A.J. Santini to discuss one of the most highly coveted songs in Al’s catalogue …. One More Minute. This ode to classic Doo Wop music is often considered one of Al’s strongest songs and cheapest music videos. We discuss if this was inspired by Billy Joel’s “An Innocent Man” as well as one of the rare times Al goes Blue in his lyrics.

We had some much fun hanging out in the super-saturated cinema of the millennium that we decided to stick around for another week and talk about our brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s uncle’s story of how one time he heard about someone at his high school who brought a hairless dog home that turned out to be a massive rat! Now we know what you’re going to say – that’s just an URBAN LEGEND (1998). Well, maybe, but can you prove it? Let’s see what Snopes has to say about this…

In 2010, a song by a ten-piece hippie folk pop group unexpectedly started appearing in seemingly endless amounts of movies, TV shows, and commercials. This sincere and lively tune caught the ear and heart of this week’s guest Tessa Markle, who later found herself dancing and singing along to them at an Arts Festival. The singsong love ballad leaves all of us asking what “home” really means, and if we should all be more hot and heavy pumpkin pie over Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.

Take a trip back in time to the days of Wicca, goth clubwear in regular clothing rotation, handheld digital camcorders and spiky bedhead hair matched with terrible chin patches. We’re stumbling around the woods looking for the BOOK OF SHADOWS: BLAIR WITCH 2 (2000)! This film seems to have the unnerving ability to make its viewers enjoy it more with each consecutive watch, so beware – you may end up listening to a lot of nu metal and asking Nature if you can pick up a leaf.

Phantom Planet had a modest radio hit with their single “California” in 2002. When a little TV show called The O.C. debuted and used the song as its theme song, however, it skyrocketed the band to stardom. The album The Guest was not just a favorite of this week’s guest Matt “Team Goldie” DiStefano, but it also had a permanent place in the CD rotation on early Punchline tours. When it came time for Phantom Planet to record a follow-up album, their shift in sound led to a slide off the charts. This week, we’re driving down the 101 and looking for the number one reason this great band didn’t reach even greater heights.

Last October we discussed the Tales from the Crypt episode of All Through The House; this week we return to the source material but this time in the 1972’s Tales from the Crypt film.

Kid: Mom can we have Addams Family?

Mom: We have Addams Family at home

Addams Family at home: The Munsters… in color.

In celebration of Rob Zombie’s new Munsters movie, Matt subjected his cohosts to THE MUNSTERS GO HOME (1966) this week, and while it wasn’t a painful watch, it felt more like an extended episode than a cohesive film. Let’s see how Rob’s version stacks up to it!

Break out the cherry wine and prepare to have your brain stimulated…we’re FINALLY taking a deep dive – or should we say SKINNY DIP – into Jermaine Stewart’s hit 1986 single “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off”! Does a man REALLY want to be approached cool and romantically? Should we REALLY take our time to get to know each other slow and easily? Should we all avoid showing up at Matt Kelly’s house unexpectedly? We’ll answer all these questions and more in this episode.

To kick off the spooky season we are watching the Twilight Zone Christmas special Night of the Meek. It’s also a great example of how Twilight Zone can sometimes be sweet and not always spooky.

This week we kick off the Dare to be Stupid album with returning guest Chris Fafalios. We breakdown the Weird Al Parody “Like a Surgeon”; this song was the first and possibly only time that Al took a parody concept from the artist he was parodying. It’s strange that Al never did another Madonna parody after this since it was such a success.

There’s a crisp wind in the air, the leaves are turning, you know what time it is… it’s FALL BREAK! After years of hemming and hawing about whether to discuss it, we’re slashing our way through THE MUTILATOR (1984) and dang we had a good time doing it. This is definitely one of the few times you’ll hear us heap praise on a kill comp but hey, we have a long weekend to drink cheap beer, do vaudeville for our girlfriends, and get chopped up in interesting ways. It’s Fall Break! Fall Break!

This week, we’re joined by Horror Movie Night co-host Kyle Kuchta to discuss Orgy, an industrial nu metal band that rose to fame thanks to a questionable cover of New Order’s 1983 classic “Blue Monday”. Was Kyle right to ask his parents for an Orgy poster for Christmas, or did his middle school newspaper make the right call in simply referring to them as “the opening band” on the 1998 Family Values Tour? Stay tuned to see how WE feel.

There’s a good chance that if someone mentioned the song “But It’s Alright” by J.J. Jackson, you would say “uh…how does that one go?”. The second you heard the iconic opening guitar riff, however, you’d undoubtedly say “Oh, OF COURSE I know this one!” This week, we’re joined by A.J. Santini to discuss this soulful 60s belter, and try to figure out why this big guy (285 pounds, to be exact, as made clear in the liner notes of his record) isn’t a bigger name.

If you miss the bad old days of painful listener submission episodes, you’re in luck because we watched an absolutely terrible movie that sort of has a werewolf in it for a minute or 2 but is mostly about honky tonk and the most somber line-dancing you’ve ever seen. We subjected ourselves to another Howling entry, this time THE HOWLING: NEW MOON RISING (1995), in which the director/lead actor of the last 2 tries desperately to connect the entire series into a cohesive timeline. Did he succeed? Perhaps, but at what cost? Our sanity hangs by a thread on this week’s show!
