Are we talking about a killer sandwich this week? No, that would be ridiculous! Instead, we’re talking about a killer sheet of music – way more believable. The absurd Italian offering PAGANINI HORROR (1989) kicks off with a murderous child and the most brazen Bon Jovi ripoff you’ve ever heard, so you know we had to visit this one. We’re killing it classically this week on a brand new episode of Horror Movie Night!

Would YOU walk ten miles on your hands and knees? Would YOU wrestle with a lion and a grizzly bear? No? Well, maybe you’re just not TUFF ENUFF for those types of activities. This week, we dive into the 1986 hit from The Fabulous Thunderbirds, a long-running blues band that scored a surprise hit, thanks in part to it being featured in a Michael Keaton film. The song has since been woven into the soundtracks of our lives, often being used in commercials, movies, TV shows, and blooper reels. And now, thanks to it being selected by our Patreon members, we’re going to TWIST IT OFF and learn some POWERFUL STUFF about the Thunderbirds.

Another week, another movie from 1993 – now with more dinosaur! We’re shoveling our mouths full of CARNOSAUR, and you may be saying to yourself, “Didn’t these jokers already do this movie?” No, but close… We did Carnosaur 2, also picked by Matt (anyone surprised?). The big difference between them is that this one is a ripoff of Alien and the sequel was a ripoff of Aliens. It’s an easy mistake!

At midnight on August 1st of 1981, MTV hit the airwaves. After an astronaut planted an MTV flag on the moon, viewers were immediately greeted by the opening notes of The Buggles’ prophetic anthem “Video Killed the Radio Star”. Today, we are joined by music critic and On A Related Note co-host Chris Dalla Riva to discuss this historic song, and if the pictures that came actually DID break his heart.

This week Dylan introduces Invader Zim into Matt’s life. While Matt always has been aware of the show and the characters this is his first experience ever watching the classic nick-toon series.

Due to a clerical error, Kyle gets back to back 1988 schlock with his pick of the slow burn Cronenberg classic DEAD RINGERS! There’s a serious ick factor in this one that sets it apart from last week’s bad decision, but this bad boy is CRITERION CERTIFIED so the scholarly speech flows freely. Get out your brandy snifters and weird medical instruments, it’s time to see double.

Filmmaker, director, and Valencia guitarist Brendan Walter was one of thirty-two students sued by the RIAA for downloading music while he was attending Drexel University, and we have to wonder if one of the songs he LimeWired was the 1996 Donna Lewis pop gem “I Love You Always Forever”. This Welsh artist took a nursery rhyme chorus and made Billboard history, which was clearly a magical time full of exotic sweetness that made an impact on Brendan as he laid under a blue sky with pure white stars.

If you’re a long time listener … you know it was Matt making Dylan listen to this. What we can tell you is that Happy Christmas might be the most emo Christmas album ever released.

This week we are HONORED to be joined by Paul Scheer. We have been die-hard fans of Paul for decades be it his podcast How Did This Get Made, his appearances on VH1 shows like I Love the 80s and Best Week Ever or his entire writing, acting and creating career with shows like Human Giant, The League and Children’s Hospital. Paul joined us this week to discuss Al’s George Harrison/Rudy Clark parody (This Song’s Just) Six Words Long and we deep dive into Al’s career and it’s influence on Paul’s work.

For our 400th episode we did something a little different, Instead of the usual podcast episode we recorded a live panel at Creature Feature Weekend in Gettysburg with our friends from Camp Nightmare, Jersey Ghouls and Christmas 365. It’s gonna be a wild ride!

Last week, we talked about kissing the rain. This week, The Weather Girls are letting us know that the rain is actually MEN! Our Patreon members voted that we should discuss this early 80s gay anthem, and we couldn’t wait to do so. Will we throw thunder on this duo that was formerly known as Two Tons O’ Fun? Stay tuned to find out how we feel about the powerful voices that brought us “It’s Raining Men”!

In a shocking turn of events, Kyle goes for the sleaze and we get our second Leif Garrett cross-dressing slasher in HMN history with PARTY LINE (1988). More of a sexy thriller than outright slasher, this one is perfect for undressing by the three disembodied voices of the show. Tell us what you’re wearing on another episode of Horror Movie Night…

If not for a problematic movie trailer, this week’s guest would have entirely forgotten the existence of a massive 1997 single from Billie Myers. This hit exploded onto the radio — perhaps from being utilized in the second season of Dawson’s Creek — before it quickly fell off the charts and disappeared. In this episode, filmmaker and Horror Movie Night co-host Kyle Kuchta asks us ALL to “Kiss the Rain”!

The world loves Bluey; Dylan and Matt are NO DIFFERENT. We decided to check out the Season 1 Christmas episode Verandah Santa and were completely and fully charmed.
