This week we are joined by one of Matthew Milligan’s oldest friends Phil Mazzullo who discusses the Oingo Boingo style parody You Make Me. Some people consider this one of the greatest in the Al discography but there are others who can not stand it! Listen to find out how we feel about it!

Due to a clerical error, Kyle gets back to back 1988 schlock with his pick of the slow burn Cronenberg classic DEAD RINGERS! There’s a serious ick factor in this one that sets it apart from last week’s bad decision, but this bad boy is CRITERION CERTIFIED so the scholarly speech flows freely. Get out your brandy snifters and weird medical instruments, it’s time to see double.

Filmmaker, director, and Valencia guitarist Brendan Walter was one of thirty-two students sued by the RIAA for downloading music while he was attending Drexel University, and we have to wonder if one of the songs he LimeWired was the 1996 Donna Lewis pop gem “I Love You Always Forever”. This Welsh artist took a nursery rhyme chorus and made Billboard history, which was clearly a magical time full of exotic sweetness that made an impact on Brendan as he laid under a blue sky with pure white stars.

This hit exploded onto the radio — perhaps from being utilized in the second season of Dawson’s Creek — before it quickly fell off the charts and disappeared. Tensions between Ryan and Oliver build after the gang goes on a weekend vacation with him.

This week we dive back into the music by discussing the 1988 smash hit Even Worse! This album kicks off with one of Al’s biggest hits Fat. We dive into the brilliance of the lyrics, the music video and debate if the song is an anthem of positive body image or potentially fat-phobic.

You may be wondering if we have already discussed this Critters movie but you’d only be half right – we tackled Critters 4 relatively recently, which shares some footage with this week’s pick as well as immediately follows it chronologically (plus they were filmed in tandem so there’s a ton of overlap). As we continue to work our way through the lesser sequels, Matt made us make a pit stop to hang with a young Leonardo DiCaprio in CRITTERS 3 (1991), a movie which none of us can be sure we’ve watched until we’re literally watching it and someone gets eaten. We make the most of it anyway because that’s how we roll on Horror Movie Night!

In 1991, Extreme released “More Than Words”, an acoustic love ballad unlike any of the band’s previous output. Although A&M Records didn’t want to release the song as a single, the band’s insistence paid off. The song shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and presumably resulted in a lot of babies named Nuno in years to come. This week, we’re joined by singer-songwriter Allie Goertz, and she’ll tell us how she feels (and if her love for Extreme is real!)

In our final 1987 TV appearance before next week when we dive into the fan favorite album EVEN WORSE we are discussing the final episode of Amazing Stories titled Miss Stardust. In this episode Al plays an alien named the Cabbage Man and it’s some of the wildest shit you’ve ever seen

There aren’t a whole lot of April Fools Day movies to choose from, but somehow we made it 8 years without discussing the movie named after the day and today we’re cracking open the safe and letting this one free! We finally discuss APRIL FOOLS DAY (1986) starring Deborah Foreman and Biff, aka Thomas F. Wilson, and while it’s difficult to accept the comparisons to Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None,” it’s still a fun little forgotten holiday slasher. It’s April Fools, everyone deserves a good laugh!
