You may be wondering if we have already discussed this Critters movie but you’d only be half right – we tackled Critters 4 relatively recently, which shares some footage with this week’s pick as well as immediately follows it chronologically (plus they were filmed in tandem so there’s a ton of overlap). As we continue to work our way through the lesser sequels, Matt made us make a pit stop to hang with a young Leonardo DiCaprio in CRITTERS 3 (1991), a movie which none of us can be sure we’ve watched until we’re literally watching it and someone gets eaten. We make the most of it anyway because that’s how we roll on Horror Movie Night!

In 1991, Extreme released “More Than Words”, an acoustic love ballad unlike any of the band’s previous output. Although A&M Records didn’t want to release the song as a single, the band’s insistence paid off. The song shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and presumably resulted in a lot of babies named Nuno in years to come. This week, we’re joined by singer-songwriter Allie Goertz, and she’ll tell us how she feels (and if her love for Extreme is real!)

There aren’t a whole lot of April Fools Day movies to choose from, but somehow we made it 8 years without discussing the movie named after the day and today we’re cracking open the safe and letting this one free! We finally discuss APRIL FOOLS DAY (1986) starring Deborah Foreman and Biff, aka Thomas F. Wilson, and while it’s difficult to accept the comparisons to Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None,” it’s still a fun little forgotten holiday slasher. It’s April Fools, everyone deserves a good laugh!

Since the 25 Year Anniversary of the cinematic classic Beetlejuice is this month we decided to watch the closest thing to a Beetlejuice Christmas tie-in which is the It’s a Wonderful Life parody they did on the cartoon. OR IS IT THE MOST CHRISTMASY BEETLEJUICE CONTENT!?

While we may have finally broken out of our 1993 time loop, it feels like we’ve both shot forward to the present date and been dragged back to the late 70s as we discuss evil corporations dumping chemicals into waterways that are detrimental to all life! Are we talking PROPHECY (1979) or the East Palestine OH train disaster? Well, one is far less scary and has a mutant bear in it, so you decide. Grab your down-filled, pee yellow sleeping bag and hunker down for another episode of Horror Movie Night!

Never have our minds been as blown on One Hit Thunder as when we dove into the life and career of Michael Penn. From his famous siblings to his work on landmark films, Michael’s story couldn’t be further from the norm. But don’t even THINK about throwing the “nepotism” accusation around here…Penn is the real deal. This week, we dive into his catalog and discover that it’s NO MYTH that Michael Penn is undeniable thunder.

For the past 2 months, we have been cursed to stay in 1993 but it looks like our luck is turning around this week – we found a shamrock AND a gold coin! Warwick Davis has got to be nearby, waiting to tell us some dirty limerick. In honor of St. Paddy’s and to celebrate leaving 1993 behind, we’re discussing the surprisingly tame (and low-budget) LEPRECHAUN, which had all of us waiting for kills that don’t happen until subsequent entries in the series. Ah well, at least our shoes got polished.

Hello, fellow slobs! This week, we’re diving into Joan Osborne and her inescapable 1996 hit, “One of Us”. Written on a whim by Eric Bazilian of The Hooters, the song asks important questions about a supposed higher power, including “if God had a face, what would it look like?” Well, WE’D speculate that he or she MIGHT look like this week’s guest…Meeting Of Important People’s Josh Verbanets! Will we put thunder on Joan’s name, or would we rather she remain a stranger on the bus tryin’ to make her way home? Stay tuned to find out.

This week Matt has Dylan listening to another Punk Rock Christmas album but this time it’s NOT from Tooth & Nail Records (for once). Instead it’s filled with classic songs from Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, New Found Glory, Something Corporate and many many more!

We’re taking a few weeks before we dive into Even Worse to check out some of Al’s Television Appearances between 1986 and 1987 and we’re starting with the almost totally forgotten special “Weird Al’s Guide to the Grammys”

As far as we can tell this was aired only once and if not for someone who uploaded it to YouTube it would have been lost to the sands of time! Look it up, watch it and enjoy our thoughts!!!

There must be a glitch in the Matrix because we are STILL stuck in 1993 and now there’s a guy turning our household gadgets against us! We’re battling a real GHOST IN THE MACHINE this week, and it already ruined our microwave dinner. What we need is a tech-savvy preteen and a disgraced middle-aged hacker to save the day… Hope we can find one before the Address Book Killer gets to our entry!

Local H carved out a niche for themselves in the mid 90s, landing somewhere in between grunge and indie rock. The hypnotic single “Bound For The Floor” was a Gen X anthem, cleverly using the word “copacetic” to exhibit a feeling of dissatisfaction with life. This two-piece band made a lasting impression on this week’s guest — Wells, Maine’s own Spose — even if this particular single wasn’t the reason why.
