We are so, so excited to be announcing this.

San Diego Comic-Con has not even started yet, and the Geekscape team is down in San Diego preparing to bring you some HUGE coverage of some of the hottest events, movies, comic books, and more from the show floor.

But that’s this week, and as excited as we are to be experiencing Comic-Con once again, we’re always looking forward to the future.

Naturally, Nintendo and Niantic’s Pokémon Go is ruling most of our lives (and the entire world) right now. Heck, I’m just as excited to be in San Diego catching different Pokémon than I’d see in Vancouver, as I am to see the sights that Comic-Con brings this year. So that future that we’re looking toward? The TurnStyle and Geekscape Pokémon Go meet up in New York on August 5th.

This is an ALL AGES event that will run from 5-9PM on Friday, August 5th. There will be music, discounts and deals specifically for Pokémon players at TurnStyle’s retail and dining locations, limited edition collectable giveaways and exclusive Pokémon tips and tricks from some of the best players in the industry. Of course, there will also be ever-handy Lures placed all over.

We really can’t wait to see this event come to life. Jonathan will be there in the flesh, and you’ll probably see other notable Geekscapists like Eric Francisco, BigYanks, and more! Jonathan is beyond excited for the opportunity, noting that “I’m thrilled to be partnering with TurnStyle to host a Pokémon Go Meet Up in August. As a huge Pokémon Go player myself I can’t wait for my friends in the gaming community, Pokémon themed cosplayers and also casual mobile gamers to get together and catch Pokémon in New York’s coolest underground shopping and dining experience. We have some fun things planned for fans of the game.”

TurnStyle is New York City’s leading lifestyle hub, an underground marketplace proving that there is an upside to down. Located within a completely renovated 325-foot-long passageway leading from 57th Street and Eighth Avenue to the subway platforms, TurnStyle has reimagined the subway experience by creating a Main Street-esque destination under Columbus Circle. With 39 local small businesses, nationally recognized brands and rotating pop-ups from designers, artisans and artists, TurnStyle brings choice, convenience and a modern, clean design to the 90,000+ daily commuters who frequent this Midtown Manhattan destination. From hats to flowers, dumplings to doughnuts, cell phone cases to sunglasses, and much more in between, TurnStyle brings a unique and accessible selection to change the commuting experience.

We still have a few weeks until this event takes place, and if it’s physically possible for you to show up, we want you there. If you can’t make it, be sure to share with your friends and Pokémon Go team members, so that we can make the TurnStyle and Geekscape Pokémon Go Meet Up the best. meet up. ever.

Any questions? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and we’ll see you under Columbus Circle on August 5th! Are you excited? We’re SO excited.

Geekscape is returning to NYCC… and we want to hang out!

We’ll be walking the Javits Center and getting into trouble during the day, but at night, it’ll be time to get together, take a load off and catch up! So why not meet some of your fellow Geekscapists? Maybe our Charlie Day look alike will return!

I know NY natives Eric Francisco and Big Yanks will be there!

Here are the details:

Friday, October 10th!

We are meeting at Lansdowne Road! They’re a few blocks North of the Con, a short walk or shorter taxi ride!

599 10th Ave  New York, NY 10036

Check out their menu (it’s affordable and good).

Dinner – 7pm (everyone handles their own tab)

Hanging Out – 8pm and on!

Perhaps we will find that mysterious nameless Geekscapist again this year… Last year, he regaled Big Yanks and I with his stories of geekdom and growing up as a Geekscapist… and then left into the night, never to be seen again…

If you’re going to NYCC 2013 (like we are), let’s meet up!

Sure, there’ll be plenty of things going on at the Javits Center during the day, but what about meeting some of your Geekscapists for dinner and a hang out once the Con ends?
