A New ‘God Of War’ Title Is In Development!

During a God Of War retrospective panel at the Playstation Experience event this weekend, the creative director of Sony Santa Monica, Cory Balrog, confirmed that a new God Of War is currently in development! Sadly, this is all we’re likely to hear for a long while.

According to Balrog, the game isn’t coming out anytime soon, saying he should be able to discuss details, “within a year or two.” Whether or not Sony will actually stay true to these comments now that the cat is out of the bag is doubtful, but either way, don’t expect to jump back into Ancient Greece for a long, long while.

It’s not surprising at all that a new God Of War title would find its way back to shelves, considering its popularity, (regardless of the fact that it was supposed to be a trilogy,) and the bad taste the inferior Ascension left in our mouths. But how much story is there left to tell? After the ending of GOW3, Kratos essentially killed everyone and everything. Could this be another prequel? (Please, no…) Or maybe a reboot? Teenage, rebellious Kratos incoming!

Watch A New Trailer For ‘God Of War: Ascension’

In two week’s time, the next chapter in the God of War franchise will launch on the Playstation 3. Sony today released a new trailer for the game, and just like every God of War before it, Ascension looks bad-ass.

 

Watch the new trailer below, and let us know what you think! God of War: Ascension hits shelves on March 12th. Tonight’s PSN update also features a demo of the title, so you can give it a shot before you decide if it’s worth your hard-earned cash!

‘God Of War’ Movie Gets New Writers

It looks like this week we are getting a whole bunch of news announcing video games being adapted into movies. If you don’t know much about ‘God Of War’ the game followed the battles of the Spartan warrior Kratos, who squares off against mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra in his quest to find Pandora’s Box and destroy Ares, the god of war.

With the financial success of movies such as ‘Wrath Of The Titans’ and ‘Immortals’ it was only a matter of time until a studio put this one into motion. David Self,who is exec producing, wrote the initial draft and now Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have been hired to re-write the script for the upcoming movie. The writing team has written four of the six ‘Saw’ movies and the upcoming ‘Pacific Rim’.

Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing via Atlas Entertainment.

Now the big question is…who could play Kratos?
