Welcome to a new decade Mat Maniacs. Annnnd…. It is already a little spicy! The boys toast the new years with a shot of Skrewball’s Peanut Butter Whiskey (it’s fire). A quick recap of the holidays and who got what as gifts takes place and then the wrestling talk begins!!

We start it off with NJPW and we wanna say thank you Jushin Thunder Liger! Thank you for all that you have done for the sport of professional wrestling. Talk then moves over to AEW. How many people thought Mox joined the Inner Circle? Now on to the WWE!!!!

Congratulations to Andrade & Charlotte on their new engagement. We also witnessed the biggest return of the decade with the appearance of The Big Show joining the new tag team of Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe.

What’s big and green and will kill you with hand grenades? No guesses? It’s Swamp Thing, the hero this wildly-inaccurate comic book adaption/sequel, RETURN OF SWAMP THING (1989)! While we love Jim Wynorski on the show, this one is a hard one to swallow, at least for Scott, who is an absolute Swamp Thing superfan. If you want explosions, we got em. If you want sex jokes, we got em! If you want rubber-suit monsters, well, baby, we got em! Get reborn the bayou this week on Horror Movie Night!

This week on the show Julie is joined by Geek History Lesson’s Ashley Victoria Robinson to discuss her favorite episode of MAS*H “The Check-Up”. While the show wasn’t up Julie’s alley it made her nostalgic for the shows she would have watched with her Grandfather while Ashley wears her fandom on her sleeve by telling us that she named her iPhone after a character on the show.

Bulletproof Action’s resident Star Wars super fan, Ryan Campbell joins Chris The Brain and Chad Cruise as they discuss their thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker, pitch some ideas for more Star Wars related series on Disney+, question if Colt 45 does in fact work every time, plus the mandatory Baby Yoda talk. All this and Ryan Campbell is put in front of the Star Wars trivia firing squad!

Do you like summer camp slashers? Are you so hard up for your horror fix that you’ll watch literally anything even remotely similar to Friday the 13th? Well then you’re in luck, because we got you covered with this week’s absolute snoozer of a flick, BLOODY MURDER 2: CLOSING CAMP (2003)! While it may say it was filmed in ’03, the clothes and hair of the “actors” involved screams 1999, so if you were in high school at that time, get a couch cushion ready to cover your awkward nostalgia boner. This one was another pick weaponized by Brian, and required us to do a movie pick intervention afterwards. Suffer with us once again on Horror Movie Night!

You voted and we responded. Wrapping up the year that was 2019 we watch a movie released in 1990 that was reflecting on the 60’s… CRY-BABY. John Waters released one of his most mainstream films packed with rock-a-billy songs, awkward kissing and Johnny Depp at his Johnny Dreamiest. Join us on the film episode of HORROR MOVIE NIGHT (where we don’t talk about a Horror Movie).

On Episode 4 of the Bulletproof Podcast, your hosts Chris The Brain and Chad Cruise are joined by Todd Gaines as they countdown the Top 10 movies produced by beloved schlockmeisters, Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus. Who takes the top spot on the Cannon Countdown? Chuck Norris? Sho Kosugi? Michael Dudikoff? Sylvester Stallone? Dolph Lundgren? Charles Bronson? Speaking of Bronson, was Todd really foolish enough to insult Bronson in the presence of CTB!?! Finally… The Cannon celebration continues when Chad and Todd compete in a Cannon Quotes Contest!

MatManiacs it is that magical time of the year and we are here to look back on the year in wrestling!!!  We even have a very special guest in the building  as the lead booker Mega Ran aka The Randalorian returns to the illustrious DigiLabs arena!  Amongst catching up  the boys collectively put the pod over as well as share some love for our family and fans.

The boys then begin to break down the year in Wrestling and all share their favorite moments, matches and wrestlers of the year.

2019 was a hell of a year and we thank each and everyone of you for riding with us each and every week! We promise to keep giving you the very best in wrestling, hip-hop, movies and everything in between in 2020. Oh and of course 2020 we will continue to give you ROK’S Snack of the Week!!! Speaking of snacks before closing out the episode  the boys reveal who is joining Nia Jax in the snack of the year ranks and we are happy to announce that the 2019 Snack of The Year goes to the beautiful Ma. Dani Fernandez (@msdanifernandez)

Peep Ran’s newest joint here: https://youtu.be/1AktyAqsHX0

We will be back back in two weeks with another all new episode, until then merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the MatMania Crew!!!

The not so secret Santa edition!

We are still live from Digilabs and we got gifts!!!!  The not so secret Santa gift exchange happens and the boys continue catching up and talking about a little bit of this and a a little bit of that!

As is HMN Christmas tradition, we are taking a slight break from the usual picks and getting festive with some ghosts, desiccated corpse bosses, and a whole lotta yelling; we’re talking SCROOGED (1988)! Matt strong-armed us into this one, since apparently it would be frowned upon to just do Batman Returns every Christmas like a true American. It could be worse, your lip could be gushing blood (thanks to Carol Kane ripping your frenulum)!

There’s no gag left behind when screenwriter and film critic Mark Palermo joins Wordburglar to find out if they still like the 1988 spoof-tacular “THE NAKED GUN: FROM THE FILES OF POLICE SQUAD”.

It’s another enlightening and entertaiing episode of Do You Still Like this Movie? Part of the Geekscape Podcast Network!

And if you want more Wordburglar check out our cousin podcast “Weekend At Burgie’s”.

G1 – FL Studio

Teek – Watchmen on HBO.

ROK – Gordon Ramsey’s uncharted on Disney +

It’s a triple threat tonight on the Mat Mania Podcast. Enjoy the rants and laughs from Roknowledge, Teek Hall and g1totherescue as they breakdown their holiday plans before switching gears.  The boys talk the recent releases of Luke Harper, Sin Cara and The Ascension.  Who will make an impact elsewhere ? A couple superstars were popped for wellness violations and ROK’S Asks the question of whether or not your status in the company protects you from violations. ROK also reveals the finalists for the 2019 snack of the year, who will join our Queen Nia Jax’s in the Snack Alumni?  Find out next week!

In closing the boys pay their respects to Juice WRLD who passed away this past weekend.  Prayers and condolences to his family, friends and fans.

Listen, if you dig up the corpse of the guy who terrorized and traumatized you as a kid, stick an iron rod in his chest that then gets struck by lightning, reanimating said corpse, you might not want to try your hand at gambling. You may have noticed today’s date, which informed Matt’s pick this week, the immortal JASON LIVES (1986), one of the most enjoyable entries in the Friday the 13th franchise. If you were unimpressed with the fire circle in Octaman, Tommy Jarvis has a much more impressive one and it’s on a freakin lake… Jump in, the water is crystal clear!

This week Julie is joined by Chrissy a die-hard Good Place fan who breaks down all the reasons you should be watching this amazing show. Spoiler Alert in effect though as there are major spoilers to the twists and turns of this series and we REALLY recommend watching it first.

On Episode 3 of the Bulletproof Podcast, Chris and Chad are joined by actor/filmmaker Michael Worth. Michael discusses a book he is working on , Martial Art: A Pictorial History of Bruceploitation Posters. The guys discuss 1995’s Fist of Iron that Michael starred in. Michael has plenty of behind the scenes stories to share about the film and Chris shares a sad story about his Fist of Iron poster, but is there still time for that story to have a happy ending? All this and more on Episode 3 of the Bulletproof Podcast!

Norman Bates, the killer whose origin was never really necessary to be told in-depth, but here we are, having watched and discussed a whole movie about it, PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINNING (1990). Brian’s picks are often inscrutable, and this one is the very definition of the word; his catchphrase really sells this one: “Well, it’s a movie.”

It’s the Roc in the building!!!! Throw up that Diamond Cutter! Bang! Thank you once again for

joining us for another episode. Welcome back ROK! To start ROK recaps his trip to Vegas to catch Little Brother!  We then get it going with the Put Over Segment.

Now for some wrestling!!!!

How’s the WWE doing?   RAW & Smackdown continue to deliver some solid matches with some storyline shenanigans in the mix as well.  We did see the Kabuki Warriors take down the Queen Charlotte Flair.  Over on Smackdown The New Day defeated Shinsuke and Cesaro in a great match.   League of Nations 2.0???

Before wrapping things up the boys send love and positive vibes over to Mauro Ranallo who made a triumphant return to the NXT broadcast table Wednesday night!  ROK says Mauro is the best in the business today….what do you think???

Snack of the Week: Jodie Turner-Smith

Burial of the Week: Corey Graves

Support your local wrestling!!!

Hello once again Mat Maniacs we are back! We hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all of you and your continued support. We catch up a little bit and take the time to put over HeelTurn! – Marc Summers . Please be sure to support our friend Marc Summers @marcsummersh20 on Twitter, and @heelsummerson Instagram.

Thanksgiving season is Survivor Series Season, but we know NXT Takeover War Games was the winner. Especially Keith Lee and Rhea Ripley thank you so much. You two made sports entertainment really feel like pro-wrestling.

We are also thankful for our friends @thesteelcagefor being the Chucky T to our Trent B. Thank you so much. We look forward to making more memories with you guys.

AEW is still staying strong with Le Champion. Is AEW now catching up with building the storylines? It feels like AEW is still finding their footing; however, the wrestling is always solid. Stay tuned for more to come.

If you were wondering whether we’re tired of meta horror yet, here’s your answer: nope! Matt chose a real banger this week, the alien-frog-with-laser-eyes romp THERE’S NOTHING OUT THERE (1992). There are punks, bros, hot ladies, skinny-dipping, a ridiculous monster with even more ridiculous weaknesses, and even a boom mic getaway. This one is a cult classic for a reason, and it’s save to say it checks all of the HMN boxes!

This Thanksgiving, it’s not just animal carcasses that will be served up… We are re-discussing the delightful holiday slasher BLOOD RAGE (1987), once a lost episode, but now a new conversation on quite possibly the only Thanksgiving horror movie out there (we don’t acknowledge Thankskilling round these parts). Let our gravyboat voices moisten your mashed potato ears as your prepare a feast for your loved ones, but be careful, that’s not cranberry sauce!

This week Julie is joined Jenny who picked the episode CharDee MacDennis from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They discuss why Charlie is a perfect character, the parts of growing up in Philly that aren’t always sunny and if they’d ever want to play this crazy and frankly dangerous game.

Put-overs:

Teek – Chappelle’s Show

G1 – Disney+

MMP’s very own Hero & Villain, G1ToTheRescue & Teek Hall take you through this week in pro wrestling and recap crazy moments from Raw, Smackdown & NXT!

Also the gang recapped day one of the 6th Annual Arizona Hip Hop Festival with performances from some of the best and brightest including our very own Mega Ran

We see a lot of amazing creature designs and practical effects on HMN, so sometimes it’s nice to take a step back and see our SFX heroes’ humble beginnings…like the ridiculously dumb Rick Baker monstrosity, OCTAMAN (1971)! More or less a lower-budget, less skilled retelling of the Creature From the Black Lagoon (written by the same guy), this one is 100% due to its moment of glory in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, so thanks for that, Brian. Between the three of us, we only have 6 arms to fight Octaman’s 8, wish us luck!
