It may be argued which HMN host loves Halloween the most, but this week, the crown goes to Scott, who picked a movie that actually occurs on Halloween, on top of featuring an insane amount of goop, head trauma, and topless 25 year old high schoolers. You know NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 (1994) is a good time (except for one scene) based on that description alone, so head over to Hull House with ya boys this October and let the holiday spirit possess you!

Most of us know the song from it’s iconic appearance in Reservoir Dogs but Stealer’s Wheel’s Stuck in the Middle of You has a super interesting history as well as the band themselves. We are joined by Punchline manager Jim Logrando to talk about the song, the bands refusal to play live and why Clowns should make a comeback as an insult.

For the next 4 weeks we’re gonna have some returning favorites to talk about their favorite Halloween specials and we couldn’t not kick it off with our podcast best friend Gelsey.

Gelsey joined us to discuss the 30 Rock episode Stone Mountain which is just barely a Halloween special but it’s a hilarious episode so we will take it!

Holy shit, we’re finally talking CHUD (1984) with the Podfather himself, Jonathan London of Geekscape fame! After years of begging, groveling and guilt tripping, Jon has decided to discuss this delightfully silly cult classic. Brian is especially happy about this, because he doesn’t have to talk at all when Jon’s around. He’s about as elusive as the plot of this movie, see if you can follow him!

We’re joined by Philly Rapper and former front man for Roots In Stereo Khalil Slaughter to discuss the fire beat that is Rich Boy’s Throw some D’s. Unfortunately there’s no much else to remember about this song (minus an awkward lyric about a picture on the wall).

Listener Submitted Month wraps up with one of Matt’s favorite movies. We couldn’t have a listener submitted month without the unofficial 4th host Kyle Kuchta. Matt saw this at a drive in and thinks that makes him special. We dive into Dean Koontz’s novelization, this extremely slow burn film and how amazing the last 15 minutes of this movie is.

We’re not HVAC guys, but we’re pretty sure most apartment buildings don’t have air ducts big enough for a full-grown man to skateboard on his stomach through, and yet, here we are, watching THE Klaus Kinski do just that. We’re talking CRAWLSPACE (1986) this week, and are joined by Joey Pettine of the fantastic Dark Hills Events; Dark Hills is a horror live action roleplaying company that creates immersive events where you get to try surviving your favorite horror movies! He’s also a great guy and friend of the show, and has an odd love for Klaus Kinski, the once-great Nosferatu in Werner Herzog’s adaptation… who plays a Nazi scientist who kills his tenants in order to feel alive in this movie. It’s a weird one for sure!

This week we are joined by Leanor “Jeff the Girl” Ortega Till of Five Iron Frenzy. Chris and Leanor break down the catchy Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant; the song recently was in the news for being another song Trump has used against an artists wishes. We also dive into this songs origins are about race based riots in the UK, how Eddy Grant created his own genre and an amazing story of Five Iron Frenzy’s tour in South Africa.

At the start 2020 we released an episode breaking down how much we loved Disney+’s original series High School Musical the Musical the Series. Never did we expect that 9 months later we would be sitting down with one of the stars who WOWed us with her performance of the song Wondering.

We were thrilled to get to talk to Julia Lester about her iconic role of Ashlyn, the friendships behind the scenes, her favorite TV shows and meeting Hillary Duff

The Craig R. Baxley retrospective continues on Episode 22 of The Bulletproof Podcast as Chris The Brain, Chad Cruise and Ryan Campbell examine 1990’s I Come in Peace starring Dolph Lundgren and Matthias Hues. The amazing instincts of Dolph’s Detective Jack Caine, an Endorphin loving alien, a vacation loving medical examiner and a crime boss who never gets his comeuppance are among the talking points in this episode.

Why, listeners… why do you torment us with these garbage movies? I guess it’s partially our fault for choosing this from the submissions, but we’re not very good at taking responsibility for our lives and so we’re going to heap the blame on you as we talk about the painfully boring MY MOM’S A WEREWOLF (1989), starring a toe-sucking, hairy-backed John Saxon! We’re joined this week by 91 Donkey Lane cohost and comedian Robert Bacon, who for some reason decided not to bring an enchanted bauble to alleviate the pain of watching this movie, but at least he’s funny (and doesn’t look like an incel, we promise). If most werewolf movies are puberty analogies, this must be a menopause analogy, but that part of the script may have been lost.

This week we are joined by Mikey D’Angelo who wanted to talk about the forgotten Freedy Johnston hit Bad Reputation. Chris and Mikey dive into how perfect 1995 was for music, How this music is weirdly appropriate for a pool party and how insane it was that in 1994 Johnston was named Songwriter of the year.

Kathleen is easily the top 5 Jane the Virgin fans in the world so you know that we’ve got an extra long episode breaking down all 100 episodes of the series because Producer Matt and Julie have both watched it now as well.

This one is DEFINITELY not recommended for folks who haven’t watched it yet but you’re in luck; it’s on Netflix and it’s incredible. You’re welcome!

Hey! Do you like the Leprechaun movies? You do? Cool, you still probably won’t enjoy this week’s pick, 1995’s pointless RUMPLESTILTSKIN! But at least we have our good friend Steven Bay of Analog Jones & the Temple of Film fame with us to talk about small killers, obsessions with dead media, and how he’s marrying someone who loves GREASE 2. Rev your motorcycle engine, cuz Rumplestiltskin is a coooooooooool rider!

Podcaster/Musician Will Carey joined us this week to talk about the weird career for wanna be Beatlemania group The Click Five and their song Just the Girl. This hit song was the highest charting song written by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne but after all the success they never had another hit and quietly broke up a few years later. Will and Chris discuss if the band is worth diving deeper into or if their hit was a fluke worthy of forgetting.

The Bulletproof Podcast is spotlighting the directorial efforts of Craig R. Baxley in the month of September, beginning with Baxley’s first film 1988’s Action Jackson! Join Chris The Brain, Chad Cruise and special guest Chris DePetrillo from Figures Toy Company as they discuss this action classic starring Carl Weathers, Vanity and Craig T. Nelson. Plus, the guys talk Dollar Tree finds, action figures and more!

Another week, another obscure “Troma Presents” movie picked by Matt – this time, it’s the inextricable MONSTER IN THE CLOSET (1986)! We couldn’t get enough of young Paul Walker during TAMMY & THE T-REX, so we took a deeper dive with this one, in which a rubber suit monster with no backstory falls in love with K-Mart Clark Kent and dies trying to find a closet in which to consummate its desires. Think we’re joking? Listen and find out!

After a night of Buffalo Chicken, Beers and friendship Julie and Kathleen binged Season 1 of Laguna Beach in a singular night. Then they sat down and recorded through thoughts and feelings all these years later. In fact they did it twice; it was absolutely no one’s fault but the audio was lost on the first recording. But enjoy Take 2
