This week we are joined by Producer Matt’s Horror Movie Night Cohost Scott Roger to discuss the sound of 1999 that is Lit’s My Own Worst Enemy. Beyond the nostalgia the song holds, Chris just produced a podcast with the brothers who wrote the song and gives us a few fun facts about the song while they try to determine if the song is a masterpiece or if the critics in 1999 were right all along.

We’re stoked to welcome back podcast Diva Marie Maloney of the Adam Sandler Please Stop podcast who kicks off our Holiday month with the classic TV Special John Denver & The Muppets: A Christmas Together!

We are joined by Muppet Expert (aka nerd) Producer Matt who tries and fails to keep his passion for the muppets from dominating the conversation. But when he’s quiet we’re able to talk about Marie’s childhood connections with the special, our favorite Christmas songs and Adam Sandler’s next movie project.

Thanks for listening!!!

In typical HMN fashion, we decide to drop a Friday the 13th episode 2 weeks after a Friday the 13th, but it’s ok because the franchise has barely made sense since the 4th installment and JASON GOES TO HELL (1993) barely has any Jason in it anyway. It may be Black Friday and you’re still stuffed from Thanksgiving, but make some room for Jason’s rotted heart special since it’s not like you have a choice in the matter.

Another Cheetah’s Johnny Yetsconish joins us to talk about possibly the greatest one hit wonder of all time? Barely Breathing by Duncan Sheik. Chris and Johnny discuss their long time love of the song and Chris gives us a behind the scenes story of how a Duncan Sheik deep cut inspired a Punchline song.

Another Cannon classic is covered as our one year anniversary celebration continues with a discussion about 1985’s American Ninja. Join Chris The Brain, Chad Cruise and Chris DePetrillo as they talk about the role that made Michael Dudikoff an action star and how his character Joe Armstrong was kind of an a-hole, plus the different possible pronunciations of Guich Koock, Chad does a Tadashi Yamashita impersonation and some action figure talk.

Welcome to Christmas 365’s Debut Episode!!!

This week Matt introduces Dylan to his favorite modern Christmas movie (and a strong contender for his favorite Christmas movie ever) with 2019’s Let It Snow! The film was released on Netflix with almost zero attention paid to it but the film is a complete 90’s throwback feeling more like a holiday themed Empire Records or Can’t Hardly Wait.

Lucky for Matt, Dylan also loved the movie and two spend the time discussing the finer aspects of the film and it’s overall top notch comedic beats as well as the stellar soundtrack and genuine heart-felt moments.

We try to keep it topical here on HMN, so this Thanksgiving we’re going to really just beat you over the head with Scott’s lifestyle choices as we discuss the phenomenal cult classic MOTEL HELL (1980). We discussed this way back in the first iteration of the podcast, but watching the fresh Blu-ray remaster really elevates everything beyond 80s nostalgia and splatter. As we all know, meat’s meat and man’s gotta eat, so dig in and happy Thanksgiving!

Tony Hartman returns to the podcast to discuss Crazy Town’s Butterfly. They discuss the voting habits of Shifty Shellshock, the insane Flea bass-line and the overly horny lyrics.

We tossed Producer Matt back on the mic this week to discuss his favorite episode of That 70’s Show. While the episode itself is typical sitcom plotting, Matt has a passionate love for it due to a nostalgic connect the show (and this specific episode) bring out of him. Julie remembers watching it as a child too but can Kathleen’s hatred of Topher Grace get pushed to the side this week? Listen and find out.

You ever get roped into watching a movie you think you’re going to hate by that friend who always makes you watch questionable content? This week’s movie is just like that, except the film in question is actually pretty damn good! We’re talking 1987’s MY BEST FRIEND IS A VAMPIRE, and it took all of 2 minutes of runtime to charm at least one of Matt’s cohosts with a wet dream ripped right from his adolescence. This one deserves some more eyes on, so crack open a Bloodweiser and wear your sunglasses at night because it’s… well, you know what it is…

Trevor Leonard returns to the podcast to discuss the hippies of the Grunge scene Blind Melon. It’s very possible that if Shannon Hoon hadn’t died so tragically young that the band would have had many more hits but unfortunately we only got 2 albums, an iconic video and a truly insane Woodstock 94 performance to remember them by.

The Bulletproof Podcast has been “on the air” for one year and we will be celebrating all November long. Part 1 of our One Year Anniversary Celebration takes a look back at Death Wish 3 starring the legendary Charles Bronson. Join your hosts Chris The Brain and Chad Cruise as they are joined by Chris DePetrillo from Figures Toy Company to discuss the Cannon classic.

Brian must really dislike his cohosts, because he seems to only pick movies that inflict mental anguish on them, and this week is no except – 1974’s made-for-TV BAD RONALD. Not quite the typical Hallmark Movie of the Week fodder, it’s still painfully tame and slow, and Matt and Scott are wondering if they need to take away Brian’s ability to pick movies to discuss, as he obviously cannot be trusted with this kind of power.

One of producer Matt’s best friend is Kyle Kuchta. Kyle is a filmmaker from Connecticut who’s made some incredible documentaries about horror movies. However he also is a huge fan of Trashy TV and joined us this week to talk about Sister Wives.

There are no real blow-ups like most trash TV and that almost makes it weirder and worse than the average Trash TV series.

Amok amok amok! It’s finally the best day of the year (Halloween, ya goobers) and we’re continuing the HMN tradition of discussing a kid-friendly movie for the holiday with the one and only HOCUS POCUS (1993). One of your hosts is a wet blanket, but the fire of enthusiasm burns white hot in the other 2, which is more than enough to keep the Black Flame Candle alight until sunrise. Compliment our yabbos while you’re at it, why dontcha?

Brooke is back to the show to discuss Parks & Recreation. This is the 3rd time we’ve discussed the show on this podcast. We break-down the Halloween Party themed episode Meet N Greet in which Ben and Andy fight, Tom ruins Leslie’s Meet N Greet by being Tom and Ron teaches Ann how to fix a sink. However you wouldn’t know that by listening to the episode because Brooke, Kathleen and Julie keep getting caught into weird tangents about the Jones Brothers.

We are celebrating Halloween on Episode 25 of the Bulletproof Podcast with a deep dive on the 1986 action/horror flick, Chopping Mall! Join your host Chris The Brain along with co-host Chad Cruise and guest analyst Todd Gaines as they ponder how old the characters in Chopping Mall are supposed to be, point out some of the unique items sold at the Park Plaza Mall like laser proof mirrors, dissect the death scenes and more.

It’s no secret that Halloween is like Christmas for some of your HMN hosts (Matt’s Christmas is literal Christmas, the little scamp) and this year, we’re going back 2 decades to the millennium with a sequel/reboot that still holds up, 2000’s HALLOWEEN H20! Purists may not fawn over this entry in the franchise, but ya bois at Horror Movie Night are big fans, so strap in for some praise for this less-obsessed-over installment that featured the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, as well as topical teen heartthrobs Josh Hartnett, Michelle Williams AND Jodi Lynn O’Keefe. Plus Joseph Gordon Levitt gets an ice skate to the face in the first 5 minutes!

Campy horror flicks that owe their existence to William Castle are hard to come by, and we’ve already talked HOHH99, so our fearless leader Matt finally pulled the trigger on one of his favorite forgotten gems, POPCORN (1991)! This one has way too many subplots, but makes up for it with 3 Castle-inspired movies-in-a-movie, and some truly bombastic practical effects. If you haven’t seen this one, take the time to find a copy, it’s a perfect example of the kind of movie HMN would make if we had any sort of budget…

We are joined by Yellowbird Mantra’s Eben Wares this week to discuss the Anarchist punk band … Chumbawamba. Yes you read that correctly. While their music was catchy pop and folk music Chumbawamba is without competition the most punk rock band we’ve ever discussed. Listen to Chris and Eben breakdown their history of rebellion and tell us we’re wrong!

Bulletproof Action is celebrating the 60th Birthday of Jean-Claude Van Damme with its Best Van Damme Week Ever! So it is appropriate that Episode 24 of The Bulletproof Podcast is taking a look back at JCVD’s star making performance in 1988’s Bloodsport! Join Chris The Brain, Chad Cruise and Chris DePetrillo as they discuss the Kumite’s top notch booking, the bromance between Frank Dux and Ray Jackson, a random character that has his own Facebook fan club, the Dim Mak, doing the splits and the ineptitude of Forest Whitaker.

Teek Hall and G1ToTheRescue hold it down for the squad (G1 from VARIOUS LOCATIONS LOL)  as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of Chris Jericho alongside the rest of the wrestling world.
G1 & Teek speak on the things that they grew up on, loved and appreciated about Jericho from classic matches, gimmicks to the fact that we can’t honestly say we’ve seen him where the same ring gear twice.
All of this in the midst of put overs, the week in wrestling and our usual burials and snacks!

Put-overs:
G1ToTheRescue: Akai Professional and the MPC Live II
Teek Hall: Westside Gunn’s ALL NEW album, “Who Made The Sunshine”
