‘Hungry Hungry Hippos’ Movie Is Really Happening

So, just when you thought Battleship was the stupidest idea to make a movie another announcement comes along that can only get one response: “Seriously?” Hasbro has signed a deal with Emmett/Furla, the production house run by Randall Emmett and George Furla, to produce three movies based on three of their properties within the next two years.

Hungry Hungry Hippos, Monopoly and Action Man are all being developed into movies. Again…seriously?! Did Hasbro not learn from Battleship sinking that this is a horrible idea?  Monopoly, which was set up at Universal when Hasbro signed a multi-property pact in 2008, is to be the first project before cameras, with a plan to begin production in 2013.

While I could possibly see the other two projects having some sort of story…what the hell would you make a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie about? It’s apparently going to be developed into an animated feature for children. Should we also be expecting a Jenga movie someday? Geez.
