Trailer Trash Heap Assassination Games, Contagion, Glee 3D, & More

Kyle Kriner here, geeks and geekettes! The Trailer Trash Heap has arrived again, and Hollywood has kept me quite busy. We have a ton of big trailers, and I’m excited about quite a few of them. I’ll be even more excited when I’m able to post a certain very specific trailer that recently popped up. I’ll try to contain myself and keep you guys in suspense till then. I think you guys have plenty to enjoy in the meantime. So farewell, until we meet again, Scapists!

Assassination Games

So we have our boy Jean-Claude aka The Muscles From Brussels caught up in some sort of espionage action scenario. Only problem is, he looks almost too elderly in most of the scenes to even look like he can handle it. I mean, it’s not like we know him for being a thespian, but the years haven’t exactly been good to him. Sorry, JC, hopefully you prove me wrong.

Higher Ground

Now this isn’t typically something I’d have much interest in, but as I watched the trailer, I really enjoyed seeing a real honest look at someone struggling with their relationship with God. This story is relatable, and even though it might not be the most exciting film, it may be worth a look.

Arthur Christmas

This one looks hilarious. We get our elves and snow, and it looks like plenty of fun Christmas stuff is going on. But I also like the fact that it just looks different. We’ve seen movies like this a million times before, but they’re almost making it seem like they’re trying to hide Santa’s illegitamate love child. I’m game.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows

So we get a lot of action here, and British Robert Downey is fun to watch, especially in drag. He and Jude Law have a pretty good dynamic with some funny banter. My only issue is that the trailer is too long! It totally makes me think that the movie won’t offer much else. We shall see.

Contagion

This one definitely looks like a cool twist to the plague movie genre that we see so much of. We have a strong cast, and just watching the trailer had me wanting more. This is one I’m truly looking forward to.

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie

Hm, I guess this had to happen at some point. I happen to be a total Gleek and I am excited about this. Their musical numbers are usually great, and the show, when it’s on point, is one of the best on TV. I sure am interested to hear what they sound like live. Not live like their “live” concerts on the show.

The Pirates! Band Of Misfits

Sony Animation certainly has some good projects on the way. I actually laughed quite a bit throught this trailer, and I can’t wait to see it. I think the claymation really adds to the dry humor that the movie kind of gives off. There’s some funny voices, and a lot of sharp jokes. I’m on board with this one. No pun intended, swashbucklers.

John Carter of Mars

I was quite confused while watching the trailer, but I think I get it now. Civil war vet guy goes to Mars and turns into the Prince Of Persia. Sounds good to me. No doubt the movie looks epic, and it should be good summer fare.

The Thing

I still don’t see this movie as necessary, but since it’s clearly happening, might as well deal with it. The movie actually does look kinda good, I probably wouldn’t mind checking it out. But I think this is another one that suffers from a trailer that’s entirely too long. A spooky film like this doesn’t need to prove to all of us how much action it has in it. We need to be teased with this one.

This Must Be The Place

Wow. Ok, so Sean Penn is possibly an old school glam rocker or some sort of drag queen. It doesn’t matter because he can’t lose and the movie still looks interesting. We get left with a cliffhanger that really confuses us which is cool, because we do get plenty of charm and personality before it happens. This one looks like a treat.

Aarakshan

Ok, so obviously I have no idea what’s going on. The first part of the trailer looks like a cruise ship commercial, and some of it looks downright ridiculous. We’re practically seeing full conversations in what’s supposed to be a preview. We get some slumdog millionaire type of action I think, and some of the acting looks decent at parts. I guess if you’re into this kind of thing, then have a ball.

Golf In The Kingdom

I think Bagger Vance already made golf as magical as it’ll get. But hey, nothing wrong with taking another stab at it. Maybe this will be the Seabiscuit of golf movies. The category is just as limited as the underdog horse genre, so it’s perfect.
