‘The Sword’ Film Rights Acquired By Lakeshore Entertainment!

This is absolutely amazing news.

The Sword is a little known Image title first published in late 2007. Written and drawn by the Luna brothers, the phenomenal series quickly became one of my favourite titles for the entirety of its 24-issue limited run (you can listen to Jonathan proclaim his love for the series all the way back on Geekscape 45). The series ended nearly three years ago (with quite the final issue I might add), so naturally it’s been some time since we’ve heard anything about it.

Today, things changed; Lakeshore Entertainment  has acquired the film rights to The Sword. Of course, this is just the first of many steps to getting a film produced. We know nothing of casting, directors, or release dates; but The Sword is happening, and that’s the best news I’ll hear all day.

Excited? Who would you like to see play Dara Brighton? If you haven’t read the comic, I recommend you pick it up immediately, and get ready for an absolutely mindblowing series (the first issue is also available to read FOR FREE).
