R.I.P – Director David R. Ellis Dead At 60

Hollywood director David R. Ellis passed away suddenly today in South Africa at the age of 60.

Ellis was in Johannesburg in preparation for his next feature, an adaptation of Japanese anime KITE. Details of his passing are scarce at this time; all that is know is that it was sudden and unexpected. We’ll update you as more information trickles in.

Ellis helmed many popular features during his life including Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco, Final Destination 2, Cellular, and Snakes on a Plane. He started in Hollywood as an actor and stuntman before first sitting in the (second-unit) director’s chair in 1986.

Rest in peace, David.
