What if Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet had directed The Lovely Bones?

Jonathan London's at SXSW and he's dropping news stories like they're hot.

It turns out that City of Lost Children director Jean-Pierre Jeunet was planning to option Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones before Peter Jackson came on board.  Jeunet told Jonathan in a soon-to-be-posted interview, "I wanted to do The Lovely Bones, but I was too late." He's a spectacularly talented director but this might have seemed like a step backwards for him. After all, he made a film about an entire city of lost children, but if he made The Lovely Bones he would only have had the one to work with.

On the other hand, he's also the director of Alien: Resurrection, so we might have seen Rachel Weisz covered in KY jelly at some point. Or at least Stanley Tucci. Try getting that image out of your head. Thanks a bunch, Jonathan...

Either way, look for Jonathan London's complete interview with the award-winning director right here on Geekscape, and soon. I anticipate that it will be engaging... and for a very, very long time.
