John Layman Reveals ‘CHEW’ Adaptation No Longer Moving Forward

An adaptation of John Layman & Rob Guillory’s series CHEW has been in the works for awhile now,  Stephen Hopkins (24) has been working on a movie adaptation of the series since 2010. Then, a short while ago, it was revealed that there was a small screen adapation in the works with Showtime. Just weeks ago Guillory discussed how work was progressing on the series but it now appears that talks have broken down with Showtime.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t see a CHEW series come to the small screen, but it definitely doesn’t look good. If you haven’t read the series check out the synopsis for it below:

Tony Chu is a cop with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. It`s a dirty job, and Tony has to eat terrible things in the name of justice. And if that wasn`t bad enough, the government has figured out Tony Chu`s secret. They have plans for him… whether he likes it or not.
