Geekscape Tech Review: Pelican Marine for the iPhone 6 and 7

Otterbox has a tough competitor from our point of view with their phone cases. Pelican is rising up to match that protection in their recent iPhone 7 offerings of the Voyager and the Protector. Today we are reviewing another Pelican case, aptly named the Marine.

A company in the business since 1976, Pelican has introduced the Marine as another line of protection. Water, snow, dirt, and dust are going to be no match for the iPhone 7(also available for 6 and 6s) when this case is surrounding it.

The shell consists of five layers of serious impact absorbing materials. It also has a scratch resistant coated screen protector. The protection of this phone has a rating of IP68. This brings the iPhone 7 up to the same protection rating as the Samsung Galaxy S7 in terms of dust and water protection. The phone can have the extra protection from water up to another .5 cm at 30 min. of submersion.

The thinness of the case was noticeable to me when I received it to review. It does not seem to add initial volume of the iPhone 7 by much. The case has been tested to military standards of 810G. So even this seemingly thin case will protect your phone from multiple drops.

If you would like to purchase the Pelican Marine Case for the iPhone 7, you can do so on the Pelican website for about $74.99 in colors of clear, clear with black, and clear with teal. The case for the 6 and 6s can be found on Amazon for $49.99- a thirty dollar mark down. This one seems to come in only black.
