I'm really enjoying this show and I hope they learned their lessons
from what they did to finish BSG.  It's great that they have a
non-stereotypical gay character.

I'm loving this show, but I was kinda disappointed in this latest episode. It just had a lot to do plot-wise and wasn't as organic and explorative as "there is another sky." It was pretty much the equivalent to the test you have to take after you spent a class watching a movie. It was very "let's sit down and get through this. we've got a lot to do."

That said, Vergis and Barnabus are cool. I'm looking forward to see where those characters take the story.

There's one thing i'm confused about:

does vergis know that sam adama/ha'la'tha was behind stealing the chip? seems like a weird move since vergis is tauron. isn't he also a supporter of ha'la'tha? very strange.

I am in like with the show. Characters and plot are really well done, but its definitely a slow burn right now. I enjoy that about it but it doesn't make me have to watch it urgently, although at the same time its nice to watch the scenes play out at that pace. Also I like the dystopia-behind-closed-doors vibe about it. Feels a little Bladerunner or Gattaca-y.

I got caught up last night, and I'm still not sure how I feel about the show as a whole.  Neo, I mean, Tamara, In V-World is kind of nifty but way too Matrix-y for my tastes.

I just started watching it yesterday, I've seen the first four episodes and should be caught up to date by the next episode airing. I like it so far, it's interesting to see how it's clearly related to BSG but has a much different feel to it. I like the story so far and I'm interested to see how it'll play out, especially giving us more background for BSG.

Though only thing that struck me as really strange: Caprica is set 58 years before the fall (ie the start of BSG) and in the show Bill Adama is 11 years old. Which means that Adama is about 70 in BSG. Does that seem right to anyone?

This week was pretty huge. I love the parallel between (hidden spoilers)Amanda chasing her dead brother in her mind and Joesph/Daniel chasing the avatars of their dead daughters. The real world getting fuzzier while the v-world gets more real is totally cool. I don't think you have to worry about not seeing enough New Cap City, Erick. I'm sure Daniel is going to be seeing a lot of it in the next few episodes. Its hard to talk about all the cool things about this episode without getting into spoilers, since its all tied so tightly together.

The only thing i'm frustrated with is how slowly the plot lines with Lacy are moving. I'm afraid they're going to get so far behind in that plot line, they're going to have to dedicate an episode or two to move it along and totally lose momentum in the show.

I thought this was strange too. Guess the colonial types just age better than us earthlings.

The last two episodes of Caprica lost me a bit. The second to last one was overly melodramatic and the last one kinda blew through a lot of stuff without really explaining the minor details. Glad to see Lacy's story is finally going to have some sorta momentum after the break. I also could not give a fuck whether or not Mrs.Greystone dies. That story arch is boring and doesn't seem to be going anywhere in particular.

The thing I hated the most was the moment in the second to last episode where Joseph calls the announcer of the club a freak. It just seemed like a totally weird and out of character thing to say. Is he a freak because he's in drag? If so, you've got a gay brother that kills for a living and is happily married. I think dressing in drag is slightly more sane. Is he a freak because he's living in the V-world? If so, look in the mirror. This type of thing + the over the top melodrama has me concerned.

Still excited...but concerned.

I especially like how they didn't make much of an issue about it, in that they just subtly communicated it to the audience and didn't make it a focal point from then on, it's just one aspect of his character, not the totality of it.

I'm in love with this show. In some ways, I feel a greater affinity to
it than I did with BSG, which probably has to do with the heavy tech
angle. It does that thing that BSG did so well, which was create
allegories that we could intuitively relate to.

I especially dig that the show, in essence, is one long-drawn out
meditation on death. I love just about anything dark. And I think the
way they're playing with death, grief, loss, identity, the self,
technology, etc. is brilliant. There's such fertile ground here and a
lot of my excitement about the show is imagining where it could lead. I'm especially interested in what way Zoe and Tamara play in the creation of the Cylons, their AI.

I also feel the casting was pitch perfect. On a totally superficial
level, I just love looking at the leads, they're a gorgeous bunch. It's actually kinda funny,
'cause I wonder how I'd feel about the show if Zoe and Clarice weren't
raven-haired, 'cause I dig their looks that much. :P And as someone who really loved Number Three/Lucy Lawless on BSG, I'm digging the philosophical and physical similarities between her and Clarice.

Similarly, the
design of the world is beautiful. I'm talking about things like the
dinnerware, eyewear, etc. There's so much to ogle and keep my interest.

The only downside are the VFX. I mean, how excruciating was that
mid-season finale? I'm convinced they only adopted that fractured
storytelling in the last episode because they didn't want to string
together Zoe's scenes all in one go. I really wish they upped the
budget for the CGI, because it's pretty awful. :(

Anyway, I'm really high on the show and could go on and on, I just can't wait for the show to return from hiatus.
