Thought I should open a thread for tech we wanted rather than one offs for each device we happen to like… I think I’m completely sold on the Nexus 7, it’s crazy cheap… and oh so good $209 in Canada, $199 in the US.

i just now put in my order for the Asus Transformer Infinity at Best Buy, literally seconds ago, and was going to open a recent purchases thread about it.
it’ll be my first foray into the tablet cosmos. i’m just tired are reading my comics on my iPod Touch.
I’ve been reading my comics on my Nexus S which is a wee bit small, but still bigger than your touch. 
I liked the transformer, but as soon as I saw the Nexus 7 announced I was all over the much much cheaper version. Word is that Asus and Google make no money from the units, they’re only making money on the store.

i don’t buy tech gadgets that often, so i’mma go all out on the TF-Inf. getting the keyboard dock and everything. i’m even thinking of getting a prepaid 4G hotspot thingamabob.
just tether it to your phone, what kind of cell phone do you have?

i’ve had the same prepaid plan and SIM card for the last 9 years, and the same cheap cell for the last 5.
so get a cheap Android, maybe the Galaxy Ace, tether it to that. It’s a good cheap Android that’ll run most of your stuff. Sure you can’t upgrade the Os, but it’s a third to a quarter the cost of other smart phones and it’ll tether.

i actually got a text today from AT&T telling me that my current SIM and phone won’t work after 9/30/12. looks like the dream is over.
so switch providers and get a cheap, but good Android. Preferably a Samsung.

I’m an Apple user, but I thought the Nexus was pretty impressive looking. It’s the first $199 ($209 here as Satori said) tablet that actually seems like it takes itself seriously. It’s really exciting to see some action on that front!
Price could go up on that sweet Nexus if Apple gets it’s way and sets a precedent:

Is it just apple though? Or is it the entire industry? I seems like everyone is suing everyone, all the time.
The screen on the 7 is amazing! I haven’t played with it too much but I’m loving what I’ve seen thus far. I was really apprehensive about the small screen but it seems after getting it in my hands it’s the perfect size and everything else may be too large. I wish it had a slot that I could drop a sim card into but I have a large enough data plan to tether it to my phone.
So I tell the swamp donkey to sock it before I give her a trunky in the tradesman’s entrance and have her lick me yarbles!
I too enjoy the larger screens, but haven’t played with a 7″ much so I don’t know what I’d think!
I could see it feeling a bit small for comics however.
With slightly below average use, I’m sitting a 1 day, 18 hours on battery use. Colour me impressed!

just picked up the keyboard dock for my Infinity Pad. this thing is so freaking slick.
