Comikaze: The Boom Boom Girls of Wrestling Steps Into The Ring

Ever wonder how wrestling organizations like the WWE hire their female talent? Based on the Divas that have gone through the organization throughout the 2000’s, I’d like to imagine that the process is similar to what was shown in The Boom Boom Girls of Wrestling, an independent satire that delves into the world of women in wrestling.

Spearheaded by Carolin von Petzholdt, (who also plays the lead character of Carla Von Awesome,) was inspired to work on this project after she was injured at the end of a two month stint as a pro wrestling trainee. What can only be described as completely insane, the clips shown at the film’s Comikaze panel are what I’d sometimes imagine the hiring process at the WWE looks like. (“Are those silicone? You’re hired!”) After these “super heroes” are chosen, the film promises to take the ladies to some of the most backwater locations you could imagine in order to perform in front of a crowd of dozens. Just like real life!

The film is in its final stages of production and is aiming for a 2014 release. Check out the trailer below, and after you’re done, you can find more information at the website for the film at www.theboomboomgirls.com/
